Word to the wise, guys, the game has a really shitty glitch. I was downloading the Vanquish demo while I was playing this, and as soon as the demo finished downloading, Case Zero reset. So now I'm staring at the title screen with my half-hour or so of playtime thrown out the window.

Come the fuck on, Capcom. That is goddamn amateur.

Same here. Luckily I was only 5 minutes in. Unimpressive, to be sure. Hopefully they iron that out in the full game!

Just beat it and man it was fun for 400 points. Quick question do you have to spend 100,000 in the store on one run through?

You can do it over multiple run throughs but I think it has to be on the same save though.

I just need to get the achievement for making all 10 combo items, but I can't find some of the required items. Anybody know where the Spray Paint, Battery, and Pitchfork can be found?
Can't remember the exact spot for pitchfork but:

Spraypaint: On the roof of the gas station, ladder is through the storeroom door in the back.

Battery: Turn Left in the last alley way right before the quarantine zone, it's around the back.

THOSE were your two major complaints? The human AI and the boss fights were much bigger problems with the first game. Thankfully it seems that they've somewhat fixed the survivors at least. They can run through zombies without too much problems. Sadly it seems that the boss fights are just as meh as before. Oh well, it's still fun and it will be even more fun playing with a friend in co-op.

EDIT: ^ Yeah the load times in the first game were terrible, and sadly it doesn't seem to be much better in this game. At least the areas seem to be bigger this time around.

heh, I didn't save too many survivors in DR1 (mostly because of the AI problems). My aiming comment goes hand in hand with the bosses though. The assault rifle allows you to move and aim at the same time, which I'm assuming will make the psychos much less of a pain in the butt.

And I didn't find the saving to be a HUGE issue, but it was until I figured out you weren't supposed to make it through the game the first time through.

One thing I hate (and I guess its gameplay choice to prevent u you from stacking items), u can't switch weapons when u have the bike parts

last time I played DR was when one the 1st one came out.
really like the game.

I played for about an hour and had trouble finding parts for the bike but overall I really like what Ive seen so far and had fun playing. Definitely worth it if you're a fan of the original.

My only minor gripe is the framerate tends to take a dive at times.

Also how the heck do you save Dick on top of the van?.. He asks if can I get rid of the zombies.. I killed a bunch around the van but apparently there's more to it than this lol.

The pitchfork can be found in 2 places. Don't remember the exact place for one of them, but there are plenty of pitchforks in the hardware store near the quarantine area. Right next to the maintenance room. It's the same store that has 2 chainsaws.

the list is on the previous page or two of this thread depending on your settings.

Anyone notice the box art changed?

It used to have the Xbox 360 header earlier today, now it has an ARCADE one.

Seriously, I really hope we find out that motherfucker's been eaten.
That or an unlockable cutscene where he's tortured with a phone.

In the first game if you played infinite mode, one of the first humans you kill is Otis. Sweet, revenge.

They did it. They nailed the save system. They gave the whiny babies their extra slots and saving after every part of a case file is completed, but made it so you can still save your stupid ass into a corner and be completely fucked. Those wonderful bastards.

:lol nice.

Still stuck trying to get the sword :( and how to get into the place to get it.

Head back to roof where Bob is. Walk east until you come to the grey box thats in front of the emergency escape from the window of the hotel. While on the grey box, face north and you'll see that you can jump to the building across from the alley.

Took me a while to figure that out too. How do you get rid of scratch cards btw?

Lv3 and still no speed improvement. Seeing as the prologue is capped at lv5, will it even improve here?

I read on the previous page that it doesn't. Which OBVIOUSLY damn sucks. Chuck is like a damn turtle in this game. I need mah fast Frank who pulls out zombie's guts and shit :(

Frank was slow as shit at first too. They seem to have the exact same level system as in the first game.

At least you'll be level 5 from the start in DR2. You get a speed increase around level 7-8, don't you? I can't really remember...

I think you have to save all the people in one play through it wasn't that bad for me though. Just make sure to equip each survivor with a weapon before you leave the room with them.

Ah 200/200. Full day of gaming totally worth the $5 spot. Very much looking forward to the full retail release. With that said I still haven't got S so I may have to come and do that too. Oh yea already 60k up on the leaderboards.

Edit ah no S.

There is no S. It's not like the people you save can get on that motorbike with you.
I see. Didn't saving people affect your ending in DR1?

Has anyone tried finishing the game with surplus Zombrex?

Don't really remember how much it affected the ending. I know that you didn't have to save 50 people to get the best ending at least. From what I remember it was all about getting everything done in time.

Speaking of levelling up, I had to reload a couple of times because I couldn't figure out how to get a second Zombrex, and I noticed that the perks you get upon levelling up seem somewhat random. The first time I reached level 4, I got an extra inventory slot, but the second time, I got a counterattack for when a zombie grabs you from behind. I'm now level 5, and still don't have that extra inventory slot. I wonder what this means for the full game. It would suck if the perks were random in that too.

Oh, and somebody mentioned earlier that the game crashed on them when a marketplace download finished. This also happened to me, so it's obviously a common problem. Also, I had some kind if glitch in the credits, where the models for all the objects (ie. anything that wasn't Chuck, Katey, the dead guy, or the background) were invisible. It was pretty surreal seeing Chuck and Katey pull up on an invisible motorbike, Chuck reach into an invisible truck, and then give Katey an invisible backpack.

Well, that was about as good as you could possibly expect from such a miniature, pint-sized Dead Rising Jr. The save system is a little pussified, but you can actually start a genuinely new game at level 1, which is a pretty good tradeoff - and it's built in such a way that if you make yourself stick to a single slot per game, it's exactly like the first game, time limits and all. I'd have to call it an improvement, overall. The rest of the game doesn't seem to have lost anything compared to the first game, either. It's still an easy and pretty leisurely do-what-you-want game if you don't bother rescuing a bunch of survivors, yet you really have to move your ass if you want to get all 12 achievements in a single run. I was skeptical, and now I'm pretty pumped up for the full game, so I guess mission accomplished, Capcom (again).
Now the only question is whether Case Zero carryovers and getting to play co-op with a friend is worth the performance hit and the $20 premium of buying the 360 version over the PC. I wish GFWL/XBL cross-compatibility was more common than Shadowrun and Lost Planet 1 :(

The bonuses you get on level up are random; it was like that in the first game, too. I think it's weighted so that you're more likely to get certain upgrades in a certain level range, but it was always random.

So here I sit with my US Live account - created years ago when I was living in the USA, with all the Arcade games I have downloaded, all the DLC I have purchased, and the gamerscore I have accumulated. Having relocated to Canada in the last couple years, I have had few issues, save for Microsoft's inflexible and assinine policy of not letting me transfer my Live account between countries.

And now today. Upon trying to download DR2: Case Zero, I am greeted with the message "This item isn't available from your current location". Really, Microsoft, really?!? Not fucking available in Canada? Or wait - are you telling me just because I migrated to the country next door, and am spitting distance from the border, that I have to start all over again with a new Live account, because of your shitty DRM?

Really?

FUCK YOU.

Awwww. While I feel for you, I'm rocking my chainsaw battle oar. In a waitress dress. ;)
