Demon's Souls |OT2| Soulsuckingly brilliant RPG full of Demon's Crack

Besides those two areas,
1-4 will become available after 1-3, and then the final boss as well.

You probably found him but didn't
give the Blacksmith in 2-1 the Red Hot Demon's Soul (Flamelurker's soul) which opens him up to creating different weapon upgrade paths and making boss weapons from their souls

Oh wow, yeah i just beat flamelurker yesterday. I've been saving all those boss souls too

Blacksmith Ed already offers the different upgrade paths, the Flamelurker soul is only to unlock the boss soul weapons. But annoyingly you need like a +3 or +6 or so weapon to access the other upgrade paths.

I was wondering about the boss souls, guessed I missed that Blacksmith in 2-1 then because I didn't make anything with the boss souls I got on my first playthrough. Well there's always ng+ :p

Ive started Demon Souls again, 3 years ago I reached the Tower Knight and couldn't beat it, so I started again today and beat the sod first time. Im not really sure where to go from here (other than another world/area). The door after Tower Knight won't let me progress until i defeat and archdemon, and I can't seem to find anywhere else to go in the Palace despite being areas I can see I haven't been to (like the open field to the left if the starting point in the palace. Time to move to another area ?

I also haven't changed my armour or weapons yet, mainly because I haven't seen anything worth changing too, no spells or "miracles" yet either (I'm a knight). I have upgraded my sword and shield once so far. Am i doing it wrong ? I have bumped up my vitality and strength a bit. Whats the word on swords n armour, best found out and about or bought from NPC's ?
RL meant go to 2-1, as indeed there are more than several reasons why it makes sense to go there.

As an aside, although I really liked tower knight as an epic boss fight that got me hooked on souls games, exploring 2-2 was the killer...absolutely gripped me in a a way that left me unale to finish skyrim...the looping back abd forth with convoluted caves and tunnels was not easily replicated by even the other souls games let alone a separate developer, and put other exploration games to shame. They blew it outof the park for this aspect in Dark, and did a dent job of getting it back for bloodborne, but this area was my first expereience with it and had me hooked for life. All other area designs are evaluated on whether they can come close to the maze like confines of stonefang tunnel, and all other art designs with 3-2 in the tower of Latria. Fuck.Enjoy exploring these areas for the first time man..wish I could join you and see it again through fresh eyes.

Notwithstanding, you could go anywhere you wish realy, the armour and weapons you get from tougher areas is often better despite that generally, any upgraded armour or weapon will beat teh "best" stuff if it is not upgraded. The best weapons have cool movesets you like. My suggestion to you is try to think outside the box a bit and explore reas you thinka re too tough, even if its to suicde run to get items. These items will ofeten be awesome upgrades to what you already have at early stages....and will give you better options to choose from for the identity you wish to play as.

In think I'm approaching the end of the game. I have the shrine of storms 4-3 boss and 1-3 available to me. Every thing else I've beaten. I still feel like there's so much about the game i haven't explored. I used a club, bastard sword which i upgraded, a blessed mace, and the dragon bone sword. The only thing i upgraded the entire game was the bastard sword. Played mostly two handed, light armor, rolling around. Used a steel shield for some of the more cramped areas and for those rolling skeleton dudes in shrine of storms. Never used magic spells or miracles or whatever else. Never used any of these shards i have of dragonstone, soapstone, stickystone or whatever they are. Never even found an npc to use them with. I basically just upgraded endurance, vitality, and strength the entire game. Some parts were really hard because i couldn't use any projectiles other than some bolts now and then for flying enemies.

Am I close to the end?

I do agree with all I've heard about world tendecy. It's a cool idea, but it ultimately left me feeling like i had to deal with something out of my control. I can't save the dude in 3-1 because of the world tendecy keeping me from the key (i looked it up because i searched EVERYWHERE for that damn key)

Sometimes the wiki must be referenced in order to get to speed with stuff, and world tendency is one of them. It totally makes sense once you know what affects it and what to do. It is indeed very difficult to raise white tendency if you already killed the bosses. INvaders count so if htere s enough traffic, or if you can get a few fireds to invade you and allow you to kil tjem it ca be done. Obviousl it is better to know what you wnat to do before you do it and ensure you do white events offline immediately after killing the bosses. Lots of poeple simply recommend doign the world tendency stuff in NG+ or on a new character, but that aint me. I had to do as uch as I could on teh current run and deveised a way to check tendency events without spoiling too much about other stuff. To me this was the best way to experience my initial playthrough as I really hate missing stufff my first time through. Absolutely hated bloodborne for that...missed eileen quest and sent the wrong people to the wrong places missed covenants and the weapons I wanted as a resutl...pissed me right the fuck off. So even though some bish on world tendency, at least its stil;l possile to go back and do it despite it being hard. In bloodborne I ahd to start over a couple times to ensure my intial playthrough was rich enough lore wise. I know what they wre tryiong to so , but wanted to go full blind...last time I do that it would appear.

