Dear Kanye, please fall off of my face. Signed ... Some dude

Why can't he have an opinion? Everyone on this site does. People are acting like he called for Beck's death or something.

He can have an opinion and is free to voice it; other people are free to call him out on being a douche about it. Simple. Freedom of speech doesn't mean you're free from the consequence of the negative backlash you get as a result of your inane ramblings.

Why are white people so scared of confident, head strong black men?
They're not, where is the fear there? People are just calling him an asshole.

On the issue I don't think that he's a racist, he just doesn't seem to understand or like music outside of the genres he likes and because of that he cannot understand when his favourites don't win.

Dude is a massive cunt though.

sums up how i feel... just all around really disrespectful, even if he is trolling. Beck is hardly what i'd consider part of "the machine" when it comes to the modern music industry... there are bigger fish to fry, yknow?

Is that what we're calling douchebaggery now?
Going by your posts, you are in fact a douchebag as well. Using a public forum to air your grievances about a person, and or, system. Right. Good to know.

Do you see how dumb your post is now, once you can turn it on anyone like that?

Certainly not Beck. Kanye has to make a scene to get people to listen to what he has to say because he has no message musically or otherwise. He's a spectacle, a vapid, vapid spectacle.

This is so wrong.

Are you basing this opinion his last album Yeezus or MBDTF? Or his earlier work?

So it's just a cycle of bitching. I see.

college dropout, late registration, and the graduation were fucking dope, then kanye bought into his own hype and started releasing absolute shit under the guise of "experimental and innovative". dude has completely fell off. only reason his peers dont completely trash him is because kanye keeps such important company in the industry, so calling out kanye is also likely burning bridges.

his newest song is shit. its a dude who cant sing so he uses autotune in the most abrasive way to sonehow carry the song. but because its kanye people give him a pass and say its good. seriously ive heard chief keef use autotune better than that and people shit on keef.

nothing would please me more than to see a good hiphop artists throw ether at kanye in the form of a diss song.

Are you Kanye? Sounds like you're taking it a bit personally there.

The funny thing about people getting mad about Ye's stunt is the fact that they never bought a Beck album in their lives or a fan of Beck.

Some probably didn't know that he had a album last year, but it is what it is.

Why can't he have an opinion? Everyone on this site does. People are acting like he called for Beck's death or something.

He can have an opinion. However, calling attention to yourself and expressing your opinion in the most unprofessional and pathetic ways makes you an asshole and invalidates said opinion.

I wonder if Beyonce appreciates his antics. She certainly doesn't need his shit.

It would be great if someone answered this question for people who didn't watch the Grammys last night.

From reading this thread, people just assume that he wouldn't take an award off a black person because both the artists he did this to were white.

Argue with the charge of racism, don't defend Kanye's idiocy though. I don't know in what world where that type of behavior is acceptable. If you disagree with your employers direction do you snatch a mic during an all staff meeting? You wanna be outspoken or opinionated then put it in your art.

Certainly not Beck. Kanye has to make a scene to get people to listen to what he has to say because he has no message musically or otherwise. He's a spectacle, a vapid, vapid spectacle.

I tip my hat to you.
Cheers.

I have to agree with your assessment of Kanye as nothing more than a vapid spectacle. Well put :D

Do you know what "most" means?

Yes I do - and his next response -

There is almost no original anything really. Art is inspired by past art and it creates new art.

Is even more fucking laughable.

"Inspired by" doesn't mean "directly taken from". There's a huge difference. Kanye *directly takes from* other peoples' music. Like, literally lifts the music and uses it to make his own. There's nothing wrong with that, but let's not act like he's this super-original talent that has come to save the planet from bland boring music. He's still utilizing other peoples' work to augment his own. And the argument that "well all/most art is just a copy anyway" is laughable at best and downright insulting to other artists at worst.

But all you salty people being salty is great. Keep it coming!

How this, or something else from this episode, has not been posted is beyond me. Id still switch places with him though. It would be nice to have stupid rich people money. Too bad his lazy screw of a wife (most boringest sex tape ever) is more plastic than your average spatula, she used to be really damn hot.

Look, I don't really jam with Kanye.

That said, people talking about Kanye is response to his Beck comments when Beck is happy to have the dude onstage.

