Season finale tonight!

The Lovers

'The Lovers' The Pazzis prepare a murderous plot for Easter Sunday. The Turk tells Leonardo where to find the Book of Leaves. Lucrezia makes a confession as Leonardo attempts to save the Medicis.

I'm excited about the finale tonight. Starz played reruns of last week's episode a few times this week, so I watched it again last night.

Cliffhanger!

Happy that the assassination was partially unsuccessful but we still lost the Golden Boy.

Am I the only one to find out the Pazzi conspiracy actually happened in real life! I went on wikipedia and spoiled myself, lol at who Giulino bastard becomes in the future.

Hmmmm, bit of a letdown after last week. I can understand leaving a few loose ends before the new season, but that's a ridiculous cliffhanger. How many times does Giuliano have to die on this show? :/ Anyway, I felt like they lost a lot of momentum and the pacing/plotting were way off. Oh well, it garnered enough good will from me to watch next season when it's on.

This is how I felt as well. It was basically all build up to a boiling point that we never got. Also bringing Guliano back, just to kill him back feels really cheap and like a spit to the face.

The perfect example of how NOT to end a season. You want to sum up at least some part of the plot or a conclusion to an event while teasing the next chapter for the next season with a cliffhanger. That was just cliffhangers all around with no real satisfying end.

Still enjoy the show due to its setting and Lucrezia who has me absolutely in love like no other actress on TV for some reason. Absolutely gorgeous AND she plays a badass character. She's a younger and prettier Angelina Jolie to me.

I'm hoping shows like this one convince other people to get creative with their settings. Whether strictly historical or loosely based on history, there's nothing better than to relive the past and piece together parts of real history you know with the crazy events and characters of a show. That's why "Rome" will always be in my top five shows of all time, but I guess these shows based around history cost a shitload to do though much like Rome. Hopefully cheaper and more believable CGI can help bring more of these shows to fruition.

Quite the cliffhanger. But they really shouldn't have left so many things unresolved, we didn't get any resolution whatsoever. Almost felt like the type of episode you would have before a season finale.

Wow. I had no idea.

I love how they've woven fantasy into historical "fact".

I believe Rome's expensive set burning down to the ground was the leading cause of that show's demise, so yeah, these period pieces, even using CGI, tend to be incredibly expensive.

So is this show any good?

Thinking of watching through it as its only eight episodes.

It's good, there isn't much criticism against it except that they did not resolve any of the storylines for season 1 in the end.

The main cast is strong, even some of the secondary characters are good too.

There is some fantasy in it, what I like about the fantasy elements is its not in your face it always comes as a subtle pleasant surprise and makes perfect sense.

Kind of a cheesy cliffhanger but other than that a good finale. I never in a million years would've thought this show would be as good as it is, but so far it's my second favorite new show of 2013 (after Hannibal).

I loved that Giuliano was alive and it made his subsequent death even more shocking.

Whoa, really? Have you seen Banshee or Orphan Black? (my top two so far)

Nope haven't watched either of those, though I've heard great things about both. New 2013 shows I've watched in the order I liked them: Hannibal, Da Vinci, The Following, Defiance, The Americans, Family Tree.

I lived my first 31 years of life in Florence, and it's quite entertaining to see this crazy twists on all the history and characters we were taught about in school and just usual florentine lore which is always talked out. I guess that automatically spoils lots of thing to me even without looking up (knew from the start that Giuliano was gonna survive Lucretia's stab unless they would strand greatly from factual history, although the Pazzi's scheme, named "La congiura dei Pazzi" was to big of an historical event to be ignored by the show.)
Leonardo Da Vinci is considered the utmost pride of our city, but also Lorenzo is always depicted as the best leader of our golden age. Still todays many children are named Lorenzo and Leonardo after those great two. Like everybody in Florence still loves them, seriously.

There are many errors going around in the show, both historical and in the scenery (some places didn't look like this in those days since they are more recent by far, like Piazza della Signoria which was much smaller and was enlarged only in Italian unification, 4 centuries later), but overall this show had a special meaning for me, seeing all the time places I passed by uncountable times in my life and a fantasy renditions of characters I heard of and read about uncountable times, on top of all their portraits in museums; and I must say it portrays Renaissance Florence MUCH better than Assassins Creed

That fucking ending. Wow. Great episode. Guiliano was such a boss... died once, came back, blew the lid off the conspiracy, died again. Also liked seeing Lucrezia get fucking ethered by Leo. Oh, and her dad is the Pope's brother!? Though I called that to myself for some reason when I saw the Pope walking to his jail cell.

Wonder what happens to Lucrezia now that Lorenzo knows she's a traitor and that Leo was fucking her.

Haha, holy crap.

Only just caught up and finished the season.

EL OH EL at that finale. Not only bringing Giulino back after episode 7 just to kill him anyway, but leaving the cliffhanger THERE? And yet, I'll be back next season because it's a fun show for the most part.

Sorry to bump this thread guys, but I was wondering how the series ended up? I mean quality wise, not spoilers. I watched the premiere back in April and was kinda meh on it and got sidetracked with other stuff.

Is it worth getting into?

Yeah, it becomes pretty awesome. Tons of fun. I think the Dracula episode was the best, but the finale was pretty epic.

Da Vinci's Demons has won the Emmy's for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music and Outstanding Main Title Design!

Just saw Bear's tweets about this. I assume that tonight was the "other awards" before the televised show?

Haven't watched this series, but I have listened to some of the tracks, cause I'm a big Bear McCreary fan. Great stuff as usual, emmy's been long overdue for him.

Yes, it is definitely well-deserved. The opening sequence is absolutely gorgeous with such beautiful music. Congrats to the team! That's probably my favourite television opening right now. When I was watching DVD, I'd watch the credits sequence a couple of times before each episode cause I liked it so much.
