I still find this game challenging, I dunno. You have to know how to play these games and have experience. The only one I've played through fully is Bloodborne, and it took me a long time and it was hard as fuck. I played a fair bit of DeS when it first came out but didn't beat it, and never attempted DS more than a couple hours of the first game. So coming back to DeS, yeah I do find it challenging.

You have to unlearn your regular gaming tendencies. It feels deliberately designed to punish bad habits instilled from years of standard game designs. I just finished 3-1 for the first time and I died a good handful of times getting to and finishing the boss. Fell down one of the broken path segments even though I was literally slow walking through the entire place, just the one fucking time I lost focus and ran, I hit a hole for fucks sake lol. The squid guys can get you good if you aren't careful and I died 3 times on the boss alone because of those fucking floor traps I hadn't memorized the locations of. When people laugh this off as a joke I just think you have to be an experienced souls player to say that.

DeS definitely can be challenging for first time players but also believe most of the challenge comes from hard to navigate environments, enemy placements and traps more than bosses. Some could argue that Sekiro has much harder boss fights and I would agree but Sekiro has much more mobility compare to DeS for the environments to ever pose a serious threat.

The fact that I didnt understand half the jargon used, it's pretty obvious you've played the franchise a ton beforehand.
