Demon's Souls |OT| Power was granted, so the world could be mended

JORMBO

Darkness no more
That fire AOE spell is laughably broken. I used it on the 1-3 boss and it instantly drained 95% of his health.

I just beat adjudicator on the second try. First time I didn’t even see the guy and he killed me but that way way back and I was much weaker then. This time I think I just luckily figured out his weakness / weak spot for my first shot using a bow and then just kicked his arse. That is a good feeling since I was expecting to have to really grind this part of the game. Now the red eyes guy I ran past to get here is in the room and I’m more scared of facing him haha!

Every time the smith in the nexus says his line “I can tell you’re not going to last long” when you don’t buy something I feel like yelling at him “I’ve given you hundreds of thousands of souls mofo”. This is the sort of thing I feel bluepoint should have expanded on, such as giving him a second variable line or something.

Just beat this incredible game. I got the bad ending, I love how they did the Old One and that ending. Took me 32 hours.

Still so in love with this game. It is so well done! Looking forward to NG+ and 100%ing and many future replays.
Just trying to get a feel for what leveling people are doing. What was your level at the end?

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I'm making a lot more progress now, I've been sticking with the game. Maybe it's just my old not-so-plasticized brain these days, but I get to a certain point where I just have to turn this off and go do something else. Then after taking a break for a while I can come back and do much better. I suppose it could be just a way also to patiently calm my rage though.

I beat the 2-1 spider boss, thanks to the saint who left a message showing me a safe place to stand and hit him with magic constantly. That recovered my body which was nice. I had dabbled into 3-1 a bit and got past the first few fog banks, so with my new found body + extra health I said "fuck it" and went diving into 3-1 again. Well - I made it to the end of 3-1 and got to the leechmonger boss. I tried staying up top and shooting him with my magic, but it seems that my guy can't cast fast enough and the dude just constantly regenerates. So I went into the fray with my crescent scimitar +1 and was able to take him out although at the end of the fight I was almost completely out of grass.

I used my souls to repair my shit, upgrade my buckler (I can't upgrade my sword yet, not sure why), and level up three times. I'm soul level 33 now, I think I'll try taking on 4-1 (I've been farming souls there a lot on the first skeletons).

Played about 8 hours of co-op today with my friend. He is doing a Strength build while I'm doing Dexterity build with a mix of Short Bow and various swords. We are about 15 hours in and each only have the final boss left. I've managed to get each world to Pure White so I've gotten all the events complete and give the heavy weapons to my friend. Trying to decide if I should change the worlds to Pure Black before finishing.

This playthrough is the first time in the series I've actually upgraded and used a bow consistently. It's a lot more fun than expected. Makes me want to play through DS3 with a bow build.

i was at level 80 but i think that may be considered pretty over leveled? couldn't decide if i wanted str or magic build so i went with both.
Nah, not bad at all, especially for going into NG+. The old 'hardcore' community used to cap at about 120 as I recall. Anything over that and your were less likely to see tons of signs or get summoned. Of course, there are always those playing with at least one character that they just keep leveling....like ME! :)

Were you getting summoned and finding people to summon into your game at level 80?

I’ve never played a Souls game before.

First go through I get annihilated by a bad guy on top of the castle wall and start from the beginning. No problem, as I heard this game was hard.

Second go through I take a left instead of a right on top the castle wall, make it reasonably far, and then get stuck in geometry. Pretty frustrating and not the best initial impression.

Hey bros. When making a new character. It has the option of two animations styles. Style A and B.

Is style A a female animation? I can't really tell lol

I know how to repair my weapons but was wondering, when the weapon is damaged is it weaker?

Like if I'm about to fight a boss should I make sure my weapon is completely repaired or does the red bar only indicate when the weapon is about to break? At the moment I'm about half way through the red bar and I can't really tell if my weapon is weaker or not.

Yoshichan

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
They’re not even consistent with this whole type A/B bullshit. When reading the lore for one of the female exclusive items, it literally says that the item is primarily used by females. Lol.

The smiths are absolute jerks in DeS.