Ok so I think i have "done" world 2. Beat that
spider
boss, hunted around the mines for a bit, couldn't be bothered taking out all those heavily armoured bug things so didn't mess around in that area for too long (
met Patches tho, the dick
, ran back and went the other way, had lots of fun jumping down to the platforms, found the next boss, kinda felt like I cheesed it, hiding behind some bones sticking out the ground, the boss would kind of end up standing their, so I would stab him in the butt a couple of times, run around the bones until he did the same thing. Then I geared up for what appeared to be a bad mutha fight ...... ended up being a bit lame :( Killed it on first go, and finished it off like a pussy with my bow (Demons Souls has taught me never to take any chances). I assume thats the second world dealt with ? Although I will go back for that sword I saw at the last boss ....

Uhh, did you kill the dragon? If yes, world 2 is done so good job. Personally I fucking hated the dragon. Gave me such a hard time.

Yup he dead, I think I got lucky in that, he hit me a lot, leaving me with a tiny speck of health, but I had plenty of healing herbs to keep going. Back to Boletaria time :)

Guys, I need some help.

I am trying to get the platinum trophy, and I have been following the guide on wikidot or wherever. I think the guide misled me or something happened in NG+ (this is when I started following the guide) because NG+ started me with Pure Black World Tendency in NG+. I did not think much of it at the time, but now I am at the point of the guide where you should have Pure White World Tendency in each world.

The problem is that, even though I made sure to play offline and always in soul form, after killing the black phantom in 5-2 and all the bosses, I am still just shy of Pure White World Tendency. As such, I cannot get Istarelle to get all the weapons which is one of the trophies.

Is there anything I can do? I have already done the grinding for all the pure ores. I have 99% of the unique weapons, armor, spells and miracles. Is it all for nothing? I guess I would have to start over, grind for those ores again, etc? I am mega depressed.

Any help word be appreciated.

If you played World 5 in PBWT and killed the bosses and the Black Phantom, the World Tendency should be in White (not Pure White, they'are not the same thing) or +2 of a maximum of +3. Therefore, you need to reach NG++ and kill the Leechmonger to get PWWT.
Remember: the change in the WT occurs when you return to the Nexus only.

Sometimes ATLUS has made it such that there is an "all white or black tendency" week etc. This may have happened to you. You need to wait until that is over to do tendency stuff itf its an all black weekedn etc. ONce its over you can go onlime, get omeahde off white, kill two bosses, go offline to the nexus, return to the world and get istarelle.

It is also possible you made a mistake somewhere:

First, you have to go to the nexus and then return to the world in order that the tendency is changed. If there was some error on your part, like you accidently returned to online playfor eample, the only way to increase white tendency is to kill an invading black phantom. If indeed you killed astrea (you made no mention of her specifically, just htat you killed all of them) then you will have to go online, get someome to invade you, ask them to let you kill them, then go offline BEFORE returning to the nexus. You domnt have to play offline all the time, just prior to entering the nexus.

All that said if you cant get it to work this go around I do know that you must go through NG, NG+, and NG++ ot get the platinum as you will need to use the old monk boss soul three different ways. If you didnt do it right your 2nd and third paythrough you will need a fourth and so on. If so it takes very littel time to flip on over to world 5, clear out two bosses (one might be enough, but I like that level and once you do 5-2 you might as well o 5-3! ;) in one sweep, and get the istarelle, and move on to acquiring the proper weapons and miracles using the MOnk soul, and any others you still need to get..there are lots, and its easy to miss the one you need if you liek a certain spell that usees the soul you need to use for something else.

Got the platinum! Went to NG++, beat Leechmonger and I was at PWWT for world 5.

