Destiny 2 without PvP, would it be worth it?

I'm not a PC gamer so I can't weigh in on the disadvantage of controller vs key/mouse, but you should be more than happy with the PvE content that Destiny 2 is sure to offer. From the first glance videos of the European Dead Zone, there will be hours upon hours of exploring available here. And that's nothing to say of the hours you can spend on the story, strikes and raid if you're into that.

The way I've always looked at Destiny is for full price on most games I'll get anywhere from 10-50 hours of content. Destiny vanilla just going through the story and strikes alone would get you 20 hrs or so and that's not including the raid, heroics, nightfalls, etc. where you can grind it out for the best gear. I think anyone looking to avoid PvP will be happy with what they get out of D2.

One could argue that in Destiny 1, a game with many flaws, its PVP was one of its worst offenders. So if you're interested in Destiny 2 just for PVE, go for it.

If no PvP meant more PvE content it would easily be worth it for me. Imagine how many more people would have stuck around had the initial pitch for the game actually panned out.

I hardly ever touched PvP in D1 and got my moneys worth multiple times over. Seeing as D2 seems to be a step forward in content I'm sure It'll be well worth it too.

PvE is the best part of Destiny imo, just make sure you have friends to play with or make friends in the game. Year 1 was Destiny's best PvP and I miss it so much.

It's completely essential. After the first few times through the pve content Destiny relies entirely on its pvp legs to carry it until the next content expansion. Pve is mostly grind (after the first few awesome times where you're still figuring out stuff and experiencing for the first time) that only makes sense because it feeds into the pvp via (hopefully) interesting loot.

I never felt this at all :3

Not even for the exotic weapon quests?

I skipped those as well. The game should have informed the player about PVP being a mandatory part of the quest before time was wasted on the preceding steps. I did get the Dark Drinker by cheating the system with the help of my friends, who just let me get the necessary amount of kills.

PvP is a blight on the game, so it would only improve things.

No more nerfs/buffs affecting PvE because PvP imbalance

No more forced competition for quests (so stupid)

Not wanting to deal with the PVP grind is part of the reason i'm not coming back for Destiny 2.

If Bungie FORCES players to do PvP by including it in quests or mission. I will be super pissed. In no way should a developer ever force it's playerbase to play a garbage mode within their game.

I'll trade in D2 immediately to get some money back, if they force players to do PvP. It's a bullshit ideology and practice.

Every time I play PvP I remember why I don't play PvP. I stink at it.

There's so much PvE stuff to do, PvP isn't really necessary if you're not into it.

Destiny 1's PvP was unmitigated trash. That's not a "hot take" or me being facetious, but despite that it comes from the people who made shooters popular on consoles, it's straight-bad.

The only time to do it was during Iron Banner, where the rewards for doing so were significant enough to justify a slog through some matches to get some good gear.

Granted, I haven't tried the PvP in the Destiny 2 beta. It could be better now. Previously however, it was a testament to how much netcode affects a PvP shooter - Destiny is rife with weird lag issues even on good connections, including people killing you after you've already gotten behind cover, and getting killed by a melee attack a full second (or more) after you've already killed them first. It makes for an incredibly frustrating experience.

It could've been okay had it used dedicated servers for everything and had netcode more like the original Titanfall or Overwatch (both of which feel very good, and only in extremely rare circumstances ever seem like they're cheating you out of something - this is part of the reason they have such a great feeling to them, is that you almost never think what happened shouldn't have been able to happen).

The other part is that Destiny 1's PvP was plagued with balance issues throughout its lifetime - and even worse, these balance issues included "fixes" that negatively impacted the PvE experience in just about every single circumstance. It led to a really frustrating experience to play the actually-good part of the game, only to have things be constantly nerfed because it was overperforming in PvP by 0.14%.

It was so bad in the first game the whole package would have been better off if it didn't even exist. It looks just as bad with Destiny 2, but there's still hope it won't ruin PvE as well like it did in the first game.

Completely disagree, sorry.

I just considered it a bonus to the main game.

Although Destiny 1 is one of the few shooters I was actually pretty decent in PvP, I still just don't enjoy it.