The one in Stonefang especially. When you leave without upgrading he goes "Bbaaahhh. Don't. Waste. My. Time." Yeah dude, I'm sure you get tons of work down there, it's not like you're stuck in this fucking rabbit hole that nobody knows about

I'm really trying to git gud with this game but I might just have to once again concede that Souls games aren't for me.

I've played this now for 12 hours. I probably lost 3 of those hours due to a bug when I first played through that had me stuck and required me to start over. In 9 hours I've been able to beat the boss at the end of 1-1, and I've made it to the boss at 1-2 a few times but never have beat him. My character is at soul level 21 and I'm playing a magic build (royal) so I keep putting points in magic, but it doesn't seem like my spell gets much stronger? I've probably lost about 50,000 souls so far from dying (then dying again before I can get back to the same spot). I see people saying that I need to upgrade my weapons, but I haven't found an option to upgrade my staff. I found a different staff but the stats on it were much worse than my starting equipment.

I can't help but shake the feeling that I'm just playing this game entirely wrong.
I’m royal as well. I cheesed the tower knight by going up to the tallest part of the castle and spammed soul arrows down on him when he does his spear thrust when he’s fully extended, that’s when you cast your soul arrows. It takes timing and patience but in about 15 mins you’ll be able to take him down. He can’t really hit you from that high (hit me once). I also really suck at these games. Used a YouTube guide if you really get stuck. Run around with your shield up, and keep a distance and just spam soul arrows. I have a pretty shitty weapon, but I hear there’s a spear you can use that’s pretty useful and makes the game pretty easy. Stick with it and be patient. The game is so rewarding when it all comes together.

EDIT: I realized I commented on your old post and you’re way farther now :/

People playing this game on fidelity mode should be sent to pay a special visit to Jeff from Alyx, without any vodka bottles available, of course...

I'm loving the game, but if I can find one thing to complain about, is that Jesus Christ, they went out of their way to make the create a character presets ugly as fuck. It's so hard to make a good looking character that I just said, "fuck it, good enough I guess". And the "body type" thing...well, at least there was not much here that the woke crowd could eff up. :p

After finishing NG+, I thought I'd give royalty a shot for old times sake. What a snoozefest. I'm never going to suggest royalty to anyone ever again.

You should do pure black for the black phantoms and primeval demons. Get those colorless demon souls.

I think I've officially destroyed any chance I have of progressing. I entered NG+ with Pure Black world tendency in the Shrine of Storms, and there is a guy right at the entrance who I can not kill. I could kill him, but when he gets low he eats grass and goes back to full. No weapon I have does enough damage to him to kill him before he can get the grass off, and spells do practically nothing.

EDIT: The only chance I have is to beat a PvP enemy, but I have no room to maneuver without triggering the enemies, and PvPers know it, so I can't finish one off, because I can't follow them if they just run away for a bit. Not like I could beat a quality PvPer anyway without a PvP build. This is infuriating.

summon help?

Speaking of co-op don't try to help with the Maneater boss unless you want to be the boss for old monk. As I just discovered lol. At least I won and got that invasion tropy that I thought I'd never get as I hate and suck at pvp.

I think I'm screwed, I got to full black somehow on 4-1 and theres a katana weilding phantom at the beginning and I cant kill him. I hit for like 3 percent health and he destroys me in 2 hits

This is the same guy I was talking about.

summon help?
Usually an invader gets to me first, but the times I have summoned help, the helpers immediately die. The Katana dude is just way too strong.

In PS3 Demon's Souls, you could reset all your world tendencies to Neutral. They apparently took that out of the PS5 version, so there's literally nothing I can do. I have tried to just run past all enemies, but inevitably one of the rollers stuns me and I promptly die.

I actually am not sure if there is a build not using Soulsucker that can kill the guy solo, because weapons and magic do so little damage and the full heal is gross.

yeah. well, not summoned, but i got invaded shortly after NG+ and some dude instantly ruined my world tendency.

will probably have to start a new game for the plat. it seems like the best way to do it is first do Pure White on every world, then Pure Black. or should i be ok to go Pure Black on this playthrough then White for the next?

kinda a little confused about the proper way to plat. anyone have any good guides?

