This just further proves that even if they go F2P eventually the game will struggle.
If you need to make all your money from cosmetics you need characters that people actually like and want to buy cosmetics for. And you need a better art team.
Is there any precedent for this actually working?
Generally with these games you have likeable characters with appealing designs that people are into....and then you sell them skins to make them look different or cooler. And people buy them because they are already into the character.
You don't have off putting characters that no one likes and then hope people want to give you even more money to make them look decent. You'd think League of Legends didn't spend the last 15 years showing everyone how to do it.
"Oh you like the cute fox girl? Here, look at all these alternative options we have for you!"
