Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.2 Announced (PS5 Pro patch is not included in this update)

8 million copies of the expansion sold, so 1.6 million sold on PS5.

Base game has sold 30 million. Going with the numbers they shared (20-25 percent depending on the year) that's about 6-7.5 million copies sold on PS4/PS5. So impressive, but hardly the main source of sales.

Of course they should enhance it for the Pro, and it's disappointing that they are not doing it yet.

Where are you getting the PlayStation numbers from?

Regardless that is a lot of sales and I'd reckon they made as much if not more from selling on the console platforms vs steam.

To the 🤡's who don't think they should enhance this for the Pro...make sure you keep that same energy when the 5000 series and other future PC upgrades release.
You need more than a slightly more powerful GPU to make an upgrade worth the effort. PSSR is not a safe improvement, raytracing reflections are very heavy in this game so the best they can do is not touch anything and let DSR improve the image a bit and have a more stable FPS.

It's an estimation based off data that's a year old.

20% of 8 million would be 1.6 million, but that's 20% in November of 2023 vs 8 million in November of 2024. It assumes the platforms trended the same.

It's not a slightly more powerful GPU.
Other upgrades(although slight) exist in hardware.
We don't know how much of a upgrade PSSR offers or could offer yet.

From the first tweet I shared. That is 8 million total with 20% being on PlayStation, hence 1.6 million. It is just covering the expansion but the base game numbers are roughly the same:

30 million total was announced here:

The only thing i want is 3rd person view update, that would make me replay the game
IF it had that, I'd probably give the game a passing score (for me). If not, it's whatever. I realize a lot of people are in love with it (the game) but I was and still am far from impressed.

We have the data from 2020/2021 as well. PS4/5 share started at 28% for 2020, went down to 20% for 2021 and now the 2023 numbers for the PS5 expansion are at 20%.

Seems a bit unlikely it would suddenly shift dramatically. Being in the 20% range seems very likely.

2020 and 2021 numbers are for the base game, not expansion. 2023 % is for the expansion only. Seeing as the base game fell off on consoles, it would be perfectly reasonable to assume the same for the expansion and platform sales are under 20% for PS5.

Of course no actual numbers for the PlayStation versions of they're games.

Nice try but nobody is turning down that PlayStation money.

CDPR already took NVidia's money, and they have much more.

It’s possible, likely even, but I can only go off the available data at hand.

Yes it's a small improvement in GPU power, it's only 67% for almost double the price (which doesn't even translate to 67% more performance due to memory bandwidth limitations, let alone CPU), in comparison the PS4 Pro was 128% more GPU powerful than the PS4, and the One X 360% more than the One.

Plus PSSR eats up that extra percentage of performance, so in games that already had good image quality it's useless.

Is the game actually good now or is it good as in "it's not a tragedy like it released. they turned it into a playable thing but the real problems still persist"?

As someone with 250h in i can tell you that there are still a lot, really a lot, of issues.

Still lot of stability issues on my end (7950X3D/4090). Sometimes i can play 5h straight without any issue, another time game crash every 30 minutes
Awful (really awful) AI. All ennemies are stupid AF, the police appears out of nowhere when hitting someone who happened to jump in front of your car. NPCs are generic idiots.
Gigs & secondary quests all share the same design : Go into building with the same props, cameras, do the same stuff, go out. It's far from the beautiful side content from The Witcher serie.
Lots of minor bugs that adds up to sometimes a very frustrating experience : Flying NPCs, traffic cars going on mayhem for no reason.
As a former high level chivalry player, melee counter/parry is a clusterfuck and completely broken. Edit : I mean timing is shit.

... And yet i'm 250h in because it has an incredible genuine dystopian Blade Runner feel, with lots of good moments, lots of story moments even made me shed tears because they are genuinely describing the future of mankind and the void our entire generation experience.
Some characters are very attaching and well developed.
The city itself and it's outskirts are amazing to play with. Jumping everywhere quickly becomes an addiction
Multiple way to play, slicing ennemies with the katana at end level is fun AF, some firing weapons are great. Stealth is also a thing but ends up being extremely time consuming though.
4 endings to discover.

It's a complete love-hate relationship, like the girlfriend you argue with everyday but still end up loving.

