Raid bosses should have guaranteed loot drops, give people some shards or motes of light.

What should I be saving my glimmer for?

There really isn't much to buy with glimmer, you can rank up cryptarch but that takes a lot of glimmer depending on your rank.

*nod* Continuously get into the habit of, after you finish something, immediately choose your next destination. Handle your inventory and check immediate goals on the way. all the loading sucks, but you can get into a decent rhythm

I mean it just reset 5 hours ago or so, so you can't be at cap yet, right?

Oh yeah, of course not. I did like two Crucible matches and called it a day because reset happened during the evening for me.

I should be able to hit rank 2 in both while capping this week.

Supposedly you can get some minor loot. We'll have to see what happens after the first teams clear the Raid.

Not gonna lie, you shouldn't have to clear a Raid to get loot at all. Considering this is a Raid, every boss encounter should drop a guaranteed purple for everyone's respective class or dish out a bunch of Marks so people can buy Legendary Gear.

So, what is the "most efficient" way to be playing the game after level 20?,

I have been grinding crucible ranks, and jumping between two different factions which seem to be a waste of time as I haven't yet specialized on 1 faction/ rank. Should I only be focusing on one rank at a time "aka dead orbit", max that rank out for its gear, and then move onto another (crucible ranking, etc)??

That would make sense. There should be a goal for the Raid and not just clearing it.

If they added actual social facilities common to MMOs then it'd be fine even without matchmaking. Other than that, everything you listed are pretty common staples of raiding and this game won't change that.

Well, I don't play (nor like) MMOs and Bungie promised that Destiny wasn't an MMO, but a shared world shooter. I expected more assistance for being able to play everything the game offers. A lot of people don't have time to sit on forums and find people when there are only a few hours or so to game. Also, as an introvert I sometimes want to just get on and play something challenging without socializing, because by the end of the day I'm drained.

Even if I give Bungie the benefit of the doubt on Raid (you need to communicate, blah blah) - why disable matchmaking on weekly heroic, nightfall and daily?

Why?

Why?

That's what frustrates me the most about this game. I can forgive not getting good loot after 20 some hours, but being locked away from playlists because I didn't socialize is just dumb.

Just keep decoding shit. Also, you get cool bonuses for leveling up.

I get the level rewards but the dude never makes anything better than level 1-2 is that right. I am rank 8 with him. But his stuff is still 0 level items. Oh and 1 1 level item. Everything about this game is so...skewed weird ha.

play strikes/crucible for blues and lucky legendary drops, while in the meantime raise your rep for whichever faction you want to get gear from.

Honestly? Cap your marks, do the daily bounties, daily mission, weekly strike, and log off.

Speaking of factions, is there a guide somewhere for what faction is most worthwhile? Any opinions on this?

I just look at their gear and weapons. I main a Warlock, so I stick with Discipline and Intelligence. Therefore, Future War Cult is what I'd max out eventually. I'm focusing on Vanguard at the moment though since I like its weapon choice better.

Depends on what spec you will play. Vanguard/Crucible is overall gear while the factions specialize in certain attributes for armor. For example I play defender Titan so I went with New Monarchy because their gear focuses on strength and intellect

Me and my friend are both willing to give it a go. Gunslinger hunter and Defender titan both level 26.

What's your gamertag? Maybe we can at least get 3 more for tonight.

Yeah, I never see him sell anything better than green or white.

Got it. Thanks both.

What are the different "Daily" things we can do?
I know there's the Daily Story Mission but is there anything else?

Daily Crucible event that gives more rewards then the others?
Daily reward for completing a Public Event (I seem to remember this from the Beta)?

So what's the reception of the raid so far?

Some folks were thinking the raid would make or break the game. Some folks also said we should wait until the raid to get a complete opinion on the game, which didn't make sense to me, but I'm still curious.

I'm not the OP, but I've been farming for about 10 hours, and I don't have a single piece of Legendary gear. I'm debating on three strategies:
1. Start farming for marks instead of engrams to buy what I need. (basically starting over)
2. Make a Titan since I already have two Legendary pieces for this character that doesn't exist yet. (basically starting over)
3. Quit until they change something. Drops can still be random, but higher level Activities and Cryptarch should be weighted with better ratios.

BTW...Level 24 for the last four days.

wait, I can create new characters and give them items from another character. how?

How is 1 starting over? You weren't doing anything but farming? Surely your reputation isn't 0...

Also, did you see my previous reply to you in regards to Crucible drops?

How does the shoulder tackle activate on Titans? I swear I'll be running at full speed with Storm Fist charged up and it'll come out maybe a third of the time.

What do you want me to tell you? The loot mechanics in the game are idiotic.

that one is right, you get some rare materials and marks for your first one each day. the crucible thing, seems to rotate more than daily? dunno

Gotta keep pressing forward on the stick as you hit r1. Also wears off after awhile, so do it quickly when the blur effect starts.

ALL I NEED IS ONE SODDING POST MORTEM KILL

I've even changed my build so my Super and grenade last longer and I've been trying to suicide FoH control points with no luck ;_;

Then I can get another Legendary and call it a day. Bungie pls, do me a solid.

I recently did the Bounty where you have to Melee 30 people without dying. I decided to challenge myself and see if I could do 30 consecutive and it was hilariously easy. I was actually laughing out loud, maniacally, as I just ran up to a group of 4 alien guys and punched them all in the face one by one.

Indeed. Personally, I don't mind getting marks and rep to buy legendary gear. My biggest issue has to be with doing Strikes since you fight one boss who doesn't drop a specific piece of gear. Also, I think gaining marks from Strikes is kinda...useless since the time vs effort thing is a problem there. It's honestly better to do Patrols and bullshit around Earth.

This is my biggest problem right now too. I'm sure Bungie has to be aware this is an issue.

I don't think people want Legendaries to be easier to obtain. Just don't show us a Purple Engram and make it turn Blue. Bungie trollin'

The fact that it's better to grind on Patrols than do level 24 strikes is a clear failure on the part of Bungie.

Hmmmm how many marks do patrols get you?

I have no life.

Hey man, I could IM you but I'll just say it here: I don't think I'll be able to raid tonight due to me still being 24 (about to hit 25 since I got my first piece of Legendary armor).

Also from what I hear, being level 26 makes a huge difference and level 25s are eaten alive. I'd rather not risk it IMO.

Agreed, and they should add rep and marks to the 20+ story mission difficulties as well.
