Dead Rising 3 created "to go after the Call of Duty player"

shooter has always been a popular genre even on consoles, Im not talking about first or third person. Look at what halo did in 2001. Going for a shooter instead of a survival, was appealing to a wider audience, no doubt about it.
im not trying to spin anything, I despise today's capcom, but game looks fun to me. Series was becoming stale with 2 and having an open city is a better thing to me.
We're not talking of dmc with his dumbed down gameplay, we're talking about a series where you kill things. I can understand beeing upset by the change of tone, but this to me is still dead rising.

RE4 was never made to be a Halo replacement. And it won't be true, no matter how many times you try to say it. That is the core complaint in this thread, NOT simply the change in direction.

Context frames the game's development. It certainly sets off alarms when you hear that the driving force behind a dramatic change in a game is to chase after Call of Duty fans. Whether or not you like it, or thought the game's formula was getting stale is irrelevant.

Oh dear. we'll always have Dead Rising 1, I guess.

This is pretty damn frustrating though, gone are the days of cutting a zombie in half whilst wearing a mega-man suit or using a wheelchair as a mobile gun turret or rising a tricycle through a horde of zombies.

Gone, but never forgotten.

Seriously, what's the point of this series anymore? There's a billion realistic zombie games out there and quite a few with weapon crafting and driving in open world areas.

well, neither this game is ment to be a cod replacement. I like to try things first and then decide by myself. I remember a lot of fans that whined about Re4, because it wasnt resident evil. If the game is still good, I dont really care.
when the game comes out and ends up beeing cod wannabe, well... they can go fuck themselves, like I said in my previous post.

I already didn't like dead rising, but the trailer made it look like the same crappy combat but with call of duty tone/air strikes.

NO THANKS!

Yes, finally, this is just what I have been asking for.

Between this and the F2P Killer Instinct, I have all I will ever need for Next-Gen.

Thank you.

Well shit.

I loved DR 1 & 2 and could tell by the footage that the humour had been reduced/disappeared and that the atmosphere was way more serious.

I'm still interested, only less so. What I saw did not blow me away, but still looked fun.

Welp, I guess that saved me from even looking at the Xbox. Dead Rising 3 was the only good looking exclusive I saw on the Xbox, and if its going to change to pursue the Call of Duty player then I want nothing to do with it.

Now I know why that airstrike when it was being played happened.

DR 1 and 2 were great games. Sadly they were hindered by annoying design choices, like endless escort missions.

Its disappointing to hear they are losing what originality the series did have in order to chase a crowd.

I like that they are removing the timed element. I hated that about the first game and immediately put me off from the series.

So Killer Instinct is F2P, Crimson Dragon is reportedly shoddy, and now Dead Rising is chasing after an audience that doesn't even know it exists.

Walp, thanks for helping me figure out which console to pick, Capcom.

This is hilarious. How many times have we heard this same line from so many developers? How many fails?

All these years later after hearing this from so many developers I've finally seen the game that will get the call of duty player. It's called Titanfall and it's made by the guys who made Call of Duty.

Yes, exactly. I feel the need to point out how much I agree with this.

It's very rare that I read a post and start frantically pointing at my monitor while exclaiming out loud "Yes, this, exactly!".

I felt overall the whole Microsoft conference was catered to COD fanboys... Heck, even the plants vs zombies game had to sneak in a reference to COD... So it's no surprise.

In contrast, the PS4 conference was all about relatively quirky and unique games that had new ideas, not just brown environments, first or third person shooting , cover based aiming and slightly better graphics.

Everytime FPS tries to go after CoD, or an MMO tries to go after WoW, or a MOBA tries to go after LoL they go down like the Titanic.

Just fucking make your own game and make it well. If I wanted CoD, WoW, or LoL then I can just go play any of those three games. So make your own game and make me want that. Games that are good provide something unique or genuine. When you start incorporating stuff from other successful games for the sake of having it your game feels like disjointed mess.

I like that they are removing the time element myself, if they are going to create something as fun as a shopping centre or las Vegas style area filled with zombies at least allow me explore it at my own leisure, typical the game that doesn't have the time limit is the only one I don't want to explore =/

The game looked like someone stuck a syringe in it and sucked out almost all the color. That was the appeal of Dead Rising, it was Capcoms Shaun of the Dead rather than Dawn of the Dead.

The gameplay they showed was all brown and grey, had it been in first person it would resemble Black Ops and Black Ops 2 zombie mode rather than anything close to Dead Rising.

There were only 4 Xbox One games I was interested in.

This news doesn't feel me with hope on Dead Rising 3
Ryse looks bad
Crimson Dragon is meant to be poor

All that leaves is D4

Seeing the game was exciting.

Hearing this is annoying and makes me ok with not being able to play it at launch.

The DR3 presentation was so grimdark it made Warhammer 40k look nice and cheery.

Didn't Gerstmann say there was humor not made present in the trailer? They still have time to turn it around like SSX did after their dark and gritty reveal.

Gone, but never forgotten.

Love me some old Dead Rising. Those gifs are awesome and depressing, depressing because we'll never see that humor again.
