Catering to these losers smh

perfect for everyone here on gaf

survival horror on journalist difficulty... i mean if this means more people will buy and support this awesome game im down, but it will lose a lot of tension

They announce a difficult option as if it's a DLC or something. WTF.

I ended the game and thought it was a bit punishing at first but then it becomes pretty normal as you start to get stronger.

It's a very tough game, but a great story, that def limits its audience. I could just about manage it, would I be able to in my 50s or 60s? Possibly not, no hard in having accessibility options so long as the default mode is the level at which the creators wanted it to be.

Will buy now. Also I rather spend money on games I can possibly beat then games I can't beat.
Incredible to me how poor of a job your parents must've done to not encourage you to think critically and overcome obstacles in life.

For the record after like 3 hours in this game you are swimming in healing items and ammo. Normal mode is easy mode in games now 99% of the time. Shit hard mode on death stranding 2 was still piss easy.

Journalists really did a job on this game talking about how difficult it is...

A very, very stupid and ignorant question: how is it comparing with Dead Space? Does it stand by its own? In general, not just difficulty.

As the resident Cronos stan...sure! If they think this'll eek out some more sales, go for it. I thought the difficulty was shockingly perfect for a modern game. It rewarded paying close attention to environmental storytelling, good positioning and properly placing shots. Not something you see much anymore.

I'm on playthrough #3 now and I love this game top to bottom, seriously. I hope it moves some additional copies for them and I'd shit myself over a sequel.

Honestly, as someone who's completed the game, it's not that difficult. It's only hard at the beginning, when you don't yet understand what the game wants from you, how to behave, and most importantly, how to use the environment. The game becomes significantly easier once you understand this.

My friend's girlfriend plays all her games with a Youtube walkthrough.
She watches the video for a minute then repeats what she saw in her game. Rinse & repeat.

Kills all suspense, sense of discovery and immersion.
Give her a game with randomly generated locations and enjoy the show. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

The issue this game ran into is that it looks like Dead Space but actually plays by pretty different encounter rules and some journalists couldn't meet it on its own terms for some reason. The enemies and levels are perfectly designed around its moveset and you never need a dodge nor melee really but because some people can't adjust and it baffles me. The very first locked down arena teaches you everything if you "listen".

I loved that about it. It takes heavy inspiration but ends up doing its own thing that's just different enough for it to feel quite unique imo. I also applaud them for really doubling down on brains beating brawns aka good positioning, maximizing each shot, patience for kiting enemies into "traps" etc.

Some people are gonna tell you that it is almost as good, i thought it was nowhere close.
Gameplay-wise, it's more a matter of taste, they play differently. That's why some people prefer Dead Space, while others prefer Cronos.
In terms of lore and story, I found Cronos more interesting, .

Well i vastly prefer the gameplay of dead space because cutting limbs is more interesting and involved and satysfying than fire shanenigans or charged shots, and the remake added some of the best gore you can find in a videogame, no need to tell you how important good gore is in a horror game with monsters.

Same for lore and story, i didn't cared about anything i saw in cronos but i like isaac and his struggle and the lore of dead space.

Cronos enemy design is also dull as fuck and enemy design is supremely important for me in an horror game.

That's normal—we're all different people and have different tastes. I enjoy both franchises. The main mistake I see with Cronos is that it's being compared to Dead Space, even though gameplay-wise, they're completely different. Cronos is unlikely to appeal to players who don't like reading notes, listening to recordings, etc, as the game focuses heavily on the story and the actual investigation you're conducting. In Dead Space, you're essentially just going from point A to point B. Both games are good, they're just different.

I'm a huge Dead Space fan and I think Cronos is very different and stands on its own. It just happened to do like every fucking thing I wanted so even its shortcomings like no really splashy gore kind of fades because the sum of its parts was so good to me. There's a general air of gloom and sadness to it that really works.

The whole lore of the enemies being "orphaned" humans seeking connection makes the designs work for me. If you look at the face models and that vile orange-y color, it's very eerie imo.

But Dead Space Remake is a total GOAT tier game polished to perfection to me. They're both fantastic for different reasons imo.

WTF, the game isn't even difficult, not even on hard mode without NG+ did I struggle. Pity devs have to cater to a bunch of pussies

I would say the default difficulty for original Evil Within is harder than Cronos.

People really exaggerating Crono's difficulty......its difficult if this game is your first time ever playing survival horror game.

It's not that for me, i love reading notes in these games, i just didn't gave a fuck about anything that was happening.

Well I did beat Bloodborne so I think I did over obstacles.

This is the same type of deal as people who play Hunt: Showdown and call it "clunky" because the gunplay revolves around period-accurate guns from the 1890s and they can't adjust to what the game actually is. Yea, if I play Hunt like Doom, it's gonna be a bad time.

Ultimate drinking game: Attend a game journalist conference. Shake hands with everyone you meet. Take a shot every time a male journalist's hand is softer than your wife's. Keep 911 dialed in your phone so when the alcohol poisoning kicks in someone can just hit the big green button.

These kids wouldn't have survived gaming in the 80's & early 90s.

There was a reason those controllers were damned near indestructible. :pie_roffles:
