no matchmaking There is matchmaking. Just not on the harder content that would be a nightmare with pick-up groups with no voice comms. These tasks need voice coms and coordination. Time for you to be social in a social game and make some friends.

There's nothing fun about spamming people on forums to try and make a group for half of your available gaming time.

If I wanted to spent a ton of time trying to match up schedules I'd get a third job and get paid for it.

Do I really start with no abilities again? I'm level 20 now, but do I just keep fighting to level up those abilities? I still don't even have all of the abilities for my Voidwalker.

Also, there's another empty slot. Is there a second subclass that I've yet to find?

Farming for glimmer and spinmetal is great and all, but you get that just by playing the game. Granted not as quick as chest runs, but you get plenty while accomplishing other tasks.
What we need (yes, you too) is a way to farm Ascendant Energy and Ascendant Shards, which are needed to level up Legendary/Exotic Weapons/Gear.

For my legendary weapons for example, 3 of the 5 damage upgrades require 6 Ascendant Energy. So 24 needed for 1 weapon, for 2 weapons you would need 48, etc. I have 4 Energy and 3 Shards after many many hours of gameplay, including level 24 Raids.

According to the app, both are acquired from:
"Obtained from Raids, winning in the Crucible, and, rarely, from other sources in the world" (so helpful).

If it's a problem much longer you could try re-installing, or just remove/re download the update data if that's possible.

Yes you have to unlock all abilities again, yes you just keep fighting or doing bounties, anything that rewards xp, and that doesn't matter I maxed out void walker and then put all attention to my sunsinger.

No but I believe it's gunna be dlc.

Public events are the best way I know of. Too bad they are really tough to farm efficiently.

no voice chat There is voice chat. Just not the way you want it implemented. It would be nice for matchmaking chat, but Bungie was probably scared of the CoD kiddies trolling people. I'm sure Bungie is evaluating the decision and can change things if they deem necessary,

no NPCs acknowledging your race lol.

all the meaningless jargon constantly coming from your ghost... would you prefer him to be silent? If I had a random flying robot companion with me 24 hours a day, I would hope he would say meaningless stuff every now and again to make small talk. Not everything has to be of utmost importance to the current situation.

I go back and forth over the voice chat thing. Sometimes I think it would be really handy to be able to speak quickly to someone I see in the game but I honestly think that ultimately, I really don't want to hear the inane shit coming from most people's mouths. I think a big change that is needed is to make chat available in fireteams created through matchmaking. I would like to speak to the people I'm doing strikes with about what's next or how long I have until respawn, but I don't necessarily want to have to add them as friends or anything.

And as far as the game not acknowledging race, I don't care. They do acknowledge my class though and that's all I really care about.

I also love hearing Tyrion.

And I finally made it to level 24 last night! I doubt I'll level up enough to reach 26 by tomorrow so I'll probably be sitting this first raid out. The only legendary stuff I've gotten so far is for a Hunter class so at least I'll be doing alright when I start a new character.

So if a guy has a blue shield he is weak to Arc? Or is it just the shield?

Edit: Also, some enemies have yellow health bars and when I shoot them I get an "Immune" sign. That basically means hes too strong for mr to fight now, right?

Yup. I was legit shocked when they announced it before launch, as it seemed like the majority of GAF was all "this makes sense" "good decision" etc.

For me, with some MMO experience, it seemed like a clearly bad decision to not allow pub raid matchmaking.
