Ah, the DC Cinematic Universe Community Thread, a place so sad and bitter that they would rather talk about Captain America Civil War all day. Because it hurts less. Amirite?

BvS wasn't good but it was critically savaged a lot more than it deserved.

Civil War is good but is getting critically praised a lot more than it should be.

All in all we are looking for a happy medium.

this might be the blu-ray cover art (this is the 4K edition obviously)

CW is hovering around 75 on MC and 7.7 on RT... that's right about where it deserves to be honest.

Man, what the fuck happened to Ezra. This is the last time I saw him in a movie

Also that cover is hideous. And something about the poses don't sit right with me. Batman looks super awkward. Looks like a more expensive porn parody cover

Umberto posting something real ominous regarding WB tower with skulls and caskets and death emojis...

Also tweeted this:

Getting word of a MAJOR exec shakeup at Warners.

RIP DCEU, it was a good run.

I don't really care what they are doing. I just want them to be open about it. I hate having to sort through rumors and figure out what has merit and what is just guess work.

Deadline reporting:

Bill Draper has been promoted at Warner Bros to President, Worldwide Physical Production, stepping into the role formerly held by 47-year veteran Steve Papazian. Deadline reported this week that Papazian is moving into a consulting job.

Clearly that was it right.

How anyone could want any of the people running DC Comics at present to be in charge of the movies is beyond me. That includes Johns.

Can't think of a guy better suited than him to oversee everything and give input. He's the barrier of "nope this isn't what this character would do" and stuff. He'd also oversee the entire theme and running story as well.

Marvel set the standard for cinematic universes, but they dont need to set the rules. I'm not ready to say DC needs a Feige after 2 movies by the same director.

You're trying to go for long form storytelling you need someone over looking it all to make sure it all lines up. Right now that's Snyder.

Just because Snyder has the universe timeline/slate in his office and is credited as a producer on all upcoming films does not make him Feige flying to each set, conflicting with writers and directors, approving castings, etc.. He described it as a sandbox that any filmmaker can play in.

And I'm find with that personally. I like his arcs. I'm invested in where things are going way more than with he MCU at this point.

It's funny, I'm watching through the MCU and next up is Avengers and I'm probably supposed to be all hyped about the team up and conclusion to that phase and I'm just like "Ok... I'll watch it." I don't really give a shit about anyone's arcs nor do I care too much about the characters. Cap seems the best, but his schtick is just so goofy as shit.

After BvS I was taken by complete surprise at how much I wanted to see where these arcs go next. I want to see what happens to a resurrected Superman. I want to see Batman's morals turn back to the way they were. I want to see the past that he's gone through. I want to see Wonder Woman and her past. I'm genuinely excited to see Batman gather these people in a way that I just don't give a shit about in the MCU.

And on top of that I also like the approach of letting the directors do their thing. Do what they're best at. It should give us some better films. It's hard to say that approach doesn't work quite yet when we've only seen one director. Should be talking about that after Suicide Squad.

Johns is a great ideas man, but he's since lost his ability to see a running story through. He also doesn't have much understanding or care for characters like Wonder Woman or Cyborg.

I think Warner's current director driven universe is fine. It may be an issue in that the results are a more unwieldy, but I think it could lead to stronger individual films down the line. There's nothing saying that WB would benefit from a Feige type beyond people saying they need one.

Fuck a Feige. Don't want one vision making its presence felt in every movie.

It's a collaborative effort, making sure the characters are right. But filmmakers should be free to go from there.

4K home video is going to be the next major thing? How much do they up-charge over the typical blu-ray, DVD, digital package? Can't foresee rebuilding my library but newer films, maybe for the day I can look into 4K.

I'm waiting for 4K projectors to come down in price... if I'm doing 4K I need something in the 100"+ range

Seems one of these changes is Affleck is now EP on Justice League
