The supposed quote came from at 7:40 mark:

It's like people don't understand English.

Yeah, he pretty clearly says that it's up to the viewer to decide and that he's never said one way or the other.

I still buy the "The Cowboy Bebop movie occurs in a dream Spike has as he recovers" theory. Him saying "He's just sleeping" as a joke makes me believe it more. Not that it matters.

And the entire series took place in Tommy Westphall's mind.

Funny thread, I just started watching this show again a couple of days ago.
I'm curious to see the new ,,serious'' Watanabe anime next year and whether he's still got it.

Just finished the first episode...gonna take my time with it, probably one episode a day. Reminded me of Serenity a little.

Yeah, there's no reason to rush it if it's your first time and you're gonna have to wait for the second set anyway. One episode a day is a good pace.

It's kind of like Serenity in terms of the whole "space western" thing (though the phrase is a bit more literal in Firefly/Serenity whereas it's a tad more figurative/stage dressing in Bebop, though some of the cities still have that atmosphere to it) but the martial arts and jazz give Bebop a nice twist.

Glad some people are discovering this for the first time! And double glad people are picking the Blu-ray up! We need to support amazing efforts like this! :D

What didn't really stick in my memory and I've now loved in my rewatch is the rocket rescue scene. Love the song and the whole thing's just one big ,,F' yeah'' moment.

Didn't he say his next series is a sci-fi comedy?

Comedy this year. Something ,,serious'' next year, apparently.

The Matrix one is stupidly blatant. Did she get permission?

There are some fair arguments for her actually just officially remixing/sampling certain songs with permission. It's not like remixes/samples are unheard of in the least. All we can really do is notice similarities with no actual knowledge whatsoever around the real-world circumstances. It'd be nice if someone would do some actual research into it. I kinda doubt someone as prolific as her has been "getting away with theft" without it actually hosing her career in some capacity.

Don't have much to add to the thread, just saying I absolutely love this show.

I didn't really appreciate it until I got older. I first watched it when I was about 15 and while I liked it, I remember thinking "come on, get to the main plot episodes" a lot. Now I'm about to turn 22 and this year I re-watched it with my girlfriend and man...this show. The music. The personality. It's fantastic.

Funny enough, my favorite episode now isn't even a "main" spike episode, but the one where they have to find the Beta-player. That ending with Faye is done so, so well.

Glad I rewatched it. I'm not into much anime because, quite frankly, I think a lot of it is just badly written. I try to get into one every one in a while but I usually end up stopping. The only other ones I've really liked are Full Metal Alchemist (both versions), Samurai Champloo, Rurouni Kenshin (the manga) and Death Note, all of which I REALLY enjoyed however, though Death Note stumbles at the end. This show though? One of my favorite TV shows ever, anime or no.

I really hope that Bluray comes over to North America. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

The whole thing is another thematic riff on the ending. It doesn't make a lot of sense unless it's a precursor to the ending.

To add fuel to the fire the "comedy" is basically being made with the same people he made cowboy bebop with

Watched the first few episodes yesterday. Man the picture quality is sweeeet on this Blu-ray! Massive jump over my old Beez Remix DVDs. Bebop itself definitely still holds up, so much style and dat Yoko Kanno soundtrack! The English dub is still great too. Great first release for Anime Limited!

Thanks for the amazon info. The reviews of the box set sound very promising. This will be my third box set of Bebop.

EDIT: Kids on the Slope is £22 too. Is it good?

Is there any dub besides Japanese and English?