Huh? Secondary jobs have incredible variety. Wtf? You got the whole River quest line that leads you to investigate a man who kidnaps young boys to bring to his farm. The Rache Bartmoss quest that leads you on a goose chase. Finding Johnny’s body. Sinnerman…so many memorable and interesting side-missions. No idea how you got the impression that they’re all the same.

He's prolly confusing gigs with side quests. Even so, clearly hasn't done all the gigs as some of them have some cool story/twists, but yeah, most of them are pretty basic with the exception of Phantom Liberty gigs which are awesome and are well designed/story-full. Side-quests in cyberpunk are better than the main quest and probably the best characters/stories anyone will ever encounter in games. Imagine Bloody Baron but 10 times more. River Ward side quest, Judy side-quest, FUCKING PANAM side quest, Kerry side-quest, are all 30 hours of amazing stuff.

Sounds like a your pc issue. I've played the game 4 times and never had 30 min crashes even day one.

Nothing awful about the npc's. They're industry standard.

It's not. You just dont know how it works. Katana parry is insanely OP assuming you got the stamina for it.

That's what I'm thinking. Gigs are just quick and easy, but side-jobs have whole story lines behind them.

Just my point of view.
Saying "I don't know how it works" won't change my mind.
But you're welcome to feel different than me about what i say.
After 250h in i think my points are valid enough, can't have the same opinion (this would be terrible anyway don't you think).

Also you completely missed the pros on the second paragraph, which is quite sad.

Reading your post is making me think of my thoughts about Final Fantasy XV.

Love / hate relationship right there. Loved it besides every wrong with it.

I am going to wait for the patch and the major mod updates and finally do my 2nd playthrough sometime early next year.

What they would even do with that Pro patch?

-PSSR could potentially look bad in their game
-120fps is not possible thanks to CPU
-RT they use is very heavy and AMD unfriendly, I doubt they would be able to add even RT reflections with 45% upgrade in power

Increased resolution? Game already have DRS.

Why? And why do others do it if they don't have to? They wouldn't really have to change much, just bump up some settings and use RT shadows, which is already implemented in the basic version. The game ran fine on PS5/XSX, it's not like they had to reinvent the wheel.

I love CDPR for their ambitious approach to their products, but they suck at resource management.

If they want to milk console gamers by selling them games at full price, it would be good if they took some responsibility. Otherwise they should stick to PC gaming only.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
I honestly don't care. I play on PC. I've played through several times. If they DID make a PS5 Pro patch I'd be stoked for you guys. But why get mad at the developers for not catering to the less than 1% of people that own a PS5 Pro?
I doubt it's less than 1 % tbh. It's not like pro has ceased

sweet looking forward to it! I'm about 30% through Phantom Liberty and since I got my Steam Deck - it's so good using cloud save to jump between PC <> Xbox SX <> Steam Deck. Can't wait to see what the updates are!

This game needs actual activities on the map not hidden away in side missions.these activities should open up more missions and work .not the other way around

CDPR making me look bad. I thought that when they said they were done with the game they were done with the game.

But since they’re not, they should make a PS5 Pro patch. The fact that they literally said this isn’t a PS5 Pro patch proves that they know people care about this more than whatever they put in the game.

Damn, after their own report no one was working on the game I thought there'd be no more updates...

Guess this one must've been stuck in the QA pipeline for ages. Hopefully bug fixing was the priority and we get a stable version for the long haul.

It would be wild if they kept updating this while the whole studio has transitioned to UE5.

My guess is that they will eventually come back to it and release a Pro patch sometime before the release of Orion for easy marketing. It makes sense, too, since the Pro user base will be larger by then.

I can confirm. It is not as memorable as Witcher 3, not by a long shot, but I am wondering if me being from Eastern Europe plays into this (I swear to God the way the wind blows before the storm exists only in Eastern Europe, same with the golden hue when the sun begins to set).

I have a feeling the activities in CP2077 are also very same, the only memorable quest I remember (outside the main one) was the murderer keeping people in storage on an abandoned farm, that was really good. Also the JS grave one. I would however say the main story in CP2077 is way stronger than in W3.

Who am I kidding, I will play the shit out of this game on a stronger SteamDeck.
