Dead Rising 2: Case Zero |OT| A Taste of Whats To Come!

bish gets all the credit :)
Wish they would have separated your food items from weapons. It was a pain in the first game, and looks to be a pain in this one. I know, I know, it makes it more hectic. Yeah, but it's still a PITA.

Just got home from work, gotta say I'm surprised to see the overwhelming positive reaction. I was expecting something more lukewarm like Crackdown 2. Downloading now :D

"DR2" no wonder I couldn't find it using search. What the fuck dudes did MS take a bunch of fucking crazy pills over the weekend?

And lol, they changed the name at some point during the day back to "Dead Rising 2" so just now when I went to search for "DR2" nothing came up :lol

Awesome, just got Ending D! Looks like tomorrow night I'll be starting over. :lol

I'm actually amazed at how much of the look, feel and sound they got right. It's incredible. I feel almost bad for newcomers though, because the crazy hard jank is still there.

So is anyone else enjoying the little details? Like when you have a box of nails, carton of juice, cash register, etc. You can hear the loose items/liquid inside, I really really think that's awesome for some reason. The pay phone that is randomly disconnected and beeping. Whatever item you have that you climb with clanks with the appropriate sound of the object.

Also, fire extinguisher. Find it if you haven't. Its in the general store.
Found a rotten hotdog in the casino trashcan that made me puke about 6 times.

Wish we could actually get the full combo cards. I'm dieing to see what Paddle Saw, Air Horn, and Electrake do with their supers. I hope heads blow the hell up with that Air Horn lmfao.

Check out the blender when you get the time. There's some interesting concoctions available:

Quickstep, Repulse, Nectar, Painkiller, Zombait, Spitfire, Randomizer

Blend a beer and a bottle of Whiskey and Chuck will live up to his name.

I know it's silly but when your daughter says "I feel sick," I actually felt something. Skipped that cutscene the 2nd time around.

I would like to formally apologize to Blue Castle Games and the nation of Canada. When their involvement was first announced, I was very critical. I insisted that Capcom Japan were the only ones capable of making a true sequel, and that the makers of "The Bigs" were going to fuck it up. I was skeptical they "got" Dead Rising and were just going to turn it into another 3rd person shooter, or it would just flat out suck like all the other games Capcom farmed out to Western developers this generation.

Blue Castle Games gets it. The dark humor, the cutscenes, the general tone, the character progression, the game's structure; it is all intact and I couldn't be happier. Obviously they have made some refinements and changes, but I agree with them.

My hat goes off to you, Blue Castle Games.

*high-five*

SPOT THE FUCK ON! :D

I loved Bionic Command and really liked Dark Void =P

I was almost creepy how much they really just got it

Also, did an IP really now kick-in for us Germany folk!? If so, that's nuts!

Also, want to give my compliments to Blue Castle as the controls in this are fantastic!

Smooth
would honestly be the best way as to describe it. Just hoping you unlock some sort of dodge move when you level up ....though not that terrible double tap the analog stick shite from DR1

Game has me at a disadvantage ...my heart always goes out to children in peril =(
Thought the dynamic already puts it way above DR1 scenario

Just finished my 2nd playthrough, and I have to echo the general sentiments here: Good job Blue Castle.

I don't think many of us were entirely confident that you'd be able to pull it off, but so far so good.

Granted it's only a small bit, but I think they nailed one of my biggest concerns which was the mission structure in parrallel to the open enviroment. They really never demoed it, just bits of chuck wrecking zombies.

Brandon F

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
Just echoing my agreement that this is fantastic. Well beyond worth the $5 and has me recalling just how much I adored dead rising in 2006. The franchise seems to be in great hands and I can't wait the full game.

My only real complaint is having to trudge around gathering some of the obtuse ingredients(battery/construction hat) but it's not too dissimilar from getting the books in dr1. Still great stuff!

Ending F is when you never return with the Zombrex.

Ending D is when you return with the Zombrex, don't save anyone, don't repair the bike in time, and the
military takes you and your daughter
.

Nice! Seems this one really pulled through! :D

I knew people were going to be surprised by it!

Love the game, love the franchise.. but man, that safe room loading time is killer. I know it's pretty much too late to change anything, but it would have been great if there was like a 'mail slot' or something I could just shove the motor cycle parts through so I don't have to walk in and out of the loading screens every 3 minutes.

I know it's probably not going to be as big an issue in the main game, but I'm already fearing similar "go get all the parts to this thing" missions where we are repeatedly running in and out of the safe room.

I actually tried to run around and stockpile all the pieces by the door, but when I took one in, the other pieces all reset to their original positions. I had like 1 minute left on the timer so I was fucked :lol

Just got the A ending, saved everyone and did everything :D This "demo/prequel" really got me kinda pumped for the game now.

Only thing that bugs me on Case Zero is the lack of motion blur. Beating the shit out of a thousand zombies doesn't feel as great as in DR1 because of this, for me at least.

also, i'm a big frank fan and blah blah blah, but chuck is genuinely quite interesting. i think theyve done a good job of portraying how protective he is of his daughter.

I was actually surprised there was a story and a half way decent one at that (for a zombie game), full retail should be a fun romp

yeah the story is there, its simple but effectively told well. then again, DR1 had a pretty awesome story too but everyone is too snobby to admit it.

Don't feel bad, I'm one of the people that missed the first one, and thats one of the things I was worried would disappear. The save system and all of the other complaints about difficulty and jank were things I thought that sounded essential to the experience.

All of these positive reactions make me glad that Capcom branched out to the other platforms so people like me can play the series too.

Just bought and downloaded it.
I'm liking Chuck and digging the game (massive Dead Rising 1 fan). However, is it just my 360 or is the framerate pretty fucking atrocious? The texture quality also is a step back from DR1, especially those of the character models.

Just made myself a paddlesaw. :D

Gah, you mofos are making my hyped for this. I wanted the first Dead Rising but I couldn't read anything on my old SDTV, but I'm looking forward to this now.

I actually have had an HDTV since mid last year, but I just never purchsed DR1 [face_dumb] but reading this thread has me wanting in. Must get points sometime this week.

Yeah, the framerate is a little disappointing, but I’m pretty sure I remember CAPCOM saying that the models and overall performance will be a lot better in Dead Rising 2 since they didn't wanted the file size for Case Zero to be too big.

I got all the parts for the bike and
and his daughter still got caught?
unless...
after the cinematic of assembling the bike it goes back to gameplay to autosave and my file time was 8:59. After that I got that ending. AUGH!

I'm so happy the survivors are smarter. Would be awesome if they patched that into DR1 :lol
Can't wait to play it again tomorrow. It feels like you can do everything in one swoop too...

Played through it once, also got the D ending, which basically means I failed horribly.

Really like the new targeting and throwing things control schemes. Also like the fact that things like money and ATMs respawn. The jumping still feels iffy, but a definite improvement over the first game. Guns feel awesome, the sniper rifle and shotgun are ridiculously powerful.

This has rekindled my hope for DR2, but I still thin I will get it for the PS3. Which renders me playing the XBLA game kind of useless.

What's with the Queen weapon?
