The Story: A mysterious outbreak of flesh eating zombie virus occurs in the once tranquil setting of Willamette, Colorado. Our hero, Frank West, looking for the scoop of a lifetime embarks on a harrowing journey to Willamette Parkview Mall completely unaware of the real situation at hand. After a series of unfortunate events Frank West discovers that the US Government was behind the incident in a failed attempt to genetically enhance and speed up meat production. His efforts, along with the assistance of Isabella Keyes, Brad Garrison and Jessica McCarney are critical in exposing the Government cover up and rescuing the lives of many who found themselves trapped in the Parkview Mall devastation which involved a revenge scheme based on the plans of Carlito Keyes who sought to avenge Santa Cabeza where the testing was done.

Carlito managed to still have his way despite the efforts of Frank and Co and the US Government when a number of the twelve children implanted with Ampulex Compressa Giganteus Queens, the species directly responsible for the virus, went Zombie and caused outbreaks.

Two years later in Las Vegas another outbreak occured devastating and destroying the long time bastion of sinful decadence. The military set up a fifty mile perimiter to contain the outbreak which included Still Creek. The place that one Chuck Greene was fleeing to with his newly infected daughter Katey. Chuck managed to overcome the loss of his vehicle and handle the zombie outbreak as it reached and wrecked the sleepy town. After evading the military and escaping he pledged to Katey that he would always be there for her.

Three years later and in the current day Las Vegas is gone. In its place stands the glorious Fortune City. A true rival for Las Vegas, Fortune City is full of gambling, food and entertainment delights to please the masses. Here some new reality television shows are taped such as TiR, or Terror is Reality which involves controlled zombie mutilation for sport. Chuck Greene, with his growing need for funds for zombrex, a drug that halts but does not cure zombification, is a contestant on this year's show when something goes terribly wrong.

Chuck Greene, a former Motocross Champion has unwittingly found himself wrapped up in a mystery that has just cost the lives of tens of thousands of people. With a young daughter who has become infected to care for, Chuck will do anything and everything possible to keep her from turning. Chuck is skilled with motorcycles and quick thinking. He can pretty much fix anything with some duct tape. Will Chuck be able to solve the mystery of the Fortune City outbreak in time and keep his daughter safe in the meanwhile?

Katey Greene, bitten by her own mother years ago lives with the daily hassles of having to take Zombrex for the rest of her life. Despite this cruel fate she is still a bright and spunky child who believes in her father and depends on him. Katey needs her zombrex every twenty four hours or she'll take a turn for the worse.

Stacey Forsythe, the current head of CURE, is strongly opposed to the objectification and ostrification of zombies and those who may become zombies. She was in Fortune City protesting this year's TiR when the outbreak occured. Making it to safety she keeps watch over Katey from the safe house and will provide assistence via two way radio. Stacey is a strong proponent for an actual cure for zombification, not just a temporary antidote.

Rebecca Chang, a confident and inquisitive reporter makes her way to Fortune City for the scoop of a lifetime! Her media of choice is video recording and she is in fact the one who implicates Chuck as being the saboteur responsible for the Fortune City outbreak! She hasn't covered any wars... but who knows what she has working to her advantage.

Tyrone King, the host and producer of TiR is controversial and well known in the media. Formerly a musical talent who broke into the hip hop scene Tyrone has now managed to corner the zombie exploitation wave currently washing over the US.

Frank West, has been out of the lime light for quite a while now. No one knows what he is up to but it is assured that where there's a big scoop, one may find him. What has become of his infection? What has become of his former cohort Isabella? Only time will answer these questions.

Dead Rising 2 is produced by Keiji Inafune of Capcom fame. It has been outsourced to Blue Castle Games and was jointly developed with much oversight by Mr. Inafune and Blue Castle Games to meet a level of quality acceptable to it's predecessor. With much spoken about ambitions for the game and series, Mr. Inafune has expanded upon the world and lore and changed and updated gameplay mechanics to hopefully produce a solid gem for this generation of gaming.

This time around the photography system which rewarded PP, a method of leveling up your character, has been replaced with a weapon and item creation system. Weapons and Items that are created can provide extra PP much like taking photos at critical moments would in the games' predecessor. Combo cards unlock new weapon combinations and can be found by looking at posters and leveling up while playing the game in Fortune City.

Fortune City is a massive new area to explore with a large number of stores and casinos of varying themes that dwarfs the previous location of the Parkview Mall. Many different interactive objects are located throughout Fortune City with a few surprises thrown in such as a Zoo and a Strip Club along with the staples one would normally find in a gambling resort.

Dead Rising 2 contains for the first time multiplayer action with a co-op mode for single player and a four player mode for competitive multiplayer based on the TiR concept. Here players can square off against each other in a American Gladiators meets Takeshi's Castle arena with zombies. Single player co-op has the benefit of allowing bother players to recieve, money, items and PP.

Dead Rising 2 will have it's timed mode back once again, with the urgency for investigating scoops, administering Zombrex and surviving for seventy two hours as its focus once again. In addition to the timed mode the save system has been changed allowing for three slots to save with instead of the single slot the previous game held.

Dead Rising 2 is due out 9/24/2010 in EU, 9/28/2010 in US and 9/30/2010 in JPN for PS3 and XBOX360 and PC!

God I hope it's good. Killing zombies in the originals even with it's glaring flaws was so much fun. I really like the look of Chuck.

