So last night, I had a great night. Had a huge glass of scotch to start, which gave me a nice smooth buzz. Afterwards, proceeded to get 2 legendary weapons (pulse rifle - my main weapon yay!) and a rocket launcher, both from engrams. Then, after turning in some bounties, got my first exotic bounty, chose the Pulse Rifle one again. It was either that or the hand cannon or shotgun, and i don't use hand cannons or shotguns, so whatevs. I'm really excited about it though!

Afterwards, got a random invite from a level 25 titan, and he queued us for the weekly heroic, and we managed to 2 man the thing with only 1 wipe due to adds on the boss. Coincidentally, this met the requirements for the first part of my exotic bounty which was double awesome. Then we ran like 3 strikes from the Wolf playlist which is also part of my exotic bounty. Also, due to the Weekly Strike, I was able to get over the 13 Strange Coin threshold for the vendor when he arrives tomorrow, and I've got enough motes of light for the engram, provided he is still selling one. Can't wait to play some more!

I 100% believe that they'll up the level cap and introduce a few new factions once the next DLC is due out. I'm guessing that's what you'll need level 4+ for.

For example downstairs in the hanger past the Dead Orbit vendor there's an empty desk just sitting there. Why is it there? Who is it for? My guess is another faction leader.

There's rumored to be 3 more factions
Osiris
FOTC
and Seven Seraphs

....I might have to sign up for the Seven Seraphs... considering my name lol

Played my first crucible game on control. Joined a game where my team was behind. We won and I came top with a 2.0 k/d ratio, got a legendary engram. It was an exotic rocket launcher called truth. I love the crucible.

technically if you don't like PvP or get mad at it easily, you can just AFK in it.

You will get kicked for inactivity after some time though. But I don't know what exactly the game registers as player activity. A wiggle with your sticks here and there and you'd be fine?
Not that I'd approve of doing this though.

Got my first two purple engrams last night. One from Crucible and one from the level 24 Strike.

Got these from them. I get the feeling from reading everyone else's posts they may be the last two Purples I get.

Enjoy the Cryptic Dragon, it's an amazing gun! I have mine leveled except for the last damage upgrades (need ascendant energy grrr).

It has amazing accuracy, range, and the explosive rounds are so satisfying. Precision kills cause enemies to explode, creating a blast radius and damaging in an area. Hnnng.

Skywatch or Temple of Crota entrance. Use the consumables that boost your glimmer bonus for different enemy types.

After farming at all the previously mentioned spots I'd say 100% skywatch cave. You get quite a lot of blues, don't need to kill yourself and a public event happens right there every 15 minutes or so.

If you just want to level up weapons/armor/subclass and get engrams it's the best spot by far.
Thanks!

It's a shame that destiny has turned into a farming spot game, makes me wish that rewards or drops should be tire to objective completion.

The completely RNG of engrams is also annoying, I don't want the easy way out but the only real goal to time towards is vanguard ranking to buy purple gear from npc's

Getting exotic bounties is RNG, getting anything is RNG, there is nothing to work towards really. Bosses hardly drop anything worth a damn you might as fell farm low level mobs in a cave or play PvP, it's terrible and unexciting.

Exactly. I don't know if I ever want to bother with a raid after reading the first impressions. Seems like its not fun at all and it seems the only things you should really do to try and advance is some bounties, farming low level areas like Skywatch and being terrible in pvp

There should be more diversified Bountys which yield loot instead of only EP and Rep. Something like the exotic bounties, but for legendarys, rares, glimmer, mats or whatever. It would really change things for good.

If I had any photoshop skills I would've photoshopped a Warlock/TItan/Hunter helmet on some stock picture of a stereotypical farmer such a long time ago already. Just putting the idea out there.

And make it the new OT banner.

For the strike mission on the moon with the giant zombie monster thing - whatever the shit is named I can't remember - does anyone have recommendations for "safe" spots? I've found spots for the other bosses where they can't do jack to me if I need to rest, but I'm still running around like a crazy man on the moon strike.

That's why people have moved on to getting rep and marks because that way you are guarunteed legendaries.

Ok, I didn't know where to put this so I'll post it here. I am looking for a quick summary on how some of you guys are playing Destiny. I am at lvl 19 and have mostly been playing PvE as a Titan.

There is a lot to do and the game doesn't really show/tell you about all of the options you have Armor/Weapons/Abilities. I've found I usually just come across them when it says I level up or upgraded an armor or ability.
A lot of people on here seem like they know what to do. I for one would just like more options to personalize my armor/ghost/asthetics for my Guardian and Ghost. Is there even a way to do that? I think I have to get over level 20 or something like that for my Guardian to even start to resemble something I am proud of.

