I think with this week, I'm done with Batman Eternal. I've just found the last half-dozen or so issues dreadfully boring, and I'm tired of hoping the next issue catches my interest again.

I've seen little, if any, talk of Mind the Gap around these parts, but I wanted to chime in and say I'm halfway through the second collection and very much invested in the story so far. It is such a mind fuck (no pun intended), and literally ends with every issues leaving you guessing as the who is behind these events.

It's one of the books that I've flipped through in the shop, but I never got around to buying any trades. It's been on my radar, but holy shit are there so many comics to read as it is. Is the series still ongoing or is it done with?

I don't believe it's cancelled, but I'm having trouble finding the next issue release. According to some people, it's just on a super irregular schedule :( Now I know why Rodin Esquejo's art looks so familiar, he's done work on Morning Glories lol.

Art and covers are pretty awesome too, look at this Skottie Young variant :O

Yea i enjoyed Mind the Gap for the most part. Although i seem to have lost track of new issues or they just sort of stopped. I should look into it. In its favor it at least explains mysteries midway through it, even if some seem a bit off the rails. So unlike Morning Glories it will resolve a thing or two

Speaking of issues just stopping, WTF happened to Pretty Deadly? The last issue was in April! :O

yea that one wrapped up its first arc and went "welp see ya later". Pretty odd. I went back and looked and Mind the Gap was just starting "Act II" and just sort of stopped. I wonder what happened

At least it gets more than one issue every two years. Jesus fuck, Bendis. Scarlet is way more interesting than all of the other shit you write.

What's that Kitchen stuff y'all are pulling?

They'll bring him back when we get someone who has actually read the characters before on Cosmic.

Sam's sales aren't great, but like with Captain Marvel, they're pushing the character too hard to cancel it.

Guardians of the galaxy has rich definitely coming back, and Sam has turned into little more than a punching bag used for laughs by other writers.

He's done I think.

The Kitchen is an 8 part mini written by new comer Ollie Masters but drawn by the incredible Ming Doyle and colored by the incredible Jordie Bellaire. Covers done by Becky Cloonan.

New York City, late 1970s. Times Square is a haven for sex and drugs. The city teeters on the verge of bankruptcy, while blackouts can strike at any moment. This is the world of THE KITCHEN.
The Irish gangs of Hell's Kitchen rule the neighborhood, bringing terror to the streets and doing the dirty work for the Italian Mafia. Jimmy Brennan and his crew were the hardest bastards in the Kitchen, but after they're all put in prison, their wives - Kath, Raven and Angie - decide to keep running their rackets. And once they get a taste of the fast life and easy money, it won't be easy to stop.
THE KITCHEN takes one of the most popular genres in entertainment and, like The Sopranos, reimagines it for a new generation to present a classic gangster story told from a fresh point of view.

Ok comcGAF, every time I read a comic, I try to assign a voice to a character. I'm reading Zatanna right now and I'm having trouble coming up with a voice. So help me cast a voice actor for Zatanna.

Little too deep.

For real. I absolutely loved volume one of Scarlet and I need more.
I posted about it earlier, but I noticed recently that the second volume is solicited for next year even though I don't think any more issues have been solicited yet. So I'm not sure what the deal with that is.
I do kind of hope that the second volume finishes up the series though if Bendis is going to continue this awful non-schedule. I absolutely love the series, but I don't want to be left hanging any longer. I just want a completed story that I can read and re-read. And while I'm making my demands, I'll also ask for an OHC collecting the whole series.
But man, Scarlet just really clicked with me when I read it. The art is absolutely gorgeous and the writing is brilliant. A week after I read it I already wanted to re-read it (but I'd already returned it to the library and didn't feel like going back to pick it up).

When I read comics the characters tend to sound like my voice in my head. So yeah, me as the voice actor.

She's femanine but also a daddy's girl and kinda a tomboy if that makes sense. I went with a mixture of those clips posted above and Megan Fox.

When in doubt go with the animated series of Batman. Except Harley and Jim Gordon who I read as Tara Strong and Gary Oldman.

But yeah I generally pick the most prominent person who has played them.

I read Batman as the guy from origins for a few months and it fucked me up. I couldn't hear Conroy lol.

Ding ding ding! Fell in love with it the moment I saw it :)

EDIT: These were some of my other favorites:

I use the DCU as my basis for a lot of stuff too haha. When you watch these shows for yours, and the voices are spot on, it's hard to default to anything else.

I just like Tara Strong more than Arleen Sorkin. But Arleen is still fantastic.

Oldman I can't explain.

Is there anyone who doesn't read Joker as Mark Hamill?

My friend claims to read Batman as Adam West. He loves Adam West but I can't imagine how that works.

Phil Noto does great work... but I swear every one of his females looks almost identical. Like, the hair is different, but they're all clones with the same basic facial structure.

Terry Dodson is kind of similar in that regard. His ladies look great but they all look the same.

Damn, I remember when my pull list was ~20 books long just from one week. It would take many bathroom trips and breaks at work just so I can read them all.

So what's the largest amount of time anyone here just plummeted down and read their comics in one sitting? I think I powered through Crisis on Infine Earths in six hours on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Old comics had a fuckton of text. Had a headache afterwards.

I frequently get fatigued if I'm reading the same thing for more than a couple of hours. What I'll frequently do on Sundays if were not going out, is grab a couple of TPB's and run through them throughout the day while my fiancé watches football. So I can read consecutively for 10-12 hours, but I have to change up the tempo.

EDIT: I posted a little tid bit about the Power Girl Sideshow Premium Format in the Figure thread, but here's the revised facial sculpt. I believe they may offer the original one as part of the exclusive set.

I just finished the first Preacher TPB, and thus the All in the Family arc. So great.
That scene when God is talking to Tulip after he resurrected her is top tier. "I think he'd tell you to cut the shit."

I can't imagine I've read in one sitting for longer than two hours. Off the top of my head, I think my longest single-sitting reads were Batman: Black Mirror (read it all in one sitting) and Scott Pilgrim (think I read the first four books in one sitting). I think I'm forgetting something more recent though...
But yeah, if I can read more than one issue in a sitting, it's a success for me. As a person who loves to read (both comics and normal books) and would probably consider it my favorite free-time activity, I really suck at it.

You know who I have the hardest time pin pointing? Lois Lane. Mainly because I feel like everyone who's portrayed her has an equally unique voice. If I had to choose one person that's more consistent in my head though, it's probably Erica Durance with Delaney being right behind her.

I reread pretty much all of Marvel Cosmic from the Thanos and Drax series up to Thanos Imperative in one sitting sometime last year- though I skipped large chunks of War of Kings because I don't like X-Men. That took the vast majority of the day, though I don't have any timestamps. It was really entertaining, but I'm not sure I could do it again.

The whole arkham supernatural aspect of the story hasn't been doing anything for me. Which is a shame because I feel like I should really like batwing. Is batwing's standalone series any good? I know they switched characters around issue 20.

I read the first issue of Scarlet. Damn that was really cool. Something I think I will really enjoy. The art is really lovely .

Edit : just bought the Hardcover on Amazon. Sure why not. I see a second volume is out in December. Nice.

I never got that far in Smallville to experience her. Just remember being disappointed we never got that Aquaman show.......