Have you tried getting summoned? I think that's supposed to change the world tendency too if you kill the boss.
I had my soul sign down for about an hour, never got summoned. I may just have to sit there like that all day to see if I can get summoned.

Anyone here around level 80 wants to summon me and let me help? :) I'm in 4-1 just waiting. heh.

Anyone else having problems getting game to load? Mine is getting stuck at opening screen. Tried Restarting game, ejecting disk and its still doing it. Frustrating

Edit, just tried ejecting my disk and restarting ps5 and it still won't play

Edit 2 after trying to load from a card system froze on me. Had to do a hard power off. Turned back on and game loaded normal. Hope they fix this and the nexus crash soon.

Ps3 had busted servers in the west, having neutral tendencies online was not a feature, it was never solved issue. JP servers worked properly.

Big tip: suicide in the nexus after each boss, explore levels in soul Form and, if you really need help, use a Stone of Ephemeral Eyes at the boss Gate and summon there to prevent being invaded (if invaded while looking for summon signs, enter boss Gate and as soon as the invader is kicked, quit and reload, you will be back at the boss Gate).

I made it pure black on purpose, I just forgot to do something about it before going to NG+.

I do not really care if the reset was a bug, it was incredibly useful for world 4, because otherwise you have this, where it creates an impossible to solve situation. I finally got summoned in to someone else's world, and neither killing a PvP target there nor killing a boss there did anything to my World Tendency. So literally I have no choice but to luck into an invasion who basically let's me kill them, before I run out of stones. I guess I might as well just start over because that's not going to happen.

Hey fellow demon slayers. :messenger_ogre:

I have some questions!

1.

I've got the crescent falchion from the shrine of storms.
It seems that its regenerating my mana like the fragrant ring.

So does this regenaration get stronger when i upgrade the falchion and does it stack with the ring?

2.

I play offline to have full contol over my tendencys.
So lets say i wanna get the monk's head collar.
I think i have to play online to get it.
Will this mess up the world tendency for the corosponding archstone? Or even the hole game?

3.

What about the door in the nexus?
The one at the hightest point.
Above the monumental.

Does it open in the late game or...?

4.

Do i have the bring the boss souls to blacksmith ed for special upgrades or is it enough to have it at stockpile thomas's storage?

Thats about it.

Happy slaying!

I did not get the killing blow on either the black phantom or the boss, so it's possible that that might work, but otherwise no, I got no credit towards my own world tendency for being a blue phantom and helping someone else run through the area.

Black world tendency spawns these Primeval Demons, one in each world. if you take them out it raises you 3 levels back towards white.

zNzabFa.jpg

unfortunately the one in Shrine of Storms spawns after the second (Adjucator) boss fight.

Holy shit wtf is that thing? Primeval Demon?

Never saw this thing in the original

So pure black tendency for it to appear ?

Does it drop something important when you slay it?

Wonder what is the lore behind these primeval creatures

It drops a colorless demon's soul, which are the only way to upgrade special weapons. You can only get ten colorless per run and five are from killing these.

From what I remember:
1) Yes, it does get stronger as you upgrade it. At base it is 1 mana every 5 seconds, at max it is one mana every 3 seconds. It does stack with the ring, but it won't stack with another crescent weapon of the same level. So that is a no go on 2 +5 weapons, but a +4 and +5 do stack (when dual wielding). And they all stack with the Phosphorescent Pole (a mediocre weapon with the best regen in the game; FYI regen works even if you don't meet requirements to wield it).

2) You do have to play online to get the head collar. Not sure if it will mess up your tendency on other levels, but it probably would on that level. However, once you have killed the Monk on your game, I don't think it matters what you do in that level (just be sure to complete the world tendency events before going on line).

3) That door is available when you are online, it shows the online leaderboards.

4) I'm not 100% sure on this one, I think it should work as long as you have the soul, but I could be wrong.

Hope this helps!

This has happened to me a few times with the digital version. Annoying because it beeps multiple times while rebooting and wakes my kids up.....I hate that beep.

Happened twice to me.

Restarting the console helps.

I'm not sure why it happens.
