David Jaffe: Sad, frustrating, potentially super disrespectful news dropping tomorrow about Playstation

This thread, and Jaffe.

Her output is actually... kind of fucking insane.

IF she was told to leave because of the push towards GAAS games then that is quite the loss to be honest. I kind of hope she's picked up at Xbox after seeing that portfolio she has. Lol
"Who? Oh she was a producer linked to a lot of titles…"

"Ah let's insert some GaaS FUD completely ignoring the irony behind what GamePass is meant to drive"

"I hope Xbox hires her"

Nice progression, without the last bit it might have even passed as non console war bait ;).

Sony is preparing for new layoffs in its staff. It's a condition that has been raging throughout the gaming industry for many months, so what the big deal ? There will be further corporate overhauls for PlayStation Studios, probably a way to restructure and optimize everything.
Next time, when interest rates keep rising… at least we know what to expect with tech. Then again rising prices and firing people is a kind of doom spiral way to reduce profits so it makes the problem worse and I do hope something balances this.

Lol

I mean, call it console war bait or not, I genuinely liked the list of the games and losing that talent would be a shame to the industry. 🤷‍♂️

God, I'm so tired of so many gamers on the internet.

It's an almost constant firehouse of snark and pricks.

Goodbye.

So you are going to take the Tommy Tallarico approach because people threw criticism at your tweets?

Come on, of course people are going to have issues with anyone saying they have inside scoop on a big story, but then say "Sorry don't want to reveal". It's annoying when people do that, it's straight up "Look at me, I know something you don't." attitude.

Edit: Seeing what the news actually was, talk about being overly dramatic. Much respect for Connie and what she's contributed, but her leaving Sony is not worth creating some "Sky is falling" tweet.

This is the second piece of information within one week where a water droplet is claimed to be a tsunami. Social media is really human engagement teasing/farming at its worst sometimes.

Way to go wishing economic hardship on people who think differently from you. Gross.

The irony is that these people want us to think exactly like them. And if we don't, they will gleefully try to get us fired, cancelled etc. Just take a whiff of the purple place to see what I mean.

So what is sad, frustrating and disrespectful about some lady changing a job lol. Who fucking cares.
This is honestly deserving of a ban

but this was not world changing for Sony as a company.
TBF davidjaffe davidjaffe also didn't say that it was. I think people are blowing this out of proportion and not actually reading what he said.
He said it was sad news, not death to playstation, not some earthquake, that "new" sony isn't bad at all, that if you like current sony games, probably nothing changes for you, that sony itself is probably not taking a hit, and that it's only really bad for an individual and maybe their team; all of this is reasonable and far from any doom saying speculation that ran rampant in this thread.

He's also obviously looking at it as a developer, and seeing what she was involved with for the past 34 years, I understand how he can feel that it's sad and potentially disrespectful (your work is not your family etc.)

You really feel that this man is bitter about Sony. They must have refused a lot of his shitty project so he's salty.

Yes, Drawn To Death failed, but it is because it was a shitty game, deal with it. Try to see with MS, it suits more with their "standards".

I think he overstated it a bit, but that may be because he worked for Sony and perhaps knew her personally. So it probably hit him harder than those of us on the outside. I never heard of her before in my life.

I do wonder, however, about this happening so close to Jim Ryan's retirement news. Perhaps a shakeup going on in PlayStation land?

Sony has been radio silence about their upcoming projects and only released Spiderman 2 as a 1st party game this year ( correct me if I am wrong, don't want to start a war or anything) so if this is true, it sounds scary.

Hey man, totally unrelated to the topic at hand but I'd just like to say Thank You, for creating one of my favourite characters and franchises in gaming.Even though I don't really agree or enjoy much of what the series has become nowadays what you,Cory and the teams at SSM did at the time with the first two games was pure magical and I'll always cherish those experiences so Thank You!
Here Here.

Media Molecule shut down is my guess, I saw a reply tweet (since deleted) from a verified account saying: "it's true, I spoke to John". Well, John Beech was made the Creative Director of MM earlier this year but who knows, lots of Johns out there lol.
This should be closed by years now. The perfect example of a studio run in a female way.

I think maybe he should have waited until the news came out before sending out his opinions on the matter.

So what is that arrogant Cyril Sneer looking dweeb CultEastwood talking about in his tweet? What has this got to do with Xbox?
It has nothing to do with them, they're just trying to find something to latch on to and have been given some rather weak ammunition. I've already seen some xbox pages commenting that "Sony fans" are "coping" with the news lol, give me a break.

They're desperate to try and make this a SONY IS DOOMED thing when no one knows who she is (no disrespect meant) and it doesn't change anything.

Jaffe and that doomposting style of clickbait feeds into it. It's just pointless negativity.

Pretty much what I expected. Ban all threads about "insiders" farming for clicks and drama.

I've said this time and time again and I'm tired of repeating it. I love GAF but it's too easy to post absolute HORSE SHIT here for clout.

Also davidjaffe davidjaffe can fuck right off. Mods can we please ban the cnut.

I don't get the hubbub. Sure, she might have been integral to Sony, but the percentage of people who even know who she is or what's she's done has to be in the single digits. You just can't whip up outrage over that, even if it were under unfair circumstances.
