So psyched for this, I really think the first one is my favourite 360 game, and definitely the first game that I ever thought felt 'next gen'. And the little Case Zero got me pumped once again.

10 more days for Aussies, soooo pumped

EDIT: Wait wait wait... co-op is only online? Not a deal breaker by any means, but fuck that. I have real life friends I want to play with. Real life friends who don't have 360s like me. And even if they did, I enjoy being face to face with them while playing.

Damn it, I thought this was going to be a great total-other-end-of-the-scale replacement for the Lego games at my house. I guess not. :(

Still pumped though.

I was very dismissive of Case Zero and the announcement of an outside team doing the proper sequel. But after giving Case Zero a shot I'm on board for this one.

I never though to check before but it looks like the DR2 shots on Steam are direct framebuffer grabs of the PC version.

Pretty much confirms native MSAA and AF support is in and it looks really rather fantastic.

Its looking like this will be yet another top quality PC port from Capcom. :D

Notice the "e" icon and how the image quality is really good but not perfect (which would mean its a supersampled bullshot) which all but confirms this is a real ingame shot from the PC version

I am still amazed they did not send out PC screens for the PC blogs/Magazines to post. Those screens on Steam are the absolute first I have seen of the PC version.

Exactly the same thing happened with me. I was a Blue Castle doubter, but Case Zero made me a believer.

Its not as if they have something to hide, those shots on Steam look great.

Should probably add those stupid preorder dlc/bonuses... sigh.

http://www.capcom-unity.com/jgonzo/blog/2010/07/30/your_guide_to_dead_rising_2_pre-order_bonuses

As you've probably already noticed, we got some pretty nifty pre-order exclusives for Dead Rising 2 planned with our retail partners! Best Buy

Best Buy is offering the Sports Fans Skills Pack (more details to be announced soon) for both the 360 and PS3 version of DR2. What we know so far:

Pre-order Dead Rising 2 for Xbox 360 or PS3, and you'll be able to unlock this sporty outfit, which not only shows off Chuck’s team spirit, but also grants him new abilities:

Increased Power for All Sports Weapons

Unique Attack

Grab a football and plow down the undead competition with a powerful running stiff-arm.

Better Health Recovery

Who can go into the big game without half-time snacks? With the Sports Fan theme pack, Chuck earns additional health whenever he consumes food or drink. (Plus, he won't get sick when knocking back one too many brewskies.)

Increased Gambling Winnings

Your luck goes further than the field. Sports Fan Chuck will gain additional money whenever he wins in the casinos.

Despite my initial fears (new dev team, delays) Case Zero turned out great. I'm ready with my pre-order and can't wait until the 28th for some zombie killing mayhem.

do a control + f and you'll find it quick.

Its worth adding to the op once you have the time as otherwise the question will pop up even more I'd imagine.

That + the PC required specs.

The lack of a space between the 2 and |OT| bothers me :(

Will probably pick this up on Steam at some point depending on how reviews shake out. Looks good so far, though.

So excited for this!

Really fantastic OP! I would have had the title say: 'Dead Rising 2 [OT] - Frank’s Covered Wars, But Chuck’s Covered Everything...In Tape!' But still, you did a good job! :D

Anyway, this is gonna be so awesome! Only ten more days for me until the most fun game of this year...and my potential GOTY is here!
This will be better than the original!

good work Kibbles. i approve this thread.

my PC version is already bought and paid for.

those PC shots are clearly real. the only thing i'd point out in them that is a slight down side (but that pretty clearly confirms them as real) is that some HUD elements are clearly only designed with 720p in mind.

sure, she's no Tits, but who has matched up to Tits in the years since dead rising came out?

Lol....true, but don't worry, Rebecca's ass more than makes up for her slightly less cleavage. :D

The Presentation really shows they put alot of effort into this game. I hope it sells well. Day one for me.

I think it’s gonna do a lot better than a lot of people think. This game is gonna surprise in many different ways!

Well even parity with the 360 version may not be enough for some as Case Zero ran incredibly poorly on the 360.

Ran fine for me.
PS3 footage I've seen makes me comfortable with my preorder. :D

I really think they could have done more to push the PC version. A nice demo or Case Zero being available on Steam might have got more people tot take a look especially given its $40 release price. It just seems like a wasted opportunity, its as if they want to pretend the PC version doesn't exist, they've literally done nothing at all to promote it.

Would sending those pictures up on Steam over to RPS and PC Gamer really have been that difficult? Simple stuff like that can make a big difference given how tight nit the community on Steam is, if you've got a decent product once you get that ball rolling it pretty much sells itself as people see it on the top sellers list, they see their friends playing it and interest can snowball.

