Be honest, you got a bit more interested in doing a run like that now!

I was thinking about it, and I'm a little disappointed that (spoiler for anyone who hasn't beaten the game)
the humongous demon in the intro wasn't in the game
. I was looking forward to that, as opposed to the
"final boss"
they gave us instead.

Ok GAF here's my progress:

Soul level 60+

Beaten 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 2-1, 4-1, 4-2, 4-3

Been playing like a Red Mage (FFXI)

Now I'm thinking I should do the Stormruler farming trick in 4-3, get myself 2,000,000+ souls and get myself to at least SL 100+, I get around 20k per run every 1.5 minutes, so that = 800,000 souls per hour (give or take), do it for 3-4 hours and just get my stats up
(Is it a good idea?)

It's been a great adventure, learned from mistakes, and some I wish I never committed
LOL, I lost the tower shield ; ;, couldn't pick it up due to weight, + I beat the 1-3 boss, and went back to nexus w/o reading wiki, that the Blue Dragon will not show up in 1-4 (Fuuuccckkk!!!!!)

God this game has so many elements to it, I'm still confused at parts, but just trying different tricks/styles/tips from others/or just your own and then it hits you like oh that's how you do it

1 thing that is strange, there's no hand holding in this game, which is making the experience more fun/amazing

It's not a bad idea per se, but I think you'd get much better use of your time farming for stones, unique weapons, etc., if you're talking plat, that is. You'll still be racking up souls but also getting stuff you'll need anyway. If you're just talking about leveling up for more general ass-kicking purposes, yeah that's pretty much the best spot in the game.

It could be the
Storm King or the Old One.
That's what I thought at least.

As far as I remember, I think farming 4-2 is the better option. Kill the first reaper with your bow then run to the hidden passage and use firestorm on the dual wielding skelleton. Loot it (chance for pure bladestone!) and jump down the cliff. This should take much less than 1.5 minutes and give an equal amount of souls.

So, what do I do with all these boss souls I have? Can I just use them? I'm looking at this chart:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps3/file/954345/58355

...and I don't really understand it.

You can use them but some of them dont give you many souls just carry them with you to the npcs that do spells and weapons and new things will show up with the boss soul requirement next to it

like the towr knight soul is used for the spell warding? I think(total protection in the asian version I think)

Dunno if this helps lol hope it does

Edit: Lol waaayy beaten

That DW Skelly is tough as nail, It takes too long to kill him, no clue what firestorm is

I have been using soul arrow for the longest, it is easier for me to do 4-3, less risk

That skelly 1 shot's me, even though i'm SL 78, I even dodge his dual sword X motion stupid lunge

Reaper gives me 4.5k souls, takes 3 arrows (regular arrows) from him to die (compound bow +3)

Then I have to drag mr. skelly all the way to the base where mr. reaper was, and use the pillars to play hide and seek and kill him with spam of soul arrow
That is too long, and I don't have the the skills on my character to do this farming technique

Don't worry, you'll do fine in 4-3 :D Just use the stormruler with 2-hand grip for more damage & some accessories that give extra souls per kill. Keep some souls for sword repairs though. The sword will break after maybe 5 rounds in 4-3.

When I did 4-2 I would leave the skeleton out of it and either run back to start to die or use a miracle to evacuate. On my character now the reeper takes too many arrows so I drop down and use fire magic(the beginning one) I should probably add the skeleton into it if I keep doing that.

i just finished god of war 3.. and i started demon soul..

what a change of pace between each game ...

i just finished 1-1 ... i died 3 times - two were due to stupidity..

the 3rd time .. some soldier with red eyes 1 hit me killed me right away. :lol

but i am liking it very much .. love the mood of it

tbh either you go all the way or don't go at all.
:lol :lol Nooooo! Now I need to do it all from the beginning :(

I think I need to take classes in Demon Soul's 101, 102, 201, and 202 just to understand World Tendency + Character Tendency

It is pissing me off, no clue how to activate, what it takes to move it to one to the other (black to white or white to black for both things)

I know offline will help a lot, but I want to be on PSN due to people on my friend's list always asking me ?'s
(I'm like their go to guy on which games are good, trophy tips, etc.)

