Dead Rising |OT| Chop Till You Drop Remastered

Played a bit of Dead Rising 1, 2 and Off the Record on XB1. DR1 runs beautifully, DR2 is weird, it keeps shuttering every few minutes, it get a bit annoying... hopefully it will get updated to fix it. Off the Record seems to run great.

All of titles especially DR1 held up very well.

Edit: Regarding DR2 shuttering, it happens even in a simple room. It must be a bug.

Game is still great. Played for like an hour and a half without saving when my game crashed because of my stupid (apparently) unstable overclock QQ Gotta fight Carlito and everything all over again FML. Never again.

It's not even the pair I'm worried about, even I can't get out of this place I'm holed up in without getting fucked up.

If you are really *that* stuck, there's no harm in taking the L and starting over. You'll retain your character level and be that much stronger going forward.

What's performance like in Xbox One?

I want to get it on that to complete the Dead Rising collection, however if it runs better on PS4 I'll get it on that.

Thanks for the feedback.

not really PC savy i'll buy about anything tohugh and love the dead Rising games 2, OTR and 3 run fine on mine but i'm having freezing issues with the game and very intense slowdown at certain parts or when there's a bunch going on on screen at once. Happens like every 15 seconds when it does do it which is almost always but can mess with the settings a bit doesn't matter with what and it fixes it for those few seconds. A shame I really wanted to play more of it. :(

THIS!
IS!
MY!
STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRREEEEEEEEE!!!

God, I love Dead Rising. Really glad I can finally replay the first one on PC.
Still sad that both Case Zero and Case West were not ported as well.
Also a bit sad that they didn't really update the overall control scheme for DR1. I mean, you can rebind the buttons (which actually is a big plus), but still, I would've liked an updated scheme like the one DR2 OTR had. Which is simply way better than DR1's.

So uh, I'm at a point where I've finished Case 1 and it's nighttime and I'm trying to escort the
Japanese
pair back to the security office, but every idea of mine leads to certain death for both them and me - Amplified by DR1's amazing Industry-Trailing NPC AI. Especially since there's a Psycho boss outside.

Should I find some way to wait out the night or is it time to reset my campaign like people have said will be happening a lot?
Resetting at every single misstep is the worst conceivable way to play the good Dead Rising games. Just keep truckin' unless you're really shit out of luck, gain experience, learn the map and restart once you reach an ending. The campaign is short and designed to be replayable.

That said, it's entirely possible to escort the aforementioned duo safely.

As someone who has never played a DR game before, which one of these remasters should I pick up?
1 is an all-time classic if you don't shy away from (somewhat) unforgiving difficulty. 2 is still pretty good too in that (unlike 3) it's still fairly faithful to the original formula, but made some unfortunate missteps with gameplay addition and pacing.

PC port is good?
From the looks of it, yes. QLOC seemingly delivered.

Game doesn't even start for me on PC. I get an error related to Direct X. A number of people are having the same issue, and a solution hasn't been found yet.

I had problems getting it to launch. But running the three .exes found in Dead Rising's redestributable folder + a reboot fixed that. Plays like a dream.

Haven't checked any config files yet but I'd like if we could disable/mod out the DOF(?) effect during cutscenes.

You can try this if you haven't already. Reinstall dxsetup and repair both of the vcredists. Worked for me after verifying cache/reinstalling the game didn't.

Have they sorted out the text issues? If I remember correctly, the text was hilariously small and really difficult to read on the original.

The text is still quite small but at least it seems to be a bit bigger than it was on 360.
Roughly the same size as DR2, I think.

it was only hard to read if you didn't have an HDTV. which was common in 2006

It was also hard to read if you had an HDTV and sat a healthy distance away from it.

Soo are the retail versions not available at Best Buy or something? It's available at other retailers so it can't be an Amazon exclusive.

It's Frank. Frank West. Remember that name 'cause the whole world's gonna know it in three days when I get the scoop.

Has it been 10 years? Wow, had so much fun playing this game.

Got stuck at the first level boss (clown?) - frustrated the hell out of me...but man I loved the game up to that point so be rude not to give it another try!

Just passed him, went through 3 slots worth of pistols bringing his health down to a thin line, then by chance found a knife on the floor to administer the killing blow.

They're very easy to cheese - just circle around trees, they stop in one place when they crash, then just shoot each convict up one by one (starting with the machine gunner).

You mean the convicts?
Lure them into a tree then shoot them. They're really, really stupid and will drive into the tree repeadetly, especially if they try to drive you over in reverse.
Shoot the gunner first. The rest will be easy.
They'll reappear once each day though, iirc.
