Yeah I wanna say the series started in 88 and ran pretty much uninterrupted until 2013.
That's pretty damn impressive, and I did not realize that.

Also, I hear if you say "Monster" three times in the mirror at night, Mumei shows up and gushes about it, so just a heads-up
Ah, I didn't realize that they were different. I've never read anything from that set before, though I do recall some of the guys from the Comics Conspiracy podcast praising the heck out of something by Dan Rosa, so it was probably that.
I mean whenever I try to bring up Walking Dead or Invincible someone makes some noise about it being shit.
If you're not on board with the Nu52, there's not a lot to talk about. Look at every time I bring up Valiant. Two responses? A month?
Last year, I purchased Invincible 1-100 during the Comixology sale. That's right, I spent $100 on Invincible. I've only read three, maybe four issues so far.
I don't care what anyone says about it, I'm going to read the entire run, dammit. I hope I love it.
I have like the first year and then some of Valiant thanks to the Humble Bundle and I've barely touched it.I'm pretty sure I'm the only one reading Shadowman here. Ill probably get Quantum and Woody down the line. It gets some occasional love here.

I think I'm going to start culling the valiant list. The product line was so great for so long but it feels like its in a slump. That last event felt unnecessary and should have just been an xo man of war story. So I think ill pair it down to just Archer & Armstrong and Harbinger. And I'll avoid their event books for a while. Maybe catch up on xo through a digital sale but it and unity have gotten so stale.
Read archer Armstrong. It's one of the most consistent funny action books out there. It's the spiritual sequel to incredible Hercules by marvel years ago. Highly recommended.I have like the first year and then some of Valiant thanks to the Humble Bundle and I've barely touched it.![]()

They are definitely in a slump. I don't like the moves to minis either. Eternal Warrior ended outta nowhere. Quantum and Woody did nt need to end.Birdie! I posted a valiant comic statement but since like only you and me read it, it went no where. Let's talk the state of the product line. I think they're in a slump
Let me drudge up my post
Eternal warrior was awesome and then nothing. This new reboot doesn't have me filled with confidence. I want Pak version of EWThey are definitely in a slump. I don't like the moves to minis either. Eternal Warrior ended outta nowhere. Quantum and Woody did nt need to end.
Wow, this thread got a bit redunk for a day or so, huh? I'm glad to see the Invincible conversation though, that used to be one of my absolute favorite series. I have to get caught up on it. Haven't read it since a little bit after the Viltrulimite War (I know I spelled that wrong). Walking Dead is a book that I have NEVER bought monthly, but I used to eagerly await the trades. Have to get caught up with that as well. Both books def went through some slumps (Invincible especially felt a little lost after the Viltrulimite War.)
Probably gonna use that Barnes and Nobles sale to get into Snyder's Batman. Either that or Morrison's, but I feel Snyder's may be more easily accessible for someone who doesn't have a wealth of Batman/DC knowledge.
I know I already made a big post about Infinity but I still wanna talk about it, damn it! People who loved Annihilation should absolutely be reading Hickman's Avengers/New Avengers. Infinity felt like Annihilation 3 (and in my opinion, Annihilation perfected). The first Annihilation def had some problems, and I in general liked Annihilation: Conquest more, but they both had some problems where things just didn't feel right in parts. Conquest I distinctly remember not really enjoying that Wraith character. The original Annihilation FELT like it was epic, but also a bit empty. Maybe because it didn't really have any great series to tie in with it, just some kind of average ones. Infinity on the other hand...I said my only real problem with it in a previous post, was that it didn't feel like it had a concrete ending, it was just leading into something even more insane. This was mostly because of the New Avengers Epilogue however. Either way, it made it VERY obvious to me where Hickman needs to be placed after his Avengers runs are done. Cosmic Marvel. Hell, he even continued some of Abnett and Lanning's cosmic storylines in his FF run.
Also in response to Cheska earlier, I find listening to soundtracks while reading runs of comics greatly enhances them. Hell, back to Hickman, when I was reading the issues towards the end of FF, essentially the climax of his run, I was listening to Explosions in the Sky. The music fit wonderfully, and I'm positive made it all the more emotional and even caused a tear or two in my eyes. Back when I read Walking Dead I'd always read the trades while listening to Red Sparrows or other similar artists to set the mood. I used the soundtrack to Fury while reading through Infinity. They usually match up pretty wonderfully.
I will perform whatever blood sacrifices are required to get the hacks out of the current Marvel Cosmic staple of books and get Hickman in there. Hell, I'd take Bendis-lead Avengers again if it meant Hickman got Guardians of the Galaxy away from him.
They should give it to Fred Van LenteHickman writing Guardians would freakin' awesome.
I did the exact same thing with Invincible and Walking Dead.
No shame.
They should give it to Fred Van Lente
Are there any good self-contained Star Wars runs? Something that has completely different characters from the original films or the prequels?
Once the artist changes the book improves tenfold. It's one of my favorite superhero stories I've invested myself in.
Now to put them on the shelf and forget about them until I have a sudden inexplicable urge to read them!
I own the first 10 trades of the Walking Dead. I'm not sure I can follow that journey any further. Invincible looks right up my alley, though.
I get so nauseated by its incessant grimness and the tower of grotesque circumstance Kirkman heaps onto his protagonists, all for no reason except to just make things worse.
Then Charlie Adlard draws a two page spread of a blasted out parking lot and I can't not read this book.
And here I thought that a Zombie Apocalypse would be a pleasant experience. Who knew it would be so morbid? Lol

I remember Rick saying something like " we are the walking dead" early in the series and i think it is an apt description for the book itself, it shambles around from arc to arc now and i still enjoy it, but it feels like it's over and yet still moves.
Everyone I know that reads TWD either stopped at this point and decided it was the closest thing to an ending they needed, or kept reading and have developed a masochistic hate affair with the book. I really need to try reading it for myself, but the vitriol most of my friends have for it has really turned me off.
Backlogs: Not just for Steam sales
It's a terrible, gorgeous book. Your appreciation of the latter obviously impacts your tolerance of the former.
Look forward to my rant about Bendis' Guardians of the Galaxy after I get home. It's a doozy. I've been saving it for a while.
The artist stays the same throughout the whole series, doesn't it? Maybe I'll just pick up the first volume and see if it does anything for me.
See! I told you all. Some scoffed but when you find the right score with the right book it's amazing. Man of steel with Supes books, batman TAS for dini work, etc
Oooh! Have been meaning to read my Inifnity omnibus, this feels like the perfect opportunity to do so.Also in response to Cheska earlier, I find listening to soundtracks while reading runs of comics greatly enhances them. Whoot, awesome recommendations! Will check them out.Reading comics to soundtracks has been my thing these days. Trent Reznors score for Social Network, Girl with a Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl, and NINs Ghost album have been the perfect thing for the books I read.
My current manga/comics backlog:
20th Century Boys, Volume 11 - 16

Yea I bought the batman TAS soundtrack CDs and have gotten ton of use. I wonder if there's a website that collects fiction/music combinations. This was a fantastic suggestion! Especiall because the Batman TAS soundtrack has so much to choose from. I just paired this up with the Mad Love and Other Stories paperback and it was perfect. I even played the Jingle Bells/Pukey Christmas songs while reading the Batgirl issue! Haha 10/10

I tried doing a search for some actual playlists, but not having much luckI saw in another thread from last year that someone mentioned the Kick-Ass sundtrack for Ultimate Spider-Man.
Why is this a variant for SpidermanNow who's Groot?
Who's going to get this variant?