Simplified, killing bosses means a whiter world. Dying, while having a body, means blacker (so dying makes the game harder. Thanks for that O_o). As for character tendency, killing black phantom NPCs & doing nice things like quests makes you whiter. Being mean (ie killing basically every single NPC you come across) makes you black. Not that difficult :)

Alright, after loving monster hunter tri, I am convinced I can get my head around playing this game.

Can anyone point me to some good reading on thoroughly understanding the mechanics of this game?

So killing normal enemies doesn't make your world tendency whiter?

Action rpg

action elements pan out like this: combat is all about timing and learning enemy attacks you have a strong attack and weak attack and the animation changes on different weapons

you have left and right arm to equip shit to(l and r are mapped to left and right hand)

there's a jump back and roll ability

everything is in realtime lol dunno if some people are thrown by this

the rpg stuff goes:

you can upgrade individual stats they use souls which are exp and currency

Armor an weapons are upgraded and sometimes with multiple paths using stones n souls

those are the barebone mechanics right?

oh and there's npcs for learning new spells n shit

uhhh so yeah summation of mechanics I guess

Hope it helps

You're absolutely right. I can't believe I didn't catch that. I guess the color threw me off, as well as trying to dodge his claws, I didn't focus much on his face.

Thanks.

Any tips for farming Cloudstone Chunks? I was aiming for the platinum, but this upgrade trophy is driving me crazy..

Get pure black world tendency and go to 4-3 (Storm Ruler).

Make sure you pick up the Storm Ruler sword from the rock near the coast, equip it, and go in the little shack to the right. Hide in there and just keep attacking with that sword (it creates a large attack wave) at mantas. Equip the Ring of Avarice for a ton of souls as well.

YES!!!

I finished Assassins Creed 2 last night and started playing this. sidenote: I was surprised how much I enjoyed AC2 after hearing that AC1 was "boring" (never played that one, btw). Anyway, I can already tell I will be addicted to this game. I get obsessive compulsive about maxing all stats and finding rare/valuable items/equipment.

I have struggled a bit trying to get out of Soul mode or whatever it is. You really have to constantly look at your health meter! One thing that drives me crazy is that I keep using items by accident because I'm used to [] being attack on Oblivion. Every time, it's like "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUU-------------------!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There goes another half moon herb! >:("

Welcome to Boletaria, get the Cling Ring.

Just out of curiosity....why haven't all the eu peeped just ordered the now super cheap American version of demons souls? No region restrictions right?

edit: and yeah people in the us holding out should bite now unbelievable value at 40 bucks lol

Finally got this game and am enjoying it so far.

I'm sure this has been asked, but... I got my body back in the mines but I'm still stuck in soul mode. Is this a bug or is there something else I have to do?

Yep, retrieving your soul only brings you your souls (experience, currency etc) back.

You need to either defeat a boss or help someone defeat a boss online to go back to human form. Or use a Ephemeral Stone.

I really, really love this game. I got it at launch and never really had time for it. Now that my work/gaming load is lighter I'm getting into it pretty hard. Finished 1-1, 1-2, and 2-1 so far. Been tooling around in 3, 4, and 5 just kind of inching my way forward. This game defines emotional rollercoaster like nothing else. Moments of incredible satisfaction and gut-wrenching disappointment are everywhere, heck I feel that just being alive is satisfying. :lol I don't think I've ever played a game that makes you value your life so much.

Is there any way to determine how many people are playing on the server at any given time? It seems pretty spare these days. I'm considering getting the Japanese version if there's a significantly larger playerbase. I'm not encountering many black phantoms or blue eye stone signs. I take it the upcoming EU version will have it's own server as well?

Heh. 75% of your health is basically your "real" health for 90% of the game. That extra 25% is just a nice temporary bonus you get for doing something special.

or invade and kill another player, robbing him of his human form. or have someone use Resurrection on you.

many ways to gain your body back :)

Ehhhh having your body back means you both get 25% more health and free up that ring slot for something else totally awesome.

Also:

Soul Form=
-More damage
-Quieter footsteps/better stealth

Where can I find some chunks of Clearstone (and that other form of clearstone that isnt shards)? I've already mined the sparkling lizards in 2-2...where else can I find or buy some?
