Dear Kanye, please fall off of my face. Signed ... Some dude

pretty much sums up kanye's stupidity and garbage mentality. kanye is a hack

On Kanye sampling Drukqs’ “Avril 14th” on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’s “Blame Game”: “Is it a sample? I actually don't know what it ended up being in the end, I'm so slack. I know that he tried to fucking rip me off and claim that he'd written it, and they tried to get away with not paying. I was really helpful, and when they first sent it to me, I was like, ‘Oh, I can re-do that for you, if you like,’ because they'd sampled it really badly and time-stretched it and there was loads of artifacts. I was like, ‘I'll just replay it for you at that speed if you want.’ And they totally didn't even say ‘hello’ or ‘thanks,’ they just replied with, ‘It's not yours, it's ours, and we're not even asking you any more.’” [laughs]

What? No, guys few people outside USA knows this guy, here in Mexico has a tiny, little fanbase, heck even Pherrel is more popular, look at France.

Most people don't know him, honestly my only Kanye knowedge comes from GAF

lmao

I have. Give me a link to one song that has an actual message and a decent flow.

Pretty much his entire first two albums...

Jesus Walks, Spaceship, Gone, some of my favs

Umm. Can I just say I've followed him since his production days and Yeezus is my favourite?

Beyoncé's album is stellar. I'm not sure what he achieved though.

Oh and Sea Change and the Information are the best Beck albums for me.

Ok. Very productive contribution ceases.

I have. Give me a link to one song that has an actual message and a decent flow.

Literally all of College Dropout, Late Registration, parts of Graduation, parts of 808s, parts of MBDTF and...well, I don't really fuck with Yeezus, but I wouldn't be surprised if that had a few. New Slaves at least

Sad. Kanye comment dragged you to buy beck's album but the decade long time he's been in the industry, nothing compelled you to buy them before?

I giggled.

Mellow Gold is one my fav albums. Been listening to it since high school. Keep gigglin'.

Nahh, Kanye cool in my book. You don't have to agree with everyhing he says, enjoy his art. Beck is a grown man, he can defend himself if he feels the need to.

OP not coming back is he

Kanye and 50 had beef years ago. I feel the "Kanye is a racist" argument comes from people who fear him....for their own reasons.

Dude is self-centered blowhard. But racist he ain't.

I just want to point this out:

Did you even read the article you posted? All 50 did was say "If Kanye sells more than me I'm going to quit rap" and all Kanye said was "lol ok 50". It wasn't even lean beef. It was simply a publicity stunt to sell records.

Fact of the matter is, Kanye doesn't have a history of beef with (black) rappers. Kanye would never, never snatch the mic away from 50 or anyone who even looks slightly menacing. He only does the bullying to docile white folks like Taylor Swift and Beck.

TIL 20+ years is a decade.

But seriously though, silly to pick up an album just because of the Kanye 'tude. Beck deserves more respect than that.

Much of his early work was highly story/message driven and his flow and punchlines were great.[/QUOTE]

I don't mind some of his earlier stuff. But let's be honest, it's not legendary and is full of fluff.

How about you tell us your definition of "message" then link to 3-5 Kanye songs that don't have a message.

Any great song will do.

Nope. Like I said had Rhianna won he wouldn't go up. Hell any rapper winning he wouldn't have gone up. You think he goes up to snatch the mic or award from say 50 cent because Beyonce didn't win?

50 Cent is literally the worst example you could come up with lol

Makes Beck more awesome. He took the high road and praised Kanye's talent. Kanye is still a gigantic asshole. Kanye is obviously very talented.

Lets see Kanye try this shit with someone who isn't going to take shit from him on a personal level.

Oh, he's a talented asshole? Yeah, I'll agree with that.

My statement was aimed at those who are saying Kanye isn't talented.

I think the music industry is better when there's artists like him around.

As for the racist part, HA! Please he's not racist. A lot of white people are simply made uncomfortable by him since he's a strong willed black man who isn't scared to speak his mind and that scares the hell out of a lot of white people who aren't used to him.

Why can't he have an opinion? Everyone on this site does. People are acting like he called for Beck's death or something.

He can have an opinion, he just needs to stop acting like a child and running on stage during OTHER people's moments. Didn't his ex father kill some women in a car accident like two days? He's still fucking around? And lol at his wife not keeping him in line.

People like Kanye always end up pissing off the wrong person and end up getting punched. I just hope its caught on TV.

Kanye expresses himself in ways most people would find unconventional, as long as he's not hurting anyone else, he should continuing doing whatever he wants. I doubt he cares if you or anyone else thinks he's an asshole, it's not like he's not aware the stuff he does has repercussions.

Dude's passionate, I love him.

lol now it's bullying....
The common denominator here is his friend Beyonce who he thinks deserves all the awards (she does), not white people. Taylor and Beck just happened to be there.

The only people who he "bullied" were those who beat Beyoncé when he thought she put out the best thing ever (Single Ladies video and the self-titled album).

It's official, Taylor Swift and Beck are the representatives of all white people! Now that we have established that, you guys need to talk to your community leaders about the white on white violence that's plaguing America.

Any great song will do.

Right, so you can't do it. Noted.

