Demon´s Souls is Way Too Easy

This game was very difficult for me back in 2009 for my first run on PS3. After playing through the other Dark Souls games + Bloodborne, I came back to Demon's Souls and it was a cakewalk (with the exception of Maneater). I had actually quit leveling up past level 50 because I felt like my character was already too overpowered. This time on PS5, I'm still early on, but I'm trying to avoid doing things that make the game less challenging.

My first and last Souls game was Bloodborne. I almost returned it in frustration. Almost. Then it clicked and I never looked back. One of the best games I've ever played. First and only platinum trophy on my PS4. When it was all said and done, I felt done with the Souls games period. Exhausting experience that was well worth all the frustration, but I understand how many just can't get into it.

With all that said, as someone that feels like they experienced the peak of the Souls franchise, is it worth playing Demons Souls? I probably won't get my hands on a PS5 till next year so I'm not even sure if I'll still be interested by then. Game looks fantastic, but is there anything for a tired Bloodborne vet to get out of this?

Level 162? LMAO, I would hope it would be easy at that point. Jesus, you are overleveled to hell and back.

Edit: I just checked and you are more than twice the level of one of my NG+ characters. Do a Soul Level 1 run and get back to me.

Yea I checked out as soon as I saw SL162.

I think I ended my NG+ Bloodborne run at ~140. Platinumed at around SL160.

All I can tell you is I played Demon's Souls right after Bloodborne (went on a binge after beating BB and beat all the Souls games up to that point).

DeS is easily 2nd if not tied with BB for me. It has this vibe and disconnected/abstract feel that is not there in DS1-3.

I actually think Demon's Souls is way closer to the level I prefer. It's not easy, but if you're just cautious and a solid gamer, you'll get through to the end - with the emphasis on exploration, cool art, horror, and action. I think Sekiro is not quite perfectly balanced at the sweet spot, as I've been playing action games my entire life and still found it just a bit too frustrating.

I'm hoping they find a nice balance in future games, because Sekiro seems like the least thoughtfully balanced game in the series.

Sekiro is pure skill, my favorite.

At level 162 with a quality build you were basically 1 hitting enemies in ng+. You are bragging that you spent hours farming to level up? LOL
Even WITH a couple hours of soul farming I finished ng at lvl 85 and that's because I used the ring of Avarice 90% of the time since I got it.
I was level 101 when I was done with ng+.

OP is obviously a routined souls player and this thread is for other hardcore souls players. Love seeing the amount of salt souls-plebs can pour in this thread though 😂

I've never played a souls game, but tip my hat to all great gamers. If Bloodborne ever comes in 60fps I will try it. The setting and aesthetics is more my cup of tea.

so you are over leveled and crying that it is easy :) try under leveled character? oh, but nooo, better farm exp, then later to cry it is easy :)

So you not only farmed to hell and back but also used a guide to tell you what weapons to upgrade with what materials. Nobody simply playing the games on their own even remembers that shit, they just play, progress, get stuff, see what they can do with that stuff at the smiths. I finished Demon's Souls primarily using, once acquired, the good old Crescent Falcion and Winged Spear upgrading them to whatever degree I could with the mats I got throughout the game organically, never changing them to some other property or anything. That said I agree the game's fairly easy except for maneater if you don't think of using the middle part of the area for some shielding and just sit on the bridges but new game + is sufficiently hard as boss attacks take a lof of health/stamina then so any mistake costs, you can't overpower/outlast them without learning all their moves anymore. I'm only really surprised folks find the flame lurker hard, all his attacks were easy to avoid after running around and baiting him to see all his skills, I just took some flame trail damage which wasn't even a lot despite not using fire resistant gear and otherwise the fight went super smooth.

Edit: no honest I only used a guide for that one thing, nothing else, totally, and I spontaneously switched to "quality" path without knowing about that even though when you first get the chance to change path you'd just see less damage output and so just keep adding + to the standard path :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Anything wrong with farming?

Hate the game not the player.

I didn't use any guide (only for bow) , my weapon is the bastard sword quality max & Kiliji lvl 10.

2 pretty standard weapons, I use the Lava Bow that I saw on a guide sure, all the rest all by myself.

My Shield is the Knight shield.

Game is ultra easy, period. A disappointment after Sekiro for sure. It's a fact.

Did you also beat Midir in DS3 with no weapon using only one hand while jerking yourself off with the other?
You sound like that kind of guy...

No, bosses like that or Nameless king actually pose a threat.