I did not realize this until now, but it appears that if you
let the Maiden live at the end of the game
, your next playthrough starts with almost pure white character tendency and PBWT for world 5. In contrast, if you
kill the Maiden at the end of the game
, your next playthrough you start out at pure black character tendency and almost PWWT for world 5.

This was such a chore, man, but I love Demon's Souls. I had to get the trophy!

I still don't understand the world tendency stuff even after looking at the wiki and beating the game :p
It's simple really - killing the bosses and special enemies (BPs, primeval demons) knocks you up to white, dying in human form takes you down to black.

Character tendency: Killing BPs/invaders takes you to white, killing NPCs/invading takes you to black.

Doing all the events for pure black and pure white character and world tendency in one playthrough is still a mindfuck to me though, I have to have a pen and paper by myself because I always forget to do something!

Damn well I kinda just played how I felt like playing.. might have to start a brand new character to get everything. I assume that door in the beginning of 1-1 (on the left side) is unlocked through world tendency? I couldn't figure out how to open it.

It is yeah, it will only open in either black or white tendency, with two different 'events' depending on which one. IIRC, it stays open for the rest of the playthrough though regardless of what your tendency changes to.

Job done, Old One back to sleep ;) Gotta say the game wasn't as hard as I thought, might be because I use damn near every Demon Soul I got and pumped out my stats, going through the other arch stones I was one shotting or near enough most of the enemies through them (at least in the early levels), and the bosses I took out first time without too much bother (get me hits in, retreat, heal if needed and repeat). Damn good game, but the entire first run of the game feels like a tutorial, New Game + seems to be when shit gets real.

It seemed harder at first to me because of the single archstones per level, so it makes dieing worse imo. But then when you learn the levels you can just sprint past a lot of enemies just like other soul games. I agree though, got my main character running on NG+, Shrine of Storms is a lot of fun. Stocking up on tons of high healing herbs makes it a lot easier too of course.

I'm still surprised at the online activity of such an old game. The other day I created a mage, and literally within about 3 seconds of putting a sign down I was summoned. Have gotten a few invasions and invaded a few worlds myself.

Yup learnt that the hard way, those 3 black phantoms (more specifically, the big shield one) is blocking my path :p

World 3 and 4 done, first boss of world 5 beat, but my god I hate Swamp levels so much :( This ones going to be a chore.

Thankfully, those guys don't respawn after you kill them. Don't worry, you'll be dying plenty of times though, when you get to the boss...

I wasn't a fan of world 5 either - 5-2 was a giant pain in the butt. 5-3 is stupidly easy though.

An old trick for helping through the swamp in 5-2 for any new players who didn't know, is to switch back and forth between two handing your weapon, it 'slows down' the stamina drain making it so you can run through the swamp longer without having to walk whilst your stamina regains. It's not much, but it's something! (Works in Dark Souls too in Blighttown, but they added in the rusted ring for that purpose).

Hey it's me again. Started playing this month after a longer break. I'm at 4-2 and I'm having a miserable time working my way through the this first part. I kill the ghost leader guy and move on to the skeletons. That's all fine. Then there are more ghosts that shoot lasers. Wtf?! I can't really do anything. I try to rush them and slice em up but to no greater success than one or two. I've been at this for two nights now. What gives?

I should note I've long long ago done the silly Patches part.

You can a) block the lasers with a decent magic-reduction shield (kind of guessing since I usually...) or b) roll through them.

4-2 is a pain in the ass though, I'm always glad to get it out of the way as soon as I can.

They're annoying. Use a shield; it's the only time in the game I used one, and I have no idea how I would have done it without it. Just be careful, and pay attention as you go down there.

4-2 is a pain because there is NO SHORTCUT on this level.

For the Ghosts you need a 100% Magic Reduction Shield, no other way around them. I used Garl Vinland's and they were easy with it. Or you can try to hack them down fast enough but I was not able to kill them in one combo (even 2H) unlike Mindflayers in Latria.

EDIT: IIRC you only need to kill two/ three of them before you encounter the 2nd "ghost leader guy". Try to get a 100% MR Shield and be fast when killing them. No other way I am afraid.

If you're fast enough, you can run past the lasers and get in their face before any touch you, then decimate them.

