The thing that works for Borderlands is it's lightheartedness and the meme factor of being Pop culture influenced (either they borrow jokes and infuse them into quests or they try to create something for the public to show off)
It's almost too much clutter for it's own good, if they would remove even 25% of it, game would be more enjoyable, there too much there to digest

Destiny on other hand streamlines the process
There are nice amount of weapons, but it isn't on the bazillion level scale
There is rarity involved, but guns go up tier wise, and the thing that sets them apart are the talents you can upgrade and the feature the guns offer, the same gun gotten twice might have different features
The game on the story side is broken into different sections of a meal
Main Story is the Meat, Strikes your Mashed Potatoes, Patrol your bread (too much carbs yo'!), and Raid your Desert
You have the options to choose where you start and how to finish up the meal
Game tries to stay within the Universe, does not to break the 4th wall by winking at the player through certain actions

So Destiny = Streamlined, Borderlands = Cluttered

This is really great. Thanks for this. I was becoming tired of people calling Destiny, Halo Borderlands.

i'm not. i mean, i expect me to play through the story and strikes in about that time. a few explore missions too. pve wont be huge, unless you consider the grind, weekly challenges, and raid(s). the meat of the game, for me, will be pvp. still, a game of this quality, for 20+ hours, is easily worth it and shouldnt be bitched about. i just fear the expectation is its a 100+ hour story slog

Sigh... I really am going to end up with two copies of this game to play with all my friends (digital on PS4, physical LE on Xbox One).

Life was so much easier and less expensive when everybody in my social circle just agreed on which console was better than the other.

I'm most eager to find out how Warlock resurrection works with the scoring system? Does it take the other person's kill away and subtract points or is it simple respawning in place?

Starting Monday, September 8 at 10:00 AM Pacific time (6:00 PM BST or Tuesday, 3:00 AM AEST), our reviewer Vince Ingenito will lead a host of other IGN staff to stream four hours of gameplay every day at that time until Friday, September 12. Here's my 55" Panny plasma among the rest of my setup. To the right of my couch I have my DS4 charging cradle that holds two DS4's for swapping out when the battery gets low. I plan on eventually replacing the 360 with an XB1, and putting a Wii U above that. Ignore the jester head on the wall, it belongs to my wife, don't ask because I don't know.

I don't think anyone is expecting it to be a 100+ hour story slog, not sure where you're getting that.

But yeah, I think the game is easily worth it in terms of content. The PvE longevity depends on how good the loot game is. No point in completing the Vault of Glass more than a couple times and the other strikes if you already have the best gear for your character.