Before Case Zero, I was veeerrry wary of DR2.

Now, I need this game in my life.

I was never wary but I do need DR2 in my life.

Also, I do not recall Frank West being infected. (like OP states)

Wow, really can't wait for this, holy shit.

Here's the english manual for the game. Has some great info in it and a map, etc. It's available via Steam but I've been unable to actually load it so I figured I'd just post a link on here in case others were having trouble.

FUCK YES!@

I played the original game, I just don't remember him being infected.

I even got the secret endings and what not or wait, didn't the girl have a cure for it?

This is how Dead Rising should be played. But you can play it from the beginning, right?

Is that a mobile or desktop GT 220? GDDR3 RAM? If its a desktop part it should perform better than the 360 version judging by every other multiplatform release out there. It'll definitely run, regardless.

If you got yourself a ~$100 GPU you'd have a fantastic little gaming rig there that'd play any game on the market at good settings/performance.

Do I need a special client to run it then?

I haven't happened across a GFWL game on my new PC yet.

Amazon release day delivery for me.

Can't wait to co-op this game.

Funny seeing frank in the OP after the outrage over the "spoilers" in that other thread.
Well of course. People who usually want to avoid any kind of spoiler, big or small, avoid the OT and Hype threads.
Naturally, Frank is here.

The client will come with the game and will need to be installed but its fully integrated into the game itself, you don't have to launch a separate third party app. Just press home on your keyboard or your 360 controller's guide button to bring up the Live interface as you would do on the 360.

Make sure you create an online profile. If you already have used Xbox Live you can use that account and your achievements will append to it.

PC gamers will want to use either a 360 controller, a PS3 controller with MotionJoy drivers (w/ integrated 360 controller emulator) or a third party controller in combination with the 360 controller emulator.

Ah ok.

Didn't want to have anything holding me up from playing when it comes out :lol

Desktop GT 220. My PC is fairly new (bought it last April) so I've been playing several games on it.

But thanks! Now I really can't wait for the game. I only have the Wii version of Dead Rising at home
which was a guilty pleasure to me ^_^'
and I still miss the 360 version a friend of mine had.

What are the bonuses for carrying over a Case Zero save to DR2? I'd like to pick this up on PC, but I already have Case Zero (haven't played it much). Will I be missing out on anything significant?

Well you can install ithe client now in preparation if you like, but it won't make a difference regardless.

Should be fine then and if you don't have access to a PS3 or 360 its a no brainer, heck I think you'll probably be better off with the PC version even if you did, and its $20 cheaper anyway which is nice. Be sure to get a 360 controller though! :D

---------------------------------------------

Another point to add to the op: 360 controller support (plug and play with icons) is confirmed in the game's PC manual. there's a kb&mouse config as well but for a game like this I think most will want to use a controller and some in the other thread were asking about support.

Maybe worth pointing a link to the Motion Joy drivers as well as they will allow you to use a PS3 controller (either over USB or bluetooth) as a "plug and play" device if you use the builtin Xinput/360 controller emulation. Handy for those that want to save $20 but don't have a 360 controller around.

Most likely just the progress you made in CZ in terms of PP. Nothing major and shouldn't detract you from getting the game for PC.

Only your level and your PP (not 100% on PP though but I am on level)

Okay, thanks. Capcom's PC releases this gen have been pretty solid, so I'm expecting good things from DR2.

Yeah, maybe a 360 controller wouldn't be a bad idea for this game.

Does anyone have some info on that? I'm just as casual PC player
excluding my love for L4D 1 and 2
and after Dead Rising 2 I'll only buy Dead Space 2 for my PC.

I still can't decide if the character models in DR 1 or DR 2 during cutscenes are better.
I'm leaning towards the original. I was always impressed by them.

Plug it in and play the game as you would on a console. It'll autoconfigure and even display the correct icons for you, couldn't be simpler. Most PC games do this nowadays and its a great feature and considering the original Dead Space had the same support its pretty much guaranteed that the sequal will as well.

Now get on Steam and stock up on those sales, we'll make a PC gamer out of you, yet! :lol

OH YEAH OH YEAH OT IS UP

This game is going to be goddamn amazing I promise you all. Let's just hope the framerate is truly improved in the final builds when installed. I'm not afraid about the story/mechanics anymore, it's going to be GREAT.

CO OP will be weird with this but I want give it a try :D . Maybe it's easier to micro manage under the time constraint with two players? Maybe it will be possible to go separate ways and to work on separate missions since it's online co op only? I guess it's a game you only play with close friends especially if it's like Dead Rising 1 and that you could screw up easily. I'll try to convince a friend to pick it up :lol .

Any word on a PC demo? I'd like to see how it will run, probably very well but I'd like to make sure. Plus, I'd like to make sure it isn't a shitty port job.

Not gonna do coop on my main save :). I'll start a different save if anyone wants to play coop with me I think. I want to do a single player playthrough first.

I never though to check before but it looks like the DR2 shots on Steam are direct framebuffer grabs of the PC version.

Pretty much confirms native MSAA and AF support is in and it looks really rather fantastic.

Its looking like this will be yet another top quality PC port from Capcom. :D

Notice the "e" icon and how the image quality is really good but not perfect (which would mean its a supersampled bullshot) which all but confirms this is a real ingame shot from the PC version