Yeah I got tired of trying my luck. Reluctantly used the wikidot guide to find a useful shield. Used the guide to find the Rune shield which has 60% magic resistance. That 100% magic shield mentioned few posts up seemed to be too much of a hassle as I don't recall running into the character who drops it (or is it an enemy?). I simply put that option aside as I am doing my best to play the game blind so it wouldn't occur to me to kill that character if I had not seen the guide.

Anyways, we'll give it a shot tomorrow with the Rune shield. Sick of spending half a dozen hours on what amounts to a few hundred meters of game distance.

I passed the area finally. Easy boss for such a torturous path.

Random question. You know the symbols for weapons that state blunt, slash, pierce attacks? What does the symbol all the way on the left mean? I couldn't find that answer anywhere. Like for example the Storm Ruler.

Edit: I've finished world 4. That means 2,3,4 are complete. The calm music of the nexus (Black Maiden theme I suppose) has now changed into a very creepy church organ tune. Jesus it is unsettling. It's my one place of solitude and now they wish to keep me miserable even here.

Wow. World 5 was amazing. I always see people complaining about it and yeah if you don't have the petals to heal poison and plague then tough luck. If you do though then it is simply a joy. Satisfying enemy combat, bosses that aren't too hard to figure out. That
Astrea fight was something else. I saw the snipers perch but thought that would be awfully lame to take out such a boss who seems to wish no harm upon me. Have some pride I thought to myself. So I wanted to snag some loot. Eh, those babies are like killer bees haha. Couple of deaths but a couple treasures snagged. So I finally decide to fight Garl Vinland but think to myself "hey I can pass him after he attacks and rush to Astrea. I took down about half her health before Garl came marching back to finish me off. Oh and Astrea seems to have some miracle attack herself. I found it curious she had a talk option. Could she really be as peaceful as her opening dialogue? This time I I don't BS anything. 1 on 1 with Garl. I have him down to half... Oops I rolled into the baby pool, dead. Let's do this again, same tactic. Double hand attack him after he strikes. This time success. "I have failed you Astrea". Aw, I feel so bad for these two. I work my way to Astrea wondering if I should ruthlessly kill her. Ah that talk option is available. You can hear her sadness that Vinland has died and she sees no point in fighting so she commits suicide but not without saying what she says in a tone that lets you know she is angry with the whole situation.
Kinda geeking out over this but it was probably my favorite moment so far. Wonder what that idiot back in the Nexus has to say about Astrea giving into the demon instead of "Umbasa-ing" until she would have perished. I mean she's an awesome character who helps the miserable. Uh, she was alleviating them of pain right? Or is she just an abusive person gobbling up souls and tricking the poor fools?

It's open to interpretation. She acts like a saint, but the shopkeeper at the swamp suggests otherwise...

The souls games always have some lying female character trying to fool you into thinking they are helpful and docile, Li

SHe is sitting on a pile of gold which must have been brought there by her "followers," and although the mobs are praying to her like she is a deity, when was the last time you met a benevolent deity that has to tell you she is nice while she takes all their gold? She gets to reap the souls of the dead aborted babies even, how magnanimous of her. I fed her with arrows from the ledge.

Whoa, there. I think you're being really unfair to some of those characters.
Priscilla sincerely just wanted to be left alone. She never attacks you until you attack her, and she sounds resigned and disappointed that the player couldn't leave the Painted World peacefully. When she dies, she questions you about how you couldn't see that her guardianship of the Painted World was important. Priscilla is good-hearted, but she's not afraid to defend herself when attacked.

The real Iosefka was truly a kind and selfless person. The "Iosefka" the player mostly interacts with is an imposter from the Church. The true Iosefka cared about her patients, but also had sympathy for the Hunter when most of the town didn't. Whenever you talk to her, you can tell she feels guilty about not being able to really help you. What's even sadder is that she ends up being experimented on by the imposter, turned into a monster and killed by the player. If you want good examples of deceptive Soulsborne characters, you're looking for ones like Adela and Alfred, and to some extent, Satsuki and Lautrec.

As for Astraea, I think her morality is a lot more complex than you're giving her credit for. I don't know how ya'll feel about VaatiVidya's Prepare to Cry series, but his video about Astraea and Garl make a good case for them having good intentions. What she says when attacked give the most insight to her motivation; she says:

This is our home.
We have done no harm to you.
Dear God, have mercy.
Is not your abandonment of us punishment enough?

