David Jaffe is doing free-to-play shooter

I will back Jaffe, because I am an eternal optimist. I like people that at least speak in a visionary way, I believe he will at least try something significant and if not, call it how it is, he is a pragmatist and an optimist which in some ways are conflicting views, but ultimately he knows how to make game. Good luck to him (and the team he puts together)!

Gotta side with Jaffe with his thoughts.

For a sec, I thought I was crazy not being impressed at all with the star wars thing. Sure it's pretty, but it looks like a cover based shooter. Watch dog looked impressive, then it just became a shooter. The last of us 'conference demo' looked great, but felt super scripted.

The 2 platinum games (P-100 and Rising) were my Games of the Shows due to them actually looking like fun to play.

But it's actually not super-scripted.

Hey guys just what we need the possibly 30th f2p shooter this year!

Honestly there are so many f2p shooters this would have to blow my mind as much as Halo 4/Last of Us for me to give even the slightest of shits.

Huh? What notable, non-garbage F2P shooters have there been?

Tribes. Quake Live. Maaaaybe Blacklight? Maaaaaaaybeeeee Warface?

And Mechwarrior/Hawken are beasts of their own.

There is still plenty to carve into this space from virtually all angles, maybe except MMOs.

Which is why I'm sad that the 'extended demo' isn't out on the webs. I kinda can't trust 'games journalists' opinions for naughty dog stuff now :/
Because that's how it goes usually:

- developer shows a scripted sequence.
- journalist: "Cool, but it's scripted, right?"
- developer: "WHAAAT? No, it's totally not scripted!"
- journalist: "HOOOOLY SHIT, THAT NAUGHTY DOG GAME WAS TOTALLY NOT SCRIPTED!"

Six months later the game will be released, that part is going to be completely scripted and developers will tell you something like "We had to simplify that part cause the A.I. was totally outsmarting the player nine times out of ten".

Actually this is how it went:

- journalist: "Cool, but it's scripted, right?"
- developer: "Nope. Here, let me play the same sequence in a completely different way."
- journalist: "Ok then."
