I've been reading Hawkeye, and I don't particularly like Wolverine.
I think I'll give Mudman a shot. How good is it?

I love it, it has a quirky feel and is very character-moment-centric. I think it's well written and fun and at issue 5 it starts to build a larger plot as opposed to the smaller initial focus.

Did you mean that you don't like Wolverine as a character or the book Wolverine and the X-men? The student/teacher/school interactions are the best part of WATXM, not so much wolverine.

Wolverine and the X-Men is not a comic about Wolverine in any way, shape or form.

Doesn't matter.

I can't read any books with Gambshit, Deadpool, or Instant Asian Psylocke. :\

Did they change colorists on your Openis guys? The Avengers stuff looks okay, but his X-Force art (despite the shitty god damn character in that book) looked fantastic. The drawing looks similar, but the colors now are all nutty so I'm guessing new colorist?

Small Akron convention I want to hit up next week. Norm Breyfogle and Joe Staton yo!

A+X is a bit butt. The Cap / Cable story could have been longer. How do you have nazi Sentinel robots and still not deliver?! Well limited page count. Also not Garney's best work. Solid, but he's so much better these days; rush jerb. :\

I appreciate the "who gives a f*ck about continuity" thought behind it, but execution is lacking. Saving the Keown bit for later since Dale Keown draws two comics every ten years these days. :(

Yeah, it's about this STAR. God bless Oya.

None of those characters are in WatXM either aside from minuscule cameos. The only actual adult staff members that get any kind of panel time really are Beast and Kitty and all other incidental staff presence is just so far as interacting with the students. The book is really about Broo, Idie, QQ and the rest of the students to a lesser extent. It's like the best set of characters ever in any X-Men comic.

i don't know how i feel about watxm... i'm glad avx is over, watxm has gotten back to decent but never as good as the first 8 issues were. i really don't like bradshaw, too.

Thanks to comic books I now firmly believe that you can put "nazi" in front of almost any noun and make it funnier.

When you're Dan Slott.

Don't blame me for doing my hater thing, you were obviously setting that one up.

The past four issues have been at the same level as the first eight.

Doop issue was the best of the series.

Yeah.

It's like, hateful frosting. Oh this cake is pretty good. How can we make it better? A nice frosting.

Hey this Sentinel is pretty evil, how can we make it more evil? A nice Nazi frosting.

Wait - isn't Nazi frosting what the Ilsa films were about? HNNNNG! Dat She-Wolf of the SS. :3

I am culpable. :X

Wow - first HUUUUURGH guy interviewed HUUUUURGH on this episode of HUUUUURGH Word Balloon is fucking HUUUUURGH awful. Vocal ticks like a motherf*cker.

Apparently some gardeburger motherfucker is on here, I wonder if he'll talk about how many hours he spent tracing Arthur Adams to get his jerb at Marvel? XD

posted this in the ipad thread but i'll check with comic readers, as i need help with this:

When reading comics on comixology on my ipad 3, whenever i swipe back a page in single page view, the previous page is blurry and takes time to load. On my touchpad, this only ever happened when first starting a comic up, the title page had to focus and i was good to go. Now it's every time i swipe back on the ipad 3.

bottom of the picture is the previous page when swiping backwards. It focuses after a second or two, it's just unexpected and unwanted Xo But is that normal?

Okay, so Hellboy? Pretty damn good book. Just got to the chained coffin story. Really fantastic art. I can't decide whether I like it better in B&W, with its fantastic use of shadows, or in color, with its perfect colorization and use of saturation.

Just going out on a limb here, but why not try her series? She had her own Batgirl book for six years or so. Beyond that, maybe her first appearances in No Man's Land?

I think they're all out of print and thus probably a bit more expensive than they should be. Any recommendations as to which part of her series is the best? If I splurge I want it to be worth it. No, I'm not the poster who originally asked, but I'm interested too.

It also breaks my heart I never got any of the steph-batgirl trades.

ALSO: BEFORE WATCHMEN: DOLLAR BILL. I thought giving Moloch a series was dumb, but I do believe that DC has begun deliberately trolling as this does not make sense. Coming next: BEFORE WATCHMEN: THE NEWSPAPER STAND GUY and DURGING WATCHMEN: THE SHORT AND TRAGIC LIFE OF THE SQUID MONSTER.

IRL females get haircuts.

Edit: And wear poop brown contact lenses.

I don't understand. Bachalo has a certain style, how is his interpretation wrong?

There's nothing wrong with Bachalo's illustration. Unless he colored this himself. It's the weird colored lines in her hair. Looks like wood, not hair.

Although in this era of pretty princess artists, you do have a tendency to get what would previously been called "off model" characters.

Jesus Christ. . . this bodysnatcher motherf*cker.

Adding somebody else to the list of "Remove head and play dodgeball with". >:|

Man Black Spider-Man was great this week, Bendis at his finest. Sad to see Ivan Reis leave Aquaman, great thematic art.

I tend to like Bendis in trade form, his individual chapters leave a bit to be desired and don't really feel like they are worth the money. I wish his stuff went straight to trades.

Bachalo does my favorite Iceman. Off modeling could be a good thing.

Bachalo is one of the few dudes that make Iceman look like a man made of Ice, constantly chipping away and regrowing with his every move. Most of time, he looks like the Silver Surfer's twin brother.

Nah, he's doing what's "on model" for Iceman presently.

Iceman started fluffy, got shiny, then in the X-factor days got all crazy out of control and had to use that power restrictor belt thingee, and now he seems to be an amalgamation of everything that has come before.

Except for Ultimate iceman. F*ck that sh*t so hard. :\

One of the more recent off model pains in the ass has been with DC for me.

Patrick Gleason tweaked Guy Gardner and made him less of a Moe Howard reject. Then pretty much every fill in artist on GLC would go back and draw him looking like Moe Howard.

I hate fill-in artists so much. :\

You all know what this month's most anticipated comic is?

ScdX2.jpg

Oh yes, the official My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic comic book, written by Katie Cook and illustrated by Andy Price, coming out on November 28. The first story arc will run for four issues, but I'm pretty sure we'll see more after that.

Why?

Because over 90,000 copies of the first issue have already been preordered! Bronies are just crazy like that.

Did I mention that the first issue has 19, yes, friggin' 19 variant covers?

There's also a three-page preview up on iTunes. Check it out!

So who's gonna be picking this up?

we are so fucking doomed.

WHERES THE DAMN FUCKING DOOM SONG!?

i find it silly that i'm annoyed that the ending to Green lantern Third Army takes place in a GLC Annual issue.....yet here i am. DCBS updated it's website for January books, at least it's half off, but argh. I'm going to take out my anger on Threshold #1. Xo.

i am ordering this though:

DC seems hellbent on f*cking up Green Lantern books and short-changing readers of the other books. Goes back to Blackest Night and Mongul. For YEARS they built up Mongul in GLC, but noooo - Geoff Johns wants to have his Sinestro moment so suddenly the big Mongul fight takes place in GL. :|

Makes sense they'd build something up, and then SWITCH it to another title.

Such a bummer. They spent so long building up the Lanterns, only to piledrive them into the dirt.

i didn't really get soured until Blackest Night ended, didn't care for Johns' Brightest Day 10 issue GL arc or Corps, and really didn't like War of the Green Lanterns. I'm down to just Johns' Green Lantern until something more interesting happens in the GL universe.

I wonder if the color corps will ever go away and get back to Space Cops.

they're riding that for all its worth. Red Lanterns its separate book, Larfleeze back-up in Threshold, New Guardians rainbow team-up. I liked it at first, was a fan of Rage of the Red Lanterns, and some of the early stuff...