It seems like she sincerely wants to help those trapped in the Valley of Defilement, whom she sees as abandoned by God and his institutions and thus needing her help. Her archstone even says:

Once a Sixth Saint, Astraea lived with those awaiting death in the Valley of Defilement. She pledged herself to a demon's Soul rather than a cruel God to ease the pain of the people there.

Plus, her and Garl are trapped in the Valley with nowhere to go; what use of they for gold? They probably just accept whatever gifts people give them, even if they have no use for them. Also, I don't think Astraea feels the need to be worshipped either; according to the cutscene introducing them, it seems that she is usually alone with Garl. The presence of her childhood friend is enough to emotionally sustain her, since soon after the player kills him, she kills herself after bitterly admonishing the player. It seems that both characters just want to live humble lives; the main trouble comes from the fact Astraea is using Demonic Powers to help those in the Valley.

Sorry, dont buy it in the least. I actually have a lot deeper appreciation of the Lore for these games than I let on in my first post, althgouh perhaps not in the way most do, because I firmly beleive there is no story in the souls series...it is all loose references and allusions to this or that and the real story is nowhere to be found because it really does not exist...nowhere, not even in the great mind of Miyazaki. They saved a lot of man hours doing this and a lot of money that they did not have, especially for Demons'. It also enabled creative minds to fill in the blanks and so that the fans could be the assistant developers they didnt want to pay.

I have heard all your points before....and although I have little time to indulge....you beat it out of me.....First, I was looking specifically at female lying bishes...Licia material not Lautrec and PAtches....all women are mysterious if not deceptive and elusive in soulsborne to some extent, even the maiden in black and emerald herald. One thing you may want to consider is the cultural context of Japan....many of the men do not treat the women with the same respect euro countries appear to, and although I cant prove it, I have long wondered if the male dominated staff at FROM are a little chauvanist and cynical of the power women have over men.......they really did break the mold with Lucatile and Eileen though, they could quite possibly be the most noble, pure and honest of female characters in souls borne, but they chose to portra thir mysterious ness by making them masked characters.

BUt no, not Priscilla the crossbreed who is half dragon for cripes sake! Priscilla? This is the serpent woman who carries the most deadly weapon in the game...it actually "hunts" life for her, then sucks it dry from the victim....how pleasant. The "people" she says are peaceful include a.) bonewheel skeletons that will cut your face up 100 times a second with spinning knives first and ask questions later. b.) the crow "people" whom enjoy jumping on your shoulders without provocation, shoving their crotch under your chin and engaging in plucking your eyes out with their beaks. "Peaceful" my ass, itys one of the most bloodthirsty areas to try to progress through in the whole series, let alone the game! ;p

My theory for her not attacking outright is that she like SIF (who just wants to be with his master again) is tired of being trapped in the world she is in and simply wants to die. Unlike Astrea who cowardly offs herself, Priscilla and SIF take the honourable route, by purposely "dogging" it in battle. Priscilla, who caries the highes
t unbuffed DPS weapon
in the game, and who can
turn invisible
for cripes sake, could off you in a second if that was her intent..she masquerades around leaving
footprints
to help you out, and if that isnt enough, she takes her
invisibility
away at the end to ensure you have a chance to off her in battle..She is throwing the fight so to speak, as this is the only true way she can escape the dungeon which is the painted world. She isnt peaceful at all and only spares your life because it facilitates her selfish wish to be seen as a noble martyr for her "people."

Astrea? I actually hate vaati's astrea opinions obviously....he was LTTP, I thought I was sure it was Silver mont who originally held the negative views on Astrea and garl and used every single item description and conversation stream in the world to arrive at his conclusions, like selen vinland and the venders in world 5. I read this in 2009 and was convinced and no one came close since....unfortunately, after trying for over an hour I cant find this gem of a video anywhere now, maybe it wasnt silver mont but it was someone with a british accent of some sort (not Vaati he is an OZ).....anyway.......Come on...you obviously dont watch politics. Fooling the Masses masterclass is "saying" you are here to help, but really you are after the friggin pile of GOLD that piles up! "It wasnt me it was the one armed man?!?!?" How magnanimous of her not only to take the gold, but also Demons' Souls which make her more powerful whiel the baby fetuses rot in a pool of peutrid pestilence and plague. Come on, she broke away from the church (which is protrayed as extremely obsequious in Demons more so that any other FROM game) to become a DEMON not some vigilante mother theresa (although I watched a documentary recently that changed my mind about how awesome mother theresa really is as well....not very....no one boils needles in her "clinic", why bother they are all dying anyway, as long as you submit to GOd you go to heaven reagardless, the sooner the better I guess?) In fact, there are many parallels to the mother theresa story and astrea now that I think of it....off to make my OWN lore video finding more proof that mother theresa and her fallibility was what FROM was going for with the astrea lore! Killing herself in true cowardly and Hitlerian fashion should be the final tip off she is no longer the saint she once was. edit: who am I fooling I have no time for this...but here is a link on criticisms of Mother Theresa.

