Opposite for me. 60fps on my OLED makes me feel nauseous, which I find really bizarre because it's a new phenomenon to me and I also have zero issue playing VR for hours at a time.

I tried to play that first ginger kid Star Wars game a while back and I had to dip out cause it made me physically ill.
Really? That’s very strange. Issue with OLEDs ans low FPS have been documented and have to do with instant on / off nature of individual pixels on the OLED.

With 60FPS latency is low enough that it should bother you as much.

i was wondering why I was feeling nauseos playing the other day, just a weird headache. It might have been the 30fps on the game I was playing. wow lol

On PC, knock yourself out. In consoles - sure it will have it, any day now. 😅

Yea, I dunno, it's really bizarre. I think if anything it's all of the above; the fidelity, the size of the TV (65") and the smoothness. Just does not gel well with me after a while. Playing 60fps on my 42" Plasma is completely fine.

Honestly though, I rarely get to game on my OLED so when I do I want to maximize the visuals. 30fps doesn't bother me but sometimes it is unplayable (Demon's Souls PS5). Rebirth for instance is 30ps all day for me, doesn't bother me in the slightest.

On a more serious note I can’t understand how people can now days deal with 30FPS on large TVs, especially if the said TV is an OLED. And of course cherry in too is bad motion blur implementation.

That legit makes me feel nauseous.

I'm not surprised. We have individuals on this forum peddling the 30 FPS is the better option narrative by suggesting to never play a game at 60 FPS+.

Glad I have a PC, where it will run a lot faster (and will get even faster in my next GPU upgrade).

Yeah, different people experience different effects with essentially “fake” motion I guess.

Good.

As evidence by FFVII rebirth gamers are never happy. They don't just want 60fps they want it with cutting edge graphics as well.

Games take enough time to develop as it is without having to optimise 2 modes.

If your that fussed about framerate your one and only choice will always be buy a Gaming PC.

Not only is it not 30 fps locked, it also seems to be within 30 fps and far from what is desired for VRR.... It's hard to understand the Studios sometimes 🙃

Japanese devs - they can create amazing games but from technical perspective their output is questionable at best:

- elden ring targeting 50fps for some reason
- rebirth with low res textures and no 40fps mode
- ffxvi with horrible performance mode
- DD2... I think this is shaping up to be the biggest disaster, unstable frame rate between 25-40fps, ugh. At least running it in 120hz container and vrr would help but I doubt it will be available.

PC version it is then. I can get it way cheaper and probably gonna run atleast twice the framerate of the PS5 version

Also wait for Digital Foundry and a day one patch, no telling what code they sent IGN, could be very old cause you know they tinker with it anyways so they can have an easy mode so they can get their review out on time
we'll most likely be looking at a locked 60 on ChadStation at launch

I refuse to believe performance mode is "around 30" , sounds like a mistranslation or just ign being ign

So now they can't even make a locked 30 fps game ?

Itsuno saying "around and above", the guy's full of shit lol.

It's not new, Resident Evil 4 also doesn't have a 30fps option, particularly the PS4 version would really benefit from it. (Also IIRC the Series S 'quality' mode is uncapped but runs unevenly around 30 too.)

What time is it?
the real question is, why dafuq not lock this at 30fps ? why let this shit unlock ? VRR ll do shit to help, what is the purpose of that choice ?

So it can run better in backwards compatibility mode of next generation systems?

u can let unlocked, but for some reason u cant lock it and than unlock again when next gen system comes out in 3/4 years ? what is the logic here ?

The problem is likely so demanding they couldn't without sacrificing visual quality of something

It’s fine. Doesn’t matter. Locked 30 would be better but if it’s closer to 60 than not , the. It’s fine.
Better than those stupid pointless monkey paw modes.

so in order to maintain visual quality you sacrifice performance on your upcoming ACTION RPG ????

again this make no sense, lock the resolution at 1800p or 1440p and make the fps at least locked at 30, it cant be that hard.

Capcom do make some strange decisions sometimes. I remember Resident Evil 3 was originally 4K on the Xbox One X which meant it underperformed the PS4 Pro version which was lower res. Also it had no 30fps lock option which DF criticised it for.

I won't play this game if it doesn't run at 60fps but I'm glad it's not just locked to 30fps with no option to uncap it, because then at least the Pro consoles or next gen will be able to run it at 60+ fps. Ideally we would have a lot of options, but it's always good to have a fully unlocked 4k option as well, just for the future.

Again about oled. 30 fps is not 24.
Looks way better than slow panning shots in movies. Even better with good motion blur like ff16. Of course it’s not 60 rather. But it’s a myth. 30 is not that bad on oled. Not ideal but it’s ok. Oleds are 120hz so of course anyone getting one experiences it at 120 so then direct comparison back to 30 is biased

But rebirth does 30fps great. It’s low lag, got great animations motion blur and it looks pinpoint sharp. No aliasing whatsoever. One evening and I am fine with 30 again. Takes some brain time to adjust. Don’t go slapping about 30 and 60 all the time. You won’t get used to it in 5 seconds. But after I got used to it, it plays flawless. And if it was 60 but low res, I would quickly take 60 for granted and be bothered by low res all the time

People saying all games should be 1080p60 are fools. Once you see how sharp and detailed 4k is on oled, it’s easy choice. Nothing should be required

Uncapped? How unoptimized is this this game? Or is it pushing the engine far above the PS5 specs? Or is this a silent PS5 Pro advertisement. Play DD2 at 60fps, uncapped.

Fake gamer spotted?
Just get a pc if you don’t want to adjust. Leave console games to be console games. Tons of options is missing the entire point of console.
Won’t play game because it’s 30 is pathetic.
