If you get the disk read error because you were impatient like me, just verify the game cache... seemed to fix it, I'm unpacking now.

Hit the play button and a window will open up with the extraction progress.

Mine did this too. I shut down steam and restarted, then it showed as unpacking with a time of 15 minutes or so.