Ioesfka was most certainly not at ANY time in my game anything but deceptive, if there was a real ioesfka, you never get to meet her and she was likley cut up by the imposter long before you come along.....you can see her face through a hole in the door right from the start of the game (or before the patches you could do the graveyard skip and see her standing there in full by coming in the back way) and its the same woman that cuts up aliens and tries to kill you in the end.....maybe there really was no "good" Ioefska? says ed Norton in Primal Fear to his defense attorney Richard Gere who just got him off a murder conviction by pleading multiple personality disorder (major spoiler ahead watch the movie Primal Fear before removing)
and Gere' s character really thought there were two personalities....it was all a farce as Nortons character was a psycopath and made up the "good" personality despite acting meek and humble stuttering his way through a majority of the movie.
That's what I love about these games, you can ttake what the characters say at face value...they all lie about who they are and what their true intentions are, and FROM helps them out with misleading item descriptions as well from time to time.

THe developers at FROM are geniuses more than most know, the parallels to ethics, religion(obsequious, Japan is not a particularly religious state), corruption, hypocracy, and moreover teaching their youth the most important lessons of all....the harder the struggle the higher the reward....brains over brawn....dex over strength.

They're aborted fetuses I believe, and they were always there. (It's terrifying to think that they could have been offerings.)

That's what I guessed they were, but I didn't know if there was an official lore about them for sure. Its such an eriie and atmospheric level, even being very small. Valley of Defilement is my favorite world for how much it sucks you in.

Whats the best way to farm those plague babies for stones? Just jump in with disease resistance and go to town? Usually they take awhile to drop so Im wondering if there is a better way, trying to get some of the world tendency benefits.

I'd say firebombs or range attacks. Going down there is suicide.

Yeah but then they just dive under the water where you can't hit them, or go right to the edge of wooden platforms/ground so you can't hit them with range or magic either. What I've found best is get pure black or white and grab the disease ring and a good weapon and just attack twice and back off and let them reappear, keep doing this cause if your stamina is low they'll wreck you quick.

I got about 20 stones now so I'm off to do some world tendency things!

If I ever want the loot in the dead baby swamp, I resign myself to the fact it's going to take 2-4 suicide runs and just do it. The archstone is closeby.

I've read your links, and already know beforehand what they were talking about, and they don't change a thing. You are being completely unfair to FROM. It's obvious that most of the characters in the Soulsborne games, even if they are antagonists, are supposed to invoke pity and sympathy and cause you to question what's right and wrong from what they say and how they're framed in context with their environment, other characters and the lore. There is a little sexism in some of the character designs (Gwynevere and Quelagg are pretty exploitative) and that the male PC is usually front and center, but FROM has been really good about keeping player interaction and armor gender neutral and crafting interesting, strong or just plain cool female characters, like the Darkmoon Knightess, Quelaana and Ciaran. They obviously don't want the player to think their female characters are bad people even if they sometimes do bad things or end up antagonists. Are you sure you aren't projecting?

She can't help being half-dragon, she was born that way. :/ And why does being a dragon automatically be grounds for being evil? Is it because they were enemies of Gwyn? If you see it from the other side, the Dragons were betrayed and unfairly massacred. And her Lifehunt scythe...is just her weapon. If you wanted to protect something even though you don't want to fight, you'd still pick a weapon that would do the best job possible against both humans and Gods. Her comment about the people being peaceful there is probably due to the fact that the denizens there likely don't attack her. The denizens of the Painted World were all sealed there because the Gods feared them; they wouldn't attack each other, so its natural Priscilla wouldn't think ill of them. They gain solidarity in being outcasts, so naturally she would see them positively. If she was really trying to trick the player, she would have set up things early. Gywndolin spreading the legend of the Chosen Undead is a great example of someone trying to guide your actions for their own benefit; Priscilla belatedly and naively trying to defend her people is not.

