Good on the devs, showed where they are up to in development, early days and looking promising. A bit of transparency with the fans is a positive.

That was a whole lot of nothing
Yeah if it's not ready to show, just don't show.

EA keep doing this in recent years, showing off projects that are years off simply because they have fuck all otherwise. Just let this one cook and stop hyping it up 3 years in advance lol.

- Analysis of dismemberment mechanics
- Comparison of visuals between Dead Space 1 final release and Dead Space Remake pre-alpha
- Analysis of Necromorph skin and tissue corrosion engine
- Showcase of Dead Space 2 zero gravity implemented on Dead Space 1 Remake
- Showcase of Dead Space Remake assets and comparison with those of the original
- Confirmation of Gunner Wright returning as Isaac Clarke and analysis of the team's thought process on whether they should honor the original's legacy and have him a silent protagonist or make him fully voiced - in the end, a compromise was made and Isaac talks only when spoken to

Yeah, WHOLE lot of nothing.

In the end, the majority of the stream was very satisfied with what the team showed, appreciated the transparency of EA Motive and many fears have been dissuaded.

having worked on all 3 plus the DLC i was impressed. we built a game with what we had at the time. I'm so happy to see the many fans expressing how much they like the series. i will most def let the group know on our dead space employee page.

I don't understand why this game needs to be remade. Its animations and sound design are fine and refreshing. It almost looks the same. It's a shame EA had no faith in Viserals own game and to then do this.

Did we watch the same stream? It looks ten times better and we're in pre-alpha.

It was the most honest and open inside look i have seen..

very weird normally this shit is hidden behind 5000 layers of PR WANK.
Yeah absolutely, this was really refreshing.

I would love to see something like that for every hyped game.

Awesome stream. Given EA tons and tons of shit in recent years (before this was announced) but I'm here applauding the fuck out of them right now.

Very well done stream and the game looks fire just from this early footage.

Do 2 and 3 after this pretty please!!

For one, there are vast improvements when you compare the images of the old and new side by side. And two, there is no way to play them on PS4/PS5 without using PS Now, not available globally. Thirdly, EA saw how well Mass Effect was received and want some extra dough. :p

Judging by this thread, I was right not to watch the nearly hour-long stream with "content creators" for the sake of one, maybe two juicy screenshots.

Hey man if that tickles yer fancy then by all means!

I've just been burnt too many times by EA's pre-release nonsense. Let's hope this will be the exception to the rule.

That was the perfect opposite of EA pre-release nonsense we've been getting longer than I can remember.

All in all they appear to have a great deal of respect for the original game. That alone was enough to keep me a bit less worried about the remake. And having Gunner back is amazing.

Cautiously hyped about that one.

There are some def improvements across most fronts except animations if anything it tells me just how early in dev the game is.

Having recently played Dead Space 3 on PC on 60 fps, I can safely dispute your statement. Necromorph movement looks more fluid in the Remake.

That said, Isaac's animations look almost identical.

First Demon's Souls and now Dead Space. Two of my favorite games getting next gen treatment. Holy shit, what a time to be alive! EA better not fuck this up.

People who claimed the original was perfect and visually still holds out perfectly well to this day either have no imagination or simply refuse to take off their nostalgia goggles.

From the moment technology evolves and improves itself, there's no way that visually what was acceptable in 2008 will be just as good today. And the same can be said twenty years from now.

Ray-tracing, improved character models and 3d assets, graphical fidelity, animation, VFX, lighting, 3D audio, aiming controls ... all those are things which can make this game even more realistic and scary to both old players and the new.

That's not to say that the Remake will definitely be better in EVERY aspect. Dead Space was the first experience in that campaign setting and the 'first time' feeling is impossible to replicate - let alone surpass -, especially if the developers plan to mimic the game's pacing, progression and scares to a tee. New voice actors may not be up to the task, the cutscenes may lack the original's flair and imagination, dialogues may seem off, the game may be easier or game sections may be cut due to time constraints.

But in terms of visuals, so far the remake blows the original out of the water, IMO.

We could be looking at a glorious return for one of the best IPs of the PS3/X360 generation.