I see nothing wrong with his post. Most art does take inspiration from what came before it. But I see you're trying to make a point about sampling being bad and I don't feel like engaging in that discussion again.

Again, I don't find sampling bad, nor once up in here have I said that sampling is bad. I like sampling. I think sampling helps a lot of (music) artists achieve what they want to make if they feel that they can't quite put into music what they want to say.

But by it's very definition, sampling means that the work you're creating *isn't original*. You can't even say it's "inspired by". It's not. It's (partially) copied. And that's OK. That's cool. Musical artists utilize others' *original* content for their own.

It's not hard to understand that sampling(copying) =/= inspiring. There's a huge difference there and I'm really not understand why the fuck no one gets that.

Yeah, I'm still pretty surprised that it won.

See, all this thread is talking about is Kanye West. Folks trying to validate & invalidate him and his music to fit their view because of what he's done.Yet we shouldn't forget that all this started because Beck won album of the year. Are you kidding me? How did this happen? Why or how did he win?

Kanye West may not be right for doing this, and his rant of course is just drivel that's filled with contradictions for people who don't like him to nit pick over, but what drove him to do it, YET AGAIN, I think is valid.

The same way people are making accusations on Kanye even though they don't know him. Internet opinions and hyperbole on many accounts I guess...

Your actions speak for you as a person. Kayne has done some dumb shit while he's been famous. Beck seems fine with it so it doesn't really matter.

How the fuck would you even know this?

I think it's pretty clear that a lot of people talking out their ass. I think it's hilarious that Kanye is on this artistry tip when Beyonce is involved. Her entire life is basically a commercial of corporate sponsorship ("in the name of art"). She just released the most daring album of her entire life like 2 decades after she was singing soundtrack songs for Charlie's Angels remakes and yet her tour is sponsored by a credit card company. AND SHE'S MARRIED TO JAY-Z. There are not enough LOL's in the world.

Beck is just some dude that covered a classic INXS album in a day for fun with Liars, St. Vincent and Sergio from Os Mutantes. He maybe should ask Paul McCartney who Os Mutantes are or maybe he got a music nerd advisor that puts him up on such things.

Whoever is saying Kanye is vapid and talentless can get thrown in the bushes.

Whoever is shitting on music sampling can get tossed in the bushes, too.

I bet if someone like, say, Adam Baldwin said some shit like this to or about a Black artist, we'd have the anti-PC police all up in this thread. Point is, people speak their minds in an unfiltered way at times. Kanye is one of those types of people. But since he does it, we're tryin'a toss him off the planet now because he's saying some shit that makes some of you uncomfortable?

I can't wait to see what kind of pearl-clutching y'all do when Black Panther comes out...

Look, I don't really jam with Kanye.

That said, people talking about Kanye is response to his Beck comments when Beck is happy to have the dude onstage.

Which was frankly apparent from the show last night: Beck was happy as hell that Kanye almost stumped on him.

So, if you're saying Kanye ain't shit and Beck is awesome, but Beck thinks Kanye's awesome, where does that leave you?

And if you're talking about Beck rolling with it just to be nice, man Beck is probably one of the most genuine dudes in the music industry.
With a different opinion then Beck. Just because Beck finds his schtick charming doesn't mean everyone else has to. It's not like this is the only time Kanye has done something a lot of people consider annoying.

And yet, you don't even attempt to defend yourself...all I'm saying is that it's a bit funny that you're calling someone a douchebag for having strong feelings, yet you'd probably take offense if people in here called you the same for having equally strong feelings

If someone wants to challenge my opinions, they're free to do so, especially if they're inflammatory towards others. There's nothing weird about criticizing statements or things that go against your core values. That's how discussion boards work usually. If someone disagrees with my position, I will gladly engage and discuss matters further. He's one of the more widely known artists in the industry right now, and he made a pretty ridiculous statement. It's not surprising that he'd be scrutinized for it. I certainly would expect as much if I had that sort of spotlight. He has a history of saying some pretty "out there" shit and the public takes note, which is why he's been seen as an egomaniac for some time now. Some people can separate the art from the artist, others can't. Hell, plenty of people enjoy his personality. Personally, I'm not a fan, but it looks like Beck didn't take any of it to heart which is the best case scenario. Another artist could have taken things completely differently and it would have created unnecessary conflict.

“At that point, you can’t replace it,” 50 added. “Even an apology can’t replace what it feels like for the very first time receiving that award. Now in her head, ‘My first award was Kanye West.’ And it’s damaging. I wish he would come take one of my awards so I can black his eye in front of everybody.”

Also, not rappers, but Kanye has "beef" with at least two black radio personalities that criticized him while he was promoting Yeezus on their radio shows:

For all we know...it could be a stunt or etc. Bottom line is that Ye is Ye. Dude always been a serial dick and the fact that Beck kept it cool speaks volumes on many accounts. It's really not that serious because it's a grammy. I'm like this...Ye is like the Andy Kaufman of Hip Hop. Dude trolls and if he gets people mad...he done his job. Ignore his antics and just listen to the music.

Again, you can find Kanye annoying. I find Kanye annoying.

But to say Kanye isn't talented? Within his industry, that's simply not true.