Also, even though the heroines in each game are a little morally grey, they come through in the end. MiB is a little creepy, but she only wants to seal the old one. True, Shanalotte lied about the cure for the curse, but she wanted to find someone who could destroy Nashandra. Just because they lied and are different from when they first appeared does not make them evil people. You are being completely unreasonable about these characters.

Sif wanted to protect Artorias grave and his memory; I don't think Sif has ever indicated that dying gloriously in battle was ever one of his goals. You only see him wanting to protect his master's grave in an area crawling with grave robbers and protecting you from the Abyss. Sif and Priscilla's goals are guardianship. And leaving footprints in the snow is...just something that happens when you step in snow, it's not an indication that Priscilla wants you to kill her. It was also likely included in the fight by FROM so you could work around her invisibility ability. You are totally making up stuff about the motivations of both these characters.

Astrea? I actually hate vaati's astrea opinions obviously....he was LTTP, I thought I was sure it was Silver mont who originally held the negative views on Astrea and garl and used every single item description and conversation stream in the world to arrive at his conclusions, like selen vinland and the venders in world 5. Like I said, Astrea and Garl are outcasts and they have no use for gold. Why have it pile up, other than the fact they have no place to put the meager gifts they receive out of thanks for their good work? Actually, looking at the in-game area, Astrea has only a few items of value around her; not much in the way of a massive pile of gold. Gifts from people who worship her because she is the one person who shows them kindness. The people of the VoD probably have very little to give her in the way of value, so why exploit them? Use your brain.

Suicide is cowardice? Your moral compass is askew. And of course killing herself puts her on the same level as monsters like Hitler and Theresa. She didn't create the Valley of Defilement and put the people there, the Church she forsook did that. With the death of her childhood friend, Astrea was clearly irrational and despairing.

Ioesfka was most certainly not at ANY time in my game anything but deceptive, if there was a real ioesfka, you never get to meet her and she was likley cut up by the imposter long before you come along.....

Actually, there are two voice actors for "Iosefka" in the credits of Bloodborne, one for the real, kindly Iosefka, (Jenny Funnel) and one for the Imposter Doctor. (Lucy Briggs-Owen) The real Iosefka is there for the first couple of times you talk to the door, it's the Choir member that asks you to bring people to the clinic. The fact that the hospital's policy changes from total quarantine to "now accepting patients" is pretty telling.

I can understand why people think Demons is the best of the series. Used to rate it far behind Dark Souls 1, then BB, then DS2, but it's almost tied now I think. Just hits every level right on the money with the atmosphere and I'm getting more and more absorbed into the story and have been playing it all the time recently. I hate being that guy but something was lost when they moved on to DS2, hopefully it comes back with DS3.

In New Game + I feel like a weak piece of shit. Its taking 4 swipes with my +5 Flame Long Sword to take out the basic grunt in area 5, I don't like this. Bumping up my stats, its kind of reached its peak, not getting any returns on strength or much else (at 35, points do nothing for my physical attack now, same with others). The sword does a combines 302 damage (151 physical, 151 flame), is it my weapon letting me down ? Is there anything that's similar but far better (I assume when upgraded) ? I feel like I should be a wrecking machine now but little bastard pawns are having their way with me :(

lol dude, the fire long sword has zero scaling with strength. You could have 12 strength or 50 strength and you'd do the same damage.

The thing with dragon weapons is that their damage is 100% static. Pumping stats won't ever increase the damage. They are really good early in the game because of that, and can work on builds where you simply gouge Vitality and carry you for a while, but they are soon useless, especially in NG+.

At 35 strength you can use any weapon that can be upgraded to "Crushing" (using Greystone), or the Dragon Bone Smasher, it's heavy but it's surprisingly fast and wrecks shit up pretty well. Depending on how high your dex is, you can also use a Quality-upgraded weapon.

I would suggest a Crushing or Quality claymore (depending on your stats). You can't go wrong with that, especially if you use Curse Weapon on it. If you absolutely want to use the same moveset, a Crushing Knight Sword could do the trick. Even if it's total attack rating seems lower than 302, it'll be all pure physical damage instead of being split between physical/flame which will actually translate into better damage (plus if you want a fire buff you can use turpentine on it).