"I was just so excited he was coming up. He deserves to be on stage as much as anybody," Beck said when asked how he felt about West crashing the stage. "How many great records has he put out in the last five years right?"

Which was frankly apparent from the show last night: Beck was happy as hell that Kanye almost stumped on him.

So, if you're saying Kanye ain't shit and Beck is awesome, but Beck thinks Kanye's awesome, where does that leave you?

And if you're talking about Beck rolling with it just to be nice, man Beck is probably one of the most genuine dudes in the music industry.

It would be great if someone answered this question for people who didn't watch the Grammys last night.
The argument is that he only does this to white artists and always does it on behalf that he thinks a black artist should have won.

Basically if we saw a white artist come up because Beyoncé won an award and he raved about how Taylor Swift should have won the people would have suspected racism but they do not in this situation.

Not that I agree.

I can see how Kanye can come off to some as racist but it's really only because he's so desperate to be loved by the white establishment.

It's probably why he so frequently runs to Beyonce's defense because he obviously sees her as someone that's supremely talented and thinks she's being snubbed like he is.

I see nothing wrong with his post. Most art does take inspiration from what came before it. But I see you're trying to make a point about sampling being bad and I don't feel like engaging in that discussion again.

How this, or something else from this episode, has not been posted is beyond me.

It's not funny anymore, try different jokes

Only One is wack as fuck. But let's not try to make a comparison between Keef's music and that song bruh. Only One sounds like ass and I can't stomach that shit for more than 2 seconds (seriously, shit sounds so bad) but a quick glance at the lyrics pretty much tells you why some people might like the song and prefer it to a Keef track.

Two different dudes making two different kinds of music, aimed at two different crowds.

You might as well compare Linkin Park to Queens of the Stone Age.

I'm not saying he is but he always does this crap to white people and...

Do you believe for a second if a prominent white figure said something like this after a black person won something that the media wouldn't be screaming racist and "code words"?

These types of false equivalencies aren't helpful towards your argument because I'm going to assume you are fully aware of the history of black US citizens in the United States and why it is not acceptable socially in the United States for white US citizens to make statements like this.

Regardless, if you read the full quote, it's clear he's talking about the Grammys, not white people:

I don’t even know what Beck said. I just know that, the Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We aren’t going to play with them no more. ‘Flawless.’ Beyoncé’s video. And Beck needs to respect artistry, he should have given his award to Beyoncé. At this point, we tired of it. What happens is, when you keep on diminishing art, and not respecting the craft, and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental feats of music, you’re disrespectful to inspiration. We, as musicians, have to inspire people who go to work every day, and they listen to that Beyoncé album, and they feel like it takes them to a different place. And then they do this promotional event, and they’ll run the music over somebody’s speech, the artist, because they want commercial advertising. We aren’t playing with them anymore. And by the way, I got my wife, my daughter, and I got my clothing line, so I’m not going to do nothing that would put my daughter at risk, but I am here to fight for creativity. That’s why I didn’t say anything tonight, but you all knew what it meant when ‘Ye stepped on that stage.

Kanye's music is great and I have always found all his bravado and bluster hilarious. He's just an arrogant loudmouth, it's not like he actually does anything horrible. It's funny to me how mad people continue to get at him. It's just Kanye being a jackass.

Next time Kanye wins a Grammy someone should go up there and say someone else deserved to win. Im sure Kanye would actually be ok with it.

Certainly not Beck. Kanye has to make a scene to get people to listen to what he has to say because he has no message musically or otherwise. He's a spectacle, a vapid, vapid spectacle.

This is as bad as when cliffy B said macklemore is the only rapper with something to say... Such ignorance.

That's some logic you've got there.

And yet, you don't even attempt to defend yourself...all I'm saying is that it's a bit funny that you're calling someone a douchebag for having strong feelings, yet you'd probably take offense if people in here called you the same for having equally strong feelings

Wait.......Beck? Album of the year?

Kanye West is a massive dickhead, but really? ALBUM OF THE YEAR?

How the hell did he win that?

So, if you're saying Kanye ain't shit and Beck is awesome, but Beck thinks Kanye's awesome, where does that leave you?

Makes Beck more awesome. He took the high road and praised Kanye's talent. Kanye is still a gigantic asshole. Kanye is obviously very talented.

Lets see Kanye try this shit with someone who isn't going to take shit from him on a personal level.

How the fuck would you even know this?
