If we ever get to OT 2, it should be called:

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive |OT| The bomb has been defused

in game store? ugh

Also, who the hell is excited for militia? Where are the comp maps, Valve? Don't they have statistics, you can see from the matchmaking menus how few people pick cs_ maps to matchmake

"CSGO_Ticket_CommunitySeasonOneSpring2013" "Community Support Pass Season One"

"CSGO_Ticket_CommunitySeasonOneSpring2013_Desc"

"Grants access to Season One's featured community maps on Offical Servers. Proceeds are divided among the featured map creators!"

WTF

Yeah Id rather they just add the maps and let people buy stamps like in TF2

I really really really hope it's just like the TF2 map stamp stuff.

Support pass could mean map stamps for ALL map makers. Valve won't make you pay to access community maps, they never have with their other games.

So heaton was pointing to this in that interview.

Can't see how this will be good for cs :/

And i'm glad that militia is coming (tomorrow?in 2 days?) but i really want mill >_<

Kinda torn. Maps are the lifeblood of CS and the makers getting paid is a great thing. If this leads to the game being free to play it could be a good thing.

It's definitely odd given how many maps TF2 gets but I'm sure there has to be something more than map packs. Skins and hats just don't fit CS and they knew there was no way to monetize it in that way.

Holy crap carrying hostages?

Just cracked 1,000 hours in this game, and it only took 13 months.

Now where's Militia, so I can start that next thousand?

you must have played the beta? I bought it when the actual game came out... and I play a lot now... and i'm not even at 400 hours yet.

where do you play? i play here: www.californiacs.net/forum

I've been playing since February 2012, back in the beta, back when we played nothing but Inferno for one week straight, and goshdarnit we LIKED it (and then we did nothing but Train for TWO weeks straight).

I play comp classic matchmaking with some of my TF2 buddies and people I've met through GO. I'd love to play with some of the NeoGAF CS players.

Update out:

- Added new Hostage Rescue map cs_militia
- Update Hostage Rescue Mode rules
- Hostage positions are randomly assigned at the beginning of the match. The hostages will start at these positions for the entire match.
- Hostages are now carried by CTs instead of following behind.
- Hold +use for 4 seconds to pick up a hostage. (Equipping a rescue kit will decrease the time required to 1 second.)
- CTs win a round when the first hostage is rescued.
- Reduced round timer. Round time is extended when the first hostage has been picked up.
- Rebalanced money rewards to accommodate new rules.
- Hostages now indicate whether they are above or below you on the radar.
- cs_office, cs_assault, and cs_italy have updated to use random hostage spawn points.
- Added convars to modify new hostage rules
-- mp_hostages_max - Sets the maximum number of hostages to spawn.
-- mp_hostages_rescuetime - Setting 0 removes the time extension when CTs pick up the first hostage.
-- mp_hostages_spawn_farthest - Setting 1 forces hostage spawn points to choose be the farthest possible combinations.
-- mp_hostages_spawn_force_positions - Setting a comma separate list (ex: 0,2 ) forces specific hostage spawn point combinations.
-- mp_hostages_spawn_same_every_round - Setting 0 randomizes the hostage spawn points every round.
-- mp_hostages_takedamage - Setting 0 allows hostages to be hurt.
- Added hostage entity properties for new hostage rules
-- HostageSpawnRandomFactor - Allows to increase probability of hostage random spawning rules to use that spawn point.
-- HostageSpawnExclusionGroupN - Hostages sharing same spawn exclusion group will never spawn together.
- The action of defusing a bomb will now terminate when you turn your view too far from facing the bomb.
- Players always play a quiet client-side jump sound that can only be heard by the jumper.
- Players play the regular jump (step) sound when moving greater than walk speed that can be heard by both the jumper and all clients in earshot.
- The timer that performs the random map selection visuals now properly gets killed when the scoreboard hides.
- Fixed convar mp_weapons_allow_map_place not properly eliminating map-placed weapons. NOTE: FY servers will need to set this convar to 1.
- Added an option to func_dustmotes entity volumes that lets them choose to not be affected by wind.
- Fixed in-game clipping for triple-monitor rendering configurations.
- Added overtime indicator to GOTV spectators miniscoreboard.
- Radar should now correctly follow spectated player when spectating via GOTV.
- Adjusted score and MVP rewards for gameplay events related to planting, defending and defusing the bomb, and for reaching, protecting and extracting hostages.
- Steam overlay game details will now correctly show players score.
- Fixed special characters of player name not correctly displaying in some UI elements.
- Fixed a bug where friends were banned from joining parties where one of the members failed to recently accept a competitive match.

Played a bit of the new update last night. Hostage maps play a lot better because CTs are actually attempting to rescue every round. The way the menus are laid out now are pretty interesting (not sure if I'm totally sold on them yet, but I like the direction they're going in)

I hope they do eventually make this F2P in some way, because I could definitely convince my brother and some friends who haven't played CS since high school to come back to it

Hostage Rescue maps now feel like VIP escort/assassination maps now, to a degree. The CT rescuing the hostage suddenly because the primary target for the Ts, meaning the other CTs need to protect and escort the rescuing CT to the hostage rescue zone.

This update has intensified the need for good teamwork, both on the CT (save the hostages, defend the rescuer) and the T (coordinate the defense of two hostages from rescue) sides.

I am really enjoying the update. I'm hoping more tournaments will start popping up to increase the popularity of CS even more.

Is there a GAF server everyone plays on?

Man, I need my network cable to come in. Upgrading my mobo left me without a legacy PCI slot--where my old card resided.

Now I have a kickass computer with no interwebs.

I suppose all of you are yanks eh? I'd like to be able to play on a server where I know gaffers hang but the ping would just screw me over.

I'm really surprised GAF isn't more into CS. It's probably the largest game without a community on here. There's like 5 regular posters.

It is certainly a little surprising. I'm sure a lot of them played CS, but most moved on.

I spent years and years of my life playing CS 1.4/1.5/1.6

I still miss the good ol' 1.5 and I wish I could play it again. A friend of mine send me Go as a gift and I've been trying to get into it, but is kinda hard. I really wish I could give it some more love... Back in the day I even rented a server for me and my friends...

I lost all my skills...

:(

Im going to check this out now.

No-one plays because they're afraid of not being as good as they used to be. I wish people did play.

Edit: i couldn't hear it.

eh I disagree, people didnt move on to CSS and it was a lot easier than 1.6. Im sure it going f2p is going to make it more popular than 1.6 eventually. and its not like 'no one plays', its usually in the top 10 steam games and theres a huge amount of people in 1.6 and soruce that just play weird custom maps instead of real games