Its making Case Zero exclusive to the 360 that really irks me though. Honestly, Capcom don't need to sell Dead Rising to 360 fans, they already know what they're in for but on the PS3 and PC its a complete unknown entity and $5 is much lower risk than $40/$60. I'm positive that thing would have sold tremendously on Steam and it would have created a buzz about Dead Rising on a platform where its a complete unknown entity. Just such a missed opportunity.

If prolonged periods in the 20fps range is fine for you, then sure, it won't be an issue but not everyone (including me) like to tolerate such low framerates so its worth pointing out. It probably had the dodgiest framerate of any 360 game I've played in a long time, no tearing though which is welcome although there wasn't any msaa so it was quite an aliased presentation. I really hope the PC version has a 30fps cap, I really don't need 6fps for a game like this so I'd rather crank the IQ and get a rock solid framerate to boot. A lot of Capcom's games have had one (including titles that weren't developed inhouse) so there's a good chance.

so as far as we know cross-platform play is NOT in, right?

that is the only thing keeping me from buying the PC version day 1. i have too many friends i want to play co-op with on the 360.

will quite possibly double dip down the road though.

cannot wait to play this game.

Do you guys think it will be necessary to play though DR1's story before playing DR2? I only have a Wii and a PS3, so I never got to play more than a few minutes or DR1 and don't know there's anything that will carry on from the story or any references I should be aware of.

I did pick up the Wii version cheap, but I couldn't play it for more than a few minutes since the port is so poor. I can't decide if I should suffer though it just to see the story, or if I should do it the lazy way and just read up on it at Wikipedia or the recap in the OP

Also, I do not recall Frank West being infected. (like OP states)

Ending A.

Frank gets on the Helicopter, but the pilot has been infected. Frank gets bitten. Overtime mode unlocked.

Overtime goes into this a little.

Really, if Frank is "cured," I'm calling the ending of DR2 now:
Katy is saved/cured of the infection with an experimental treatment of Isabella's
.

That said, I really hope we can kill the kid and play the game without having to worry about it. The 12 hour dosage limit is going to drive me insane for the father achievements, but if I can play the main story/side missions without having to bother with her, I'd be glad to go that route. Sorry, kiddo, but your dad finds you to be a burden. :|

a bunch of us here are going pc. we'd be happy to play with you.

also theseks, i think katey only needs zombrex once a day in dr2. i guess they improved it in the three years since case zero.

It's taken every 24 hours. I'm sure there's going to be more than one mode in the game so you won't always need to deal with Katey.

thanks for the offer, i appreciate it. i have several friends online and real life that im already planning on playing with though. thats my issue.

the cheaper price and better IQ/perfomance (in theory) is make the pc version very tempting though. but like i said, ill probably double dip on the PC version down the road. it will only be getting cheaper.

Can you wait till the game gets properly looked at before you continue with this? Please? I did you your favor and put your PC specs in the op. Now cool it.

You're talking about Case Zero which wasn't even the full game. When DR2 properly gets looked at go ahead and go nuts, but don't start this shit now.

Its worth pointing out, Case Zero wasn't released on the PS3 so PS3 owners might not be aware of how much the engine struggles to run on the 360. For someone that's wary about the quality of the PS3 port, that's valuable information. Its incredibly unlikely that there'll be any significant difference between the performance in Case Zero and the full game, there's no precedent for it and things just don't work like that.

Making an official thread of useful, informative and helpful information is much better than making it circle jerk. Its not about platform wars its about being honest, I was hardly the only one to comment on the framerate in Case Zero, and yes, it was that damn bad. Adding the PC specs to the op isn't a "favour to me" its the sort of thing that an official thread should always have as its essential information for anyone considering the PC SKU.

How come I still haven't seen this yet? Thanks! :eek:t of faith in Blue Castle and Capcom. Loved Dead Rising 2: Case Zero. I doubt Dead Rising 2 will disappoint.

It's IJIEK, "Keiji" backwards. Keiji Inafune is the producer for the Dead Rising games.

I think another key is, what will the PC version use for matchmaking?

GFWL, so multiplayer will be basically the same as the 360 version, achievements and all, though it won't have as large a population, obviously. Sucks that there's no mention of cross platform play, a feature like that is perfect for co-op game as everyone benefits.

Oh, and yeah, the fact this is a GFWL title on PC should probably be added to the OP, its pretty important information for anyone considering that version.
