"Deapool, the movies, have set sail." Creator Rob Liefeld "there is no movement" on Deapool 3

EDIT: fuckin misspelled Deadpool twice in the title. Facepalm

Rob Liefeld has clarified his statement, from a few days ago, regarding his opinion that Marvel Studios has "zero" plans to make Deadpool 3.

"Here’s what people don’t want to hear, but thank God I’m a realist," Liefeld had said. "I feel like Deadpool, the movies, they’ve set sail,"

Now, talking to io9, Liefeld's doubled down on his previous quotes, claiming ""Do I know that there is no movement on a Deadpool 3 right now? I know that. Yes."

"And does that worry me? No. Not at all. What I did was I answered a question honestly. And what I learned this week is just lie. Just tell people everything is lollipop and unicorns and rainbows and you’ll be better off in your life because people want to be lied to."

Liefeld, no longer listed as a producer on Deadpool 3, still insists he's getting large sums thanks to Deadpool.

Going forward, if the film does happen, Liefeld is a huge advocate for star Ryan Reynolds being given creative control. "My opinion is Ryan [Reynolds] should be steering the ship and just completely handed the reins, even to the point of plugging characters in...

It's totally about the money and with production shut down right now of course there's no movement.

I am not sure this has to do with covid shutdowns. It sounds like he is saying, just in general, that Marvel isn't keen on Deadpool 3 regardless, unless I am just misunderstanding his statements.

Considering the current state of the MCU there are probably some people involved who would rather do Gwen Pool instead.

Deadpool 2 was trash so I'd be fine with it ending but I cant imagine the higher ups not wanting to do Deadpool 3 eventually.

It doesn't exactly fit the Disney superheroes mold, so I'm not surprised. I mean the movies meta humour just would not fly with the wider MCU as the target, and it would be super weird and obvious if they didn't poke fun at it.

The only thing I didn't like about Deadpool 2 is that they changed the soundtrack in the extended Super Duper Cut version, for some reason (like removing the incredible acoustic version of "take on me" near the end and replacing it with another run of Celine Dion's "out of ashes" and also changed one of the fight scene songs to something that just didn't fit). Otherwise I loved it.

I was worried about this though when Marvel put their hands on it. The jokes, the entire tone of Deadpool does not really work with how woke Marvel has become and their new agendas however Deadpool is a cashcow for adult superheroe entertainment and I am positive we will see more of him in the future.

Rob Liefeld is just mad that Kevin Feige won't let him be involved with the movies (after he threatened to sue Marvel).

They're working on Deadpool 3 now, and Reynolds is producing it with Kevin Feige:

(if a mod needs further verification I can provide a production grid via PMs too)

What happened is Liefeld found the production grid for Deadpool 3 that only lists Kevin Feige and Ryan Reynolds as the producers and he flipped out because Marvel didn't call him the way Fox did. Fox only called him because Wikipedia calls him the co-creator of Deadpool, when in reality the version of Deadpool the movies are based on was created by Joe Kelly in 1997. Kevin Feige should give Joe Kelly a producer credit on Deadpool 3 just to watch Liefeld go postal.

zero chance disney will let Deadpool be Rated R, which of course loses big chunk of the appeal.

Except when Iger said multiple times it would be rated R:
“It clearly has been and will be Marvel branded. But we think there might be an opportunity for a Marvel-R brand for something like Deadpool. As long as we let the audiences know what’s coming, we think we can manage that fine.”

We do believe there is room for the Fox properties to exist without significant Disney influence over the nature of the content. Meaning that we see that there is certainly popularity amongst Marvel fans for the R-rated Deadpool films, for instance we’re going to continue in that business, and there might be room for more of that.

Even the writers who are working on Deadpool 3 said it's R:
“I think the party line and truth is we’re all still figuring it out. Marvel has promised to continue to let us play in the R-rated Deadpool universe, and the hope is that they will also let us veer into the MCU a little bit as well and play in that sandbox.”

Rob Leifeld wouldn't know a thing about what is happening at Marvel Studios. He burned his bridges with both Marvel and DC. No one cares about him.

I have a soft spot for Deadpool 2, I still love the interview scene where he shows Peter's headshot and goes "Am I getting catfished here?"

The Vanisher turning out be
Brad Pitt
was fucking so out of left field. :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: The entire parachute scene was greatness. :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy:"I'm only yelling to look good in front of the others, I'd never let anything happen to you sugar bear" :messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy: They really should have used Peter more.

No, he nuked the bridges. He's completely blacklisted from both Marvel and DC. And when DC blacklisted him he went on a meltdown claiming they were running off a cliff:

yeah the deadpool they're going for now would have worked great in 2002

and today we'd be talking like yeah that hasn't aged well

you gotta let internet trolls create a deadpool movie or its just gonna fall flat

Nah, Marvel Studios is going to get the people who are actually involved with the current Deadpool comics (which have been great through the last four or so writers) to help out. Not some guy who can't draw feet and hasn't had anything to do with the character since 1991.

Deadpool is basically the MAD Magazine of Marvel. They currently get that, and that's why Marvel decided to reprint Joe Kelly's entire run right after Feige took over the comics.

Duggan's run had my favorite Deadpool bit in the last five years:

Dumb as fuck question, but am I just looking for "Deadpool" and anything 2015 and on?

Disney is not going to let hundred of millions sit on a table because of some misconception they don't make R rated movies. They do. Just not under the name "Disney" (Disney owned Miramax, better know for such family friendly movies like Clerks, Halloween: The Curse of Micheal Myers, From Dusk Til Dawn, Kill Bill, etc...)

Just because Disney owns Marvel doesn't mean that Marvel can't release an R rated movie. To most people, Marvel already has Deadpool movies that were R rated. (Second thing you see in Deadpool 1 and 2 is that MARVEL comic book flip intro after the FOX spotlights)
