Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc PC |OT| It's getting Steamy in here...

OS X always seems to be ignored by Japanese studios. I'm not sure why. They ported this to iOS, so it wouldn't have been that hard to use that as the basis for a Mac version. Although it looks like they've pulled the iOS version from the App Store as well? I guess the only way for me to ever play Danganronpa is to pick up a PSTV.

That's the problem with spoiler tags. Guy you quoted revealed major spoiler. You didnt. You never know what to expect. But the thing is, people shouldnt expect spoilers in a OT.

The posters in the Cold Steel OT apparently do not feel the same way lol. There is more black text than regular on some of the pages I swear.

Well, that thread's almost two months old, so there's that. How else would you talk about story beats? Either it's in OT with tags, or in the spoiler thread where you most likely will get the rest of the story spoiled for yourself.

I think tagged story talk is fine in the OT, but something like Rats Off To Ya's post was reeaally stretching it since it was so unneeded. It wasn't actual discussion.

Tagged talk will have happen here as any talk in other Danganronpa threads will involve spoilers from future games. Hopefully people who have already played those will let those experiencing this game new be without hinting at future shit.

That thread has been pretty terrible at handling spoilers. From not labeling spoilers to people who have played unlocalized sequels revealing stuff.

Hard to know for sure, but this seems like the kind of game that's likely to work in OS X via Wineskin.

Wait, why would you have to redo an entire trial? You can save at almost any point. I think the only time you can't is if you get thrown into a mini-game.

Essentially, if you get water on a vita screen, it tends to act wonky even after you wipe it up. It will continue to act as though you are rapidly tapping the screen, and is only fixable via hardware reset.
The tapping caused the text to scroll even faster than the skip button and just dumped me into that mini-game before I could do anything.

I'm trying to be careful with anything that may spoil the game or even its components. So the spoilers I have posted are not honestly spoilers for the story, just for mechanics. I'm just being careful. I'd rather err on the side of caution and respect my fellow gaffers who are interested in the series by respecting their right to enjoy the game unspoiled, than say something I think is a small detail without thinking and have someone pick up on it.

The exact same thing happened to me a while back, I was wondering what was up but ended up forgetting all about it heh.

Oh boy, if you thought the characters/story in 999 were boring and shallow, I honestly wouldn't even bother playing Danganronpa if I were you.

And 999 had plot holes? What? Characters would say too much 'random' stuff? Someone wasn't paying attention or simply didn't understand the story.

One of things that bothered me is that how did zero survive and do all what she's doing if she died as a child, I understand the whole theory that time is flat and she's alive because you saved her because of what she does in the future, still I thought it was pretty bad and makes no sense, especially when she gets saved by some sort of future/past mind connection.

How did zero know, as she was growing up that she had to do what she's done in order to save her self? How is she even capable of what she did? setting up a huge place filled with sophisticated traps and puzzles? What if the receivers solved the puzzles on their own, how is that even measurable in the experiment? It just makes no sense to me.

I also hated how everyone was a scientist, sure they were involved in some kind of experiment, but that doesn't make them scientists, so yes I felt their dialog is random and out of place, I remember when Santa randomly talks about the experiment just for no reason when solving one of the rooms

Anyway this is just my opinion :D

999 spoilers follow

999's official website has an "Answers" section that might or might not be the source for what I claim below. Check it out either way.

There is no plot hole for Akane's connection with future Junpei. In timelines where it's no longer possible for you to form that connection, a paradox occurs and the timeline ends (Safe END had this if memory serves).

Santa and Akane played the stock market and acquired funding for the second Nonary Game this way. As for the puzzle design and whatnot, that stuff was present in the first Nonary Game which Akane, Snake, Clover and Santa participated as kids in. Akane didn't design them.

Gotta grant you a point for the seemingly random info dumps although they weren't too jarring most of the time (the freezer was an exception).

PC Gamer reviewed Danganronpa and gave it a 86.

Danganronpa is one of the best story-driven games on PC. The scarcity of interaction, vast quantities of text, and glacial pace will turn a lot of people off, but the story is so compelling that I barely noticed that all I was doing was clicking through lines of dialogue. Monokuma is a deliciously evil villain and the crimes are brilliantly constructed. Just when you think you’ve figured them out, you’ll be blind-sided by some new piece of evidence. If you love adventure games and want to experience something different, Danganronpa is worth investigating.

Glacial pace though? I think it moves forward at a faster pace than most visual novels and detective games do. Unless my points of reference are bad?

Call me crazy, but I wwould like to see a PS4 port just because I think it would be fun to see such a odd path from handheld game, to PC and then to console.

I want a PS4 port not because I want it myself but because EVERYONE SHOULD EXPERIENCE DESPAIR

and then of course experience the vastly superior Danganronpa 2 and Nagito Komaeda.

man DR1 was such a refreshing game when i got it on the vita.

so excited to re purchase this and play on the surface!

glacial pace got me scared for a moment, I can't tolerate that anywhere, including games.
but as I understood from other posts it's not true, or is it?

No. It's fast paced compared to others in the genre and gripping throughout

PC gamer are off their rockers

I'm totally in. Never owned a Vita, but this game has always had my interest. Happy to see this release on steam.

Glacial pace? Try Umineko No Naku Koro Ni.

So much this. While re-reading Episode 1 can get pretty interesting, reading it for the first time was a real drag for the most part since that game sure took its time before the first twilight. Even after that, it takes several episodes before you can come to understand just what in the world's going on. The payoff in the end, however, was a thing of beauty IMO.
Except for poor old Hideyoshi, who barely mattered.

I only wish the game would run on MacOS, though, since I know I'll be getting the game today but won't be able to run it until I go pick my Windows laptop back from getting it checked for a possible mechanical HDD failure.
