Dead Rising 2: Case Zero |OT| A Taste of Whats To Come!

Only 400 points, a taste of what the full game will play like, a story that's actually interesting, a setting different from a mall...Count me in. Hopefully it gets me excited for Dead Rising 2. As of right now I can't say I'm really too interested in it.

Can't wait for this! Hopefully it's good as others mentioned this will pretty much make or break a Dead Rising 2 purchase for me.

Only puzzling aspect is why this thing isn't on Steam and PSN as well...

Inafune felt the team had priorities other than making a buck. It wanted to give fans a chance to understand the events of Dead Rising 2 while providing them with a simple way to try out the game.

Odd, isn't it? I guess Inafune didn't want people who use PSN or Steam to understand the events of Dead Rising 2.

Well, the leaked version of Case Zero has some huge issues with loading times but other than that it seems fine... though I hope the zombies don't disappear like that in the full game.
Literally half of that video is loading screens, and the game itself just seems to be a load of fetch quests... running back and forth.

So... it's just like the first game? Day 1 for me.

Wow, at the loading screens in the Caze Zero gameplay videos....
Even more worrying that its loading from hdd; on the other hand, dead rising is the kind of game where you stay in one area a long period of time

Daddy's fighting zombies, if Katey can use an XBox controller then she can figure out how needles work

Lol, its definetly going to be an interesting game mechanic that's for sure.

Youre like the meanest dad, here pumkin just stick this big needle in a big juicy vein and press it

I'm totally fucking confused. I get that this is a 2-6 hour chunk of game.

Is it also part of the retail experience, or is it a separate entity using the same engine but with different locations?

Different location entirely I believe.

Daughter: Hey Daddy I'm squeamish.
Chuck: *zombie is biting his small intestine and dragging it away like a noodle because he got ambushed on the way back*
Daughter: Now how am I ever going to take my medicine. :(

Come on, if I had a daughter i'd do my best to give her the medicines and not make her stab herself, kids that age don't 'get' shit, I think it's a funny dynamic.

I'll check out Case Zero. If its good, I'll buy the game on PC and save money any way you look at it. :D

I am still trying to figure out why the park in the original Dead Rising always took 12-17 seconds to load while some other small mall areas took way longer.

I had no idea that this was coming out so this is a pleasant surprise. I guess this gives a whole lot of weight toward getting the xbox version.

I'm not angry. Just annoyed at the people who keep insisting this is a paid demo. It's just frustrating.

But it is a paid demo
. You can dress it up and make it a "new area," all you want, but it is running on the DR2 engine (IIRC) and is coming out a few weeks before DR2 full comes out. Unless Capcom releases a demo for DR2 itself, this is technically a paid demo just dressed up to not look like one.

Less Polygon/dividers for stores to render in the outdoors, I wager.

So you're actually saying that if a DR2 demo were released, then Case Zero would no longer be a "paid demo" by your definition? Wow.

I don't get the whole "paid demo" rage. This isn't a demo at all. It's more like a standalone DLC episode.

Why? It seems very obvious to me that they took out the prologue from the game and 'turned' it into a XBLA game. The first game had an awesome demo that made a lot of people buy the game..

If somehow you have information that that's not the case I'll gladly hear it, but it just makes sense.

I'd like to believe it was planned as pre-release promotional DLC from the beginning, if only because chopping off the beginning of the game and making it console exclusive would be absolutely fucking evil.

400 Microsoft Points? So bought.

Are there even any games coming out for 400 Microsoft points anymore? The last one I know of or that I bought was Chime.

On one fact, it is a paid demo, but calling it that over and over is disingenuous. Inafune mentioned in an earlier interview that Capcom games demo like shit and they're always agonizing over whether they gave too much away or too little. So they decided that small prequel games running on the same engine, with the same basic concepts, but new stuff and bonus story, would be a good compromise. So thus Dead Rising 2 Case 0.

To the people bitching about it being the prologue merely cut, it wouldn't exist if they weren't going to release it as this cheap XBLA title.

To those who just want to keep saying paid demo over and over, fine. Once it comes out I'm sure you'll find something else to hate.

One can always hope that stuff like that stop happening.

It's a shame I won't be able to play this. It sounds great (and cheap).

I think it's going to happen more and more with most 3rd party exclusive goes multi-plat this generation. There are several upcoming games that have contents exclusively for PS3version. (I think there are actually more for PS3 this coming fall than 360).

I remember they were saying this one done for 360 fans that make the first game popular or something like that.

Considering that they are selling this game on Steam and its GFWL compatible with Achievements, I don't see why Case Zero isn't going on PC also?!?
