I feel like the entire run of Superior Spider-Man is to highlight how much worse spock is at dealing with criminals like Massacre versus peter.
That's the point. It's basically the Spider-Man version of Knightfall.

Here's the one I'm a little lukewarm on: Red Sonja. It's just...nothing stood out to me honestly.
I can't believe I just found instocktrades this week. I've already ordered like 8 books. Excited for Justice League vol 3, Shazam!, and Fatale vol. 2. Just started Fatale after having it on my shelf for months. Really digging it so far. For only getting in to comics within the last year or so, it's easily become my favorite hobby. Don't have nearly as much time for gaming, and I don't miss it really. I just wish I would have started reading comics earlier.
Midtown Comics in New York City is proud to announce a bold, new expansion with the opening of its comic book-themed feature shop at the legendary toy store, ToysRUs® Times Square in New York City.
Midtown Comics will offer graphic novels, hard cover books, apparel, collectibles and more at the renowned New York City toy store. We are thrilled to bring our brand to ToysRUs, and to share the excitement of comics, graphic novels, and related collectibles with the mainstream public," said Gerry Gladston, co-owner of Midtown Comics.
Decided to make it a week of firsts. Enjoyed the heck out of Rocket Girl #1, thought Hinterkind #1 was an okay start, looking forward to reading more.

It didn't stand out to me, either. Granted, I read alot of Red Sonja's last volume, so much of it carries the feel of a retread for me. There's only so much you can do with a character like Sonja. That said, I thought Queen Sonja was a refreshing take on the series that added something new.
It's my first time reading anything Red Sonja-related, so I guess I'm enjoying it a lot more than most. Is it really that subpar compared to previous stuff?
Less comic related, more comic shop related
Good for them, but so strange since like a 5 minute walk from one of their stores.

Not really. That store gets a ton of traffic that would never set foot in a dedicated comics shop.Good for them, but so strange since like a 5 minute walk from one of their stores.
I think I am starting to feel a lull in my desire to read comics. There are some storylines I am looking forward to finishing, but I can't seem to generation much excitement for any of these future announcements.
not even Avengers...of the WORLD?
my entertainment is at a lull overall in general, not really liking Unwritten vol 4, seems like a bizarrro quirky volume, and i forced myself to finish Beyond for PS3 which i think stole 1/8th of my joy in life.
How far do you guys generally travel to go to your comics book stores?
I get that same feeling. I'm usually too busy with school stuff or things that aren't comics that are taking precedent over the comics. hopefully i can get hype by the time these new books roll around.
Haha. I reaaally get into my comic reading when I managed to get a few trades stocked up of the series I like, but during the downtime in the middle is when I fall away and play some games. In the last year or so I started the long effort to read every Stephen King novel so I fall deep into that sometimes too. It is great though. If you dig Fatale, you should hunt down Bru's other stuff. Criminal is a fanastic pure crime equivalent to Fatale, while Gotham Central takes that world to the street of Gotham with the GCPD. Love Brubaker (and Rucka) so much.
I'm really busy with school too, but I make time for comics and the odd book. I have a massive backlog though since I'm only keeping up with Hawkguy and Avengers Arena, reading the rest in chunks over time.
I really enjoyed vol. 1 of Fatale. I thought it was very well written, which makes me think I'd like more of Brubaker's stuff. I started reading mostly DC supes, but I've been branching out the past 6 months or so (Transmetropolitan, Locke & Key, Saga), and this was my first crime type book. Really glad I forced myself to pull it off my shelf and start it. I'm going to look into picking up Gothem Central and Criminal, thanks.
Older villains show up. Court Of Owls was just the first arc. Granted it lasted like 11 issues, but after that older villains come around. So by tomorrow I will have gotten all 24 current issues of The Flash in addition to issue 0 the origin story. I'm looking to get into the Snyder batman series but not exactly sure what it's about. I've heard a lot about it involving the court of owls, but is that the only crime organization/ set of villains that are showcased in the series?
Don't spoil anything I just want to know if classic villains show up!
Hey, no bother, you've did yourself justice anyway if you've found Fatale and Locke & Key yourself, I'm sure you would have came across those too. Not crime but if you dig Locke and Key & Fatale (which are really two of my most favourite books on the stands right now), you might like American Vampire by Scott Snyder. Really amazing horror stuff.
Just to change gears, I was wondering if anyone knows. I understand DC is doing a massive omnibus of this villains month thing, but on a smaller scale what's the plan: Will there be a trade for say Batman, with the 4 .# issues, a trade for batman and robin with the 4 .# issues, or will the villain books related to each book simply show up in the regular trades, like the zero issues? I would have guessed that until I saw how freaking many villian books they did.
Awesome. Gonna grab some tomorrow. Damn batman issue 1 is expensive lol local store had a $1 reprint I'll just pick that up in the mean time. At this point having a complete story is more important than rareness of the issue.Older villains show up. Court Of Owls was just the first arc. Do you not want to buy things in trade form? Going in as a collector?Awesome. Gonna grab some tomorrow. Damn batman issue 1 is expensive lol local store had a $1 reprint I'll just pick that up in the mean time. At this point having a complete story is more important than rareness of the issue.
Has anyone been keeping up with the Superman comics? How has the quality been? I thought the first Superman arc was terrible post New 52, and Action comics was just serviceable, so I jumped off.
Started on Battle of the Atom a few weeks ago, but when I realised there's the tie-ins to Wolverine & The X-Men, I got the back catalogue of issues to catch up on there.
Absolutely loving this series - so far it's right up there with my favourites I've read this year. Looking like W&tXM will be on my regular roster now too.
WatXM has been consistently pretty good. The exceptions being the AvX tie ins and the circus arc.