Demon's Souls Bosses are easy in comparison.

If it makes you happy to think that I'm fine with it.

I mean, in all fairness, the game isn't really that hard. But it's the first of its kind. This is what started the "Souls genre."

So anyone who has already played them all will come back to this one and be fine. The bosses are mostly not hard, there are many builds that make it much easier, ect. But what I always see is people who make the easiest build, summon for every fight, level up like crazy, google the easiest methods for beating bosses, and then complain that it wasn't hard enough.

Haven't played the remake yet, but yeah, the original was definitely the easiest in the series for me (I started with DkS1 and then did DeS).

That's why the first Soul game is always the hardest. Sekiro is like a cakewalk compared to when I first play DES. Also Sekiro save point before the boss is so damn forgiving

People are already attacking OP, but he's right. The original Demon's Souls wasn't hard, and was a good starting point for the franchise.

Some users here can be a little too insecure sometimes.

The problem is 162lvl is too much high for 2 runs. The guy has been farming and is over leveled

all the souls games are the same. there is a learning curve of a few hours at the start but if you make it past that then you'll be strolling through the game kicking ass. it actually becomes relaxing once it clicks.

i'm so glad they didn't make an easy mode for the cry babies who want their hand held. like any other game you just need to take the time to learn how it works...it's just because it requires a bit more thinking + skill that people give up or don't want to touch it in the first place so they end up going playing some mindless game like CoD, Fortnite, or GTA.

It is only really hard for the first few levels. Besides Maneaters the bosses are never really a challenge in this game. It was always getting through the actual levels was the challenge. Now that can be made easy if you over-level or summon help or don't have PS+ and play in human form with zero risk of invasion.

In Dark Souls getting through the levels is a joke but the bosses can be hard. Same with Sekiro.

As others have said, I am finding the bosses to be generally easier than other Souls games. Maneater is tough compared to other bosses in the game, but isn't too bad when compared to some of the harder bosses in Dark Souls/Bloodborne/Sekiro.

Where it is a lot trickier is in its exploration. As someone who has played the other From Software games, I am used to opening up shortcuts and finding plenty of bonfires to make navigating back to bosses pretty straight forward. Demon's Souls is far more stingy with the shortcut porn. Sure some levels have actual shortcuts, but most of them instead have 'shortcuts' that involve precise dropping (4-2), or still having to deal with challenging enemy encounters (1-2), or just straight up having to run through the whole level again to get back to the boss.

It's almost impossible to lose against the first boss of DeS. Turning on the console is harder than that boss.

Give me a fucking break, it's not hard but people take this way too far. It definitely killed me once the first time I played the game and wasn't a Soulsborne vet.

All this people saying bosses in DeS are easier than the rest of the series and at the same time saying Maneater is hard...

Come on. Some DeS bosses are harder than most of the bosses from Dark Souls, but Maneater isn't hard, it's not even the hardest DeS boss.

Stopped reading @ SL162 Quality Build NG+

Also from my experience, The difficulty from the original game came from the initial route and run-backs to the bosses, not the bosses themselves outside of maybe 2-1, 2-2 and 1-4. Compared to other bosses in the series line, all DeS bosses are more creative and have more of a "boss" design to them, before every boss fight became > Identify 2-3 attacks > iF Roll 2-3 attacks and swing.

Idiotic post.

Demon's Souls is my favorite for the fact that its the levels that are the most difficult. I don't think any other Souls game, Blooodborne, or Sekiro have quite the same difficulty when it comes to first exploring a level. Hence, its my favorite.

Plus, 162?! Yeah, not much is going to slow you down with that kind of build.

I actually agree with that, most of the difficulty of Demons Souls is navigating the areas for first time.
Yup, the rhythm of the game is much different from any of the other SoulsBorne games because of this. It creates an interesting tension that is not quite replicated in any of the other games.

If anything, it's Dark souls that is too easy. Demon's souls is the dark souls of souls games.

...wait, what..?

havent played much of it, but just got done with spider man so might give it a play more after CoD. What I did play was easier then I remember but most likely I just remember the old version deep down and drawing from that. I did play the shit out of it back in the day.

Random question. Is there a way to wear heavy armor and still fast roll? I can't remember if it's vit or endurance that raises it, but can you level them to say 60 and fast roll in heavy armor?

162? Stop farming way too much and play the damn game. 162 is ridiculously high and kinda embaressing that you needed to farm that much to beat the game
