Dear Kanye, please fall off of my face. Signed ... Some dude

Don't think Kanye is racist just a confused asshole. His rants over not winning awards always have a racial tangent. His rants about the fashion industry always include race. He will only interrupt a white artist accepting an award cause in his mind the real artists, in both cases Beyonce, were robbed. Million bucks says had Rhianna won over Beyonce he wouldn't rush to stage. To him it was a racial thing. Would be hilarious to see if Eminem was nominated and won against Beyonce. Would he rush up to the stage then?
I think he's just another delusional Beyoncé stan.

I think Kanye is just jealous that Jay Z is married to Beyonce and that he's not. Kanye has to have some weird idol worship of Beyonce tucked away in some random corner of one of his mansions.

I don't know what the most entertaining thing about Kanye is. His music, his public outbursts or how much the internet blows up every time he does a thing.
it's his music

His entertainment value is quickly diminishing and his talent, at whatever he's doing, is over-exaggerated by both himself and his stans.

And if he doesn't get his fill of unanimous praise from whoever he considers to be authority of recognizing modern geniuses at the moment (old rich European dudes apparently) he throws a tantrum rarely seen outside of special needs kindergartens.

This. And only then does he talk about the struggles of the black man. But only when the rich, extremely celebrated black man isn't breaking through the European fashion hierarchy.

so sad for Kanye.

He was helpful in alerting me to the new Beck album, so that was nice of him. I didn't know Grammys were on, rarely buy music, and don't listen to any radio nowadays, so this silliness was at least helpful in alerting me to catch up with Beck's latest. Sampling on Amazon now.

How is Kanye racist?

I'm not saying he is but he always does this crap to white people and...

“We aren’t playing with them anymore. And by the way, I got my wife, my daughter, and I got my clothing line, so I’m not going to do nothing that would put my daughter at risk, but I am here to fight for creativity. That’s the reason why I didn’t say anything tonight, but you all knew what it meant when ’Ye stepped on that stage.”

Do you believe for a second if a prominent white figure said something like this after a black person won something that the media wouldn't be screaming racist and "code words"?

I don't know, he's personality sucks, but he is a brilliant musician. I remember when I first listened to MBDTF. What a feeling, what an album.

I liked his early to mid 2000s era production, his latter stuff is a tad...overwrought. I respect him for doing Yeezus though, it takes an enormous ego and a set of balls to for someone in his position to release an album like that.
I dont think he's racist and anyone who does isnt listening to his music. Dude is craving for that white acceptance, especially from white elites.

I mean his best album was co-produced by Jon Brion. He definitely thirsty for that acceptance. I don't know why he gets so bent out of shape by the Grammy's though. He should know that they mean very little to majority of critics and music writers.

Times change, tastes change, life changes.

He's popular and people like him so he's here to stay. His presence doesn't prevent you from listening to what you previously enjoyed nor is it preventing you from tracking down some music you'd enjoy just the same. He should be a non-issue in your life.

Your version of "earth" doesn't have to include him just like my version didn't include Beck until last night when he won best album (or whatever it was). Life is what you make it. Don't get so caught up in things that don't actually affect you.

What. The. Fuck.

He's not wrong.

I'm limited in my Beck knowledge, but the stuff I've heard from him was pretty good. But here's the thing: The Grammy's are a circle-jerk awards show, and the only time they don't adhere to said circle jerk, is when there is a Black artist and a White artist in the same category. With that said, circle-jerk Grammy logic would say that Beyonce wins that award every time.

Beck winning despite the Grammy's being a glorified popularity contest is a testament to the way the Grammy's works. I'm not even suggesting that one is better than the other. But it goes without saying that Bey is head-over-heels more "relevant" than Beck is, and she still didn't win.

EDIT: This post assumes they were nominated in the same category, as I didn't watch the Grammy's.

Isn't the "them" in this context the grammy board/music industry powers that be?

Kanye does come off as a guy with a big ego but he is a better artist than most other mainstream ones. Still doesn't give him the right to disrespect other artists though.

I think the music industry is better when there's artists like him around.

As for the racist part, HA! Please he's not racist. A lot of white people are simply made uncomfortable by him since he's a strong willed black man who isn't scared to speak his mind and that scares the hell out of a lot of white people who aren't used to him.

I don't like the music of Kanye, Beck or Beyonce so it's pretty inconsequential to me, but I imagine he's just doing it for the publicity. Beck seems like a class act with the way he handled it. The Jay Z reaction to it is frankly more entertaining.

Eh, he is just starting to look toothless and bitter. He has been saying the same shit about the Grammy's and award shows in general for years and yet he keeps coming back. And performing. And making it about him.

Why are white people so scared of confident, head strong black men?

There's a difference between having an outspoken voice and strong opinion and someone acting like an asshole. SURPRISE. Acting like an idiot makes people say charged (sometimes stupid) stuff in response.

Dude I hate Kanye the personality but I would never downplay is musical merits. You don't have to put Jay Z down to somehow prop up Kanye.

Jay Z was a legendary rapper with classics under the belt before Kanye ever "helped" him. And if anything Kanye wouldn't exist without Jay Z. This narrative that he saved Jay Z is tired. if Kanye was never born Jay would have found another up and coming producer to work with. Jay has always had and still does a great ear for production even if his ability to rap great is no longer consistent.

lol.

I don't even know what he is talking about when he says he won't say anything to risk his daughter. What does he think will happen?

And he went ahead and said and did what he said he wouldn't in that post show interview.

I think he's just another delusional Beyoncé stan.

Nope. Like I said had Rhianna won he wouldn't go up. Hell any rapper winning he wouldn't have gone up. You think he goes up to snatch the mic or award from say 50 cent because Beyonce didn't win?

scientology is not a religion tho.
being a member of a creepy-ass scifi cult that engages in blackmail and bullying lawsuits is fair game as long as you don't talk about it that often?

he endorsed fucking Narconon..
you could pull 'scifi' out of that statement and be talking about any given religion. I assume you have similar feelings for every other scientologist?

Also, Beck is a fucking class-act.

That's a seriously classy response. Good on you, Beck.
Nope, we're not allowed to appreciate Beck for his work or his perceived goodwill towards fellow musicians. See proof above

Sounds like he is talking about the music industry.

The power of Kanye West.

Please stop deluding yourselves. People can be outspoken and confident without being insecure assholes.

Kanye isn't racist, he's just very outspoken, self absorbed, needy for respect, and appears uncontrollable, kinda like Spartacus.. You know he isn't from his music.