Spoiler from Young Avengers #11, though not much of one given recent announcements and that the text is illegible.
I don't understand how Spock can wear that costume, behave differently than Pete, and MJ not at least suspect a clone.
What issue did the current arc of Green Arrow start? Just got done watching the first season of Arrow and now I'm interested in checking out the comics to see how they compare.
Holy crap guys, just finished the first Vol 1 of Guardians of the Galaxy. Can't freakin' wait to pick up the next four issues tomorrow.
I never even knew you were a comics person. Nice running into you again. :3
I kinda want to get into Guardians, but I'm torn on whether to try the older stuff from several years ago, or just take my chances with the current Bendis run.

Has anyone read the "The Unwritten: Tommy Taylor and the Ship That Sank Twice" graphic novel that was released?
Finished Unwritten vol 4, which is the first volume i didn't love, and i'm going to cite the story going over my head a bit and the heavier reliance on literary works ( i haven't read Moby Dick...it has a whale though, and stuff, right?)
This volume was more of an adventure through literary shenanigans and has grown up and out of the smaller story regarding Tom Taylor.
If I had extra money like that I would. Currently I have all the New 52 Flash comics first prints with variants so thats a start but at some point I do want to read my comics not just look at them in a plastic bag. Tomorrow I'm going in to my local shop and checking out the Snyder Batman series and picking up what I can. Batman #1 is just way too expensive, even on second print. The DC Essentials version will do just fine to get me started because its easily accessible and affordable.
Honestly, I'm starting to see how nostalgia is over priced. If I really care about the stories I read more than likely I won't be interested in selling them, regardless of print version. Only reason most of my Flash comics are first print and variant is because I bought them online for my birthday on a whim to get me started with a new hobby. The ones I bought today are all regular print (albeit first print by chance) aside from issue 23 which is a variant because it was the only 23 they had in stock.
While we're chatting, can you also give me info about maintaining comics? I've heard you need acid free bags and boards to protect them but aside from that I don't know much except you need to switch them out every few years. There was some info about different plastic materials and such but it's all so foreign to me.......
It's so sweet, you remind me of myself in 1996.
Go for it if you enjoy it, but don't count on selling them for much money. Digital has kinda killed the 'rareness' of books, so now it's pretty much just collectors selling to collectors. And all of them have anything published in the last 30 years.
Definitely read Snyder's Batman though, it's real good.
I cant read comics online lol its really annoying plus theres just something about holding a quality comic book in your hands, looking at all the details in print.....