I want to get to know Destiny, but it seems like they make it really hard for someone not familiar with an MMO type universe? Am I doing it wrong? Pointers/Hints...

I think this guide is pretty good?

Pretty much, though I'm not surprised to see it evolve into that. Ultimately, even if the solution is to grind out rep and marks, you're going to end up buying the loot. In a loot game.

Got to level 8 mostly from playing control, or whatever the 'capture the flag' mode is called. It's serious fun. It's weird, most of the people I'm matched with are in the 20+ level range, but I'm trying hard to keep up and it's not too bad. I can still get kills and a decent amount of points from stealing zones.

One of my favorite things to do is go kamikaze in a group of enemies and jump up in the air and throw my supercharged grenades for a megakill. It's so satisfying when I pull it off.

If you're in a 3 man fireteam, all 3 should spread out instead of getting bundled up in a spot. Did that last night and for the last half of Phogoth's health, no adds spawned at all. Might have just been luck but it worked much better than what we were doing before.

I find that the pillar farthest from the door on the other side of the room is a good place to hide behind. If you are standing on the lowered platform at the back facing the boss, go up the stairs to your left and it is the first pillar you will see.

Be careful, a ship will fly in and drop enemies on that lower platform, and a wizard tends to spawn above you once or twice.

I've got a Legendary Engram for a Secondary Weapon!

Wish me luck, guys...

Let's make a betting pool.

I'm saying 3 ascendant energy.

I'm sorry, I'm still feeling the pain of my 5 legendaries from yesterday all turning into ascendant energy/motes of light.

Is it just me, or is the Crucible the best way to go about getting gear and rep/money in a way that doesn't require farming? I feel like you can do more Crucible matches in the same amount of time it would take 2-3 people to do a strike, thus giving you more chances at loot - but also building up crucible rep/money faster than vanguard. Or is this all in my head...

It is, but I just sometimes get so frustrated with the Crucible. Lately, it seems like Warlocks kill me in one melee hit, legendary shotguns have long ass range, matches lag due to pvp, sometimes bullets don't register, and just general fuckery. I really want to love it, but I with so many random elements my performance is all over the board.

Anyone? This is kicking my ass solo.

I would if I wasn't at work. Do you play in the evening?

I know this is going to get lost in the sea of posts but w/e.

For Rumble, is it possible to not allow players to start with Special ammo and have the boxes spawn in every minute or so? Every Rumble match I've played consisted of Shotguns, Fusion Rifles, melees, and supers. While melees can't be controlled, supers can be better earned instead of being handed down on high because you got a shotgun spree. Just a suggestion.

As of now, we have to deal with everything.

At least you had 5 legendaries. I've only had 4 purple engrams in 30+ hours.

On another note, doesn't Deej post on GAF? Would be nice to hear from some Bungie guys.

Got another exotic weapon bounty, with the same set of 3 options as last time...

Went for the pulse rifle this time as I did the shotgun last time. I doubt I will be too impressed as it only has 15 bullets in the round but I don't really use hand guns.

It will be fun to see what it turns out.

That is so badass, I am jealous. And I already have the Helm of Inmost light for my Titan lol.

What are the skills on it?

I'll have to check later as I'm at work now. I've put it in the storage ready for when I start my titan. Unless I can check it from the app?

There's no doing it wrong, really. There are so many ways to advance your character. Just go with what you enjoy the most. Once you hit 20 and start getting your +light gear, you should start to see better equipment overall.

Haven't been able to play for a while, going to try to get on tonight.

Whats the best way to get some gear now? I've been stuck at 24 since day 2.

level 20 doesn't mean a lot other than you've killed the shit out of some dregs, has nothing to with being too slow if you take a throwing knife to the face 30 yards away, don't know this perk you're speaking of enlighten me, yes you can be killed in the air, many times play more.

there is a perk that increses youre damage resistance when you use youre super as a titan.

Im crucible rank 3 thank you, I played a lot and have a ~3k/d.
Played titan and hunter with all abilities unlocked, that was the point of the "lvl 20".

Yes a titan can be killed mid air when using his super but its incredible rare because they take a lot more damage just like the huter when bladedancing.
That and nothing else was my point if you argue that titan-smash is ok because he can be killed in the animation then bladedance is too.

Imo both times the extra health is too much because it basically gives you free kills.

Well at least all that ascendant energy will be useful when you finally get a legendary...

I finally unlocked Legendary crap last night so I will soon be feeling the pain many of you have been feeling for awhile now. It's nice to commiserate.

P.S. Destiny |OT4| None of us are even having fun

I remember reading something that was data mined about a crucible game mode that played like the arena in hearthstone? You turn in strange coins to get in and the more you win the more loot you can get? If
You lose 3 times you are out.

Am I crazy does anyone else remember this?
