Dead Rising |OT| Chop Till You Drop Remastered

Though Dead Rising may seem like a simple, mindless game when you first pick it up, it eventually reveals itself as a deeper experience. Tons of extras are packed into Willamette's shops, there are magazine power-ups and special drink mixes to be brewed, lots of clothing combinations, countless pictures to be taken and plenty of NPCs to be saved. The game provides an incentive for every aspect, making each worth pursuing. It's a game that somehow remains cohesive despite having so many seemingly unrelated elements. The save system means you're going to be playing through the 72 Hour and Overtime modes multiple times, but at least along the way you'll level up, get the best ending, nab more achievements, and get better scores. ...After several times through it's impossible to deny the appeal inherent in slaughtering Willamette's zombified shoppers.

My copy is arriving tomorrow. Was going to get it on PC but my PS4 feels useless because I have literally played nothing since Dark Souls 3.

So it's a HD remaster of the Wii version? Sweet the game we've all been waiting on :p.

Can't wait to replay this great game again. One of Capcoms last greats before entering their down slope. Thankfully they are on the up again somewhat (SFV excluded) but they will never reach the highs of the 90's through to mid 00's again.

Man time flies. I remember waking up early to download the demo on 360.
Can't wait to play it again.

I remember getting the demo on a xbox magazine demo. I specifically went out of my way to get but I don't remember why I didn't just download it.

I'm a little bummed there wasn't a UI refresh. All that looks...wel, at least a decade old. Still excited, though.

Does it run at 30fps?

Been playing the PS4 version and its really good so far

I have the 360 version obviously but this game is just so much fun and deserves 1080p60fps

:D

Obviously talking about the superior DR1

The PC version runs at arbitrary framerates (144+), not sure about the consoles but I would be surprised if it wasn't 60.

For some reason I thought this was coming out next week.

Initial reports indicate a good PC port; downloading now.

And it looks like the Mai DLC for DOA5 came out today too. Great day.

Only ever tried out DR2 and struggled to get into it (quite enjoyed the multiplayer though), always loved the idea of these games and wouldn't mind giving them another shot, is DR1 the one to go for?

DR1 is generally the most well-regarded of the series but keep in mind, DR2 made some stuff a lot easier to do. DR1 is a bit more unforgiving.

Heh, my exact thought when I saw the DR footage some time ago. It doesn't look very hot.

I suppose it doesn't have to either, though. Planning on buying the game soon.

Seriously underrated. Nowhere near the OG, but impressive for the hardware and great fun regardless.

It's funny how the Wii version is literally Dead Rising in the Resident Evil 4 engine.

It even actually does some things better than the original. The convicts were so shitty that even a QTE sequence was a major improvement, and it made Frank into a badass in that sequence. And the Wiimote pointer being better for aiming goes without saying.

PC version runs at any frame rate or resolution and supports MSAA. Been playing it since it unlocked pretty much. I love this game so much.

Played 20mnow before going to work and graphically Dead Rising holds up very well, looks fantastic at 4K with 8x MSAA :)

It's one of the most interesting games because of that fact.

The other one that comes to mind is the Geneiss Sonic the Hedgehog ported to the Sonic Advance engine on GBA.

Though at least that was the same series.

I'm curious which one people prefer - DR2 or DR2: OTR?

I've played both for maybe 5 hours each and liked OTR more. I'm not sure why I never finished either. How big of an upgrade are these over the PS3 versions?

Jesus, I double taked with that thread title. Chop Till You Drop is an interesting little piece of Capcom history.
The logic behind it is even more interesting

"Wow Resident Evil 4 Wii is selling super well"

"Should we try and make a downgraded version of RE5?"

"Nah just completely gut that Xbox launch title LOL"

Case Zero is part of Dead Rising 2 though

That's what he means. Case Zero and Case West will have no port to non-360 stuff.

Frank is the series, as far as I'm concerned so OTR for me.

what? I thought those were just repackaged into DR2

AFAIK, Capcom hasn't stated that and people are like "where the hell are Case Zero/West!?" This is the same company that said people that pre-ordered Biohazard 1 and later 0 seperately would get a majority of 0's DLC outfits and then 180'd and said "lol nope, should've waited" so I wouldn't put them screwing fans past them.

Another key example: Ace Attorney series

So uh, I'm at a point where I've finished Case 1 and it's nighttime and I'm trying to escort the
Japanese
pair back to the security office, but every idea of mine leads to certain death for both them and me - Amplified by DR1's amazing Industry-Trailing NPC AI. Especially since there's a Psycho boss outside.

Should I find some way to wait out the night or is it time to reset my campaign like people have said will be happening a lot?

Whatever you do, do not reset the campaign. The game's not designed for you to do everything the first time through. If you can't save the couple then go ahead and do something else.

I will get this at some point. I remember having a lot of fun with the OG release. This game has my favorite use of achievements.

It's not even the pair I'm worried about, even I can't get out of this place I'm holed up in without getting fucked up.
