Ok so I just saw DotD (2004) and I'm curious about the ending.

There's a short clip of the surviving characters finding some kind of odd mini-zombie floating around in a casket at sea, followed by a plate of maggots. Now what's the deal with that?

I've seen the original movies some years ago when drunk, and I hardly remember anything about them. Do the sequels focus on the same party, or are we supposed to assume they went down when attacked on the jetty?

Mostly I'm curious about the small thing they pick up at sea. It doesn't look like a normal or child zombie, it looks sort of like Gollum from LotR or something. And what's the deal with the maggots?

IIRC, the maggots were actually inside the yacht. It kind of let you know how long it had been since the rich guy had been on the yacht or how clean he kept the place.

As far as the coffin, I thought it was a row boat and they lifted something and a zombie was underneath. As far as them getting off the boat, I think the assumption is that everyone was killed.

This was months and months ago when I saw it so my memory might be a lil foggy.
