Just got this from a blue Engram...

Legendary engrams are still turning to crap items, as usual.
Wait, you're complaining about getting a Legendary from a blue engram?! I've liked your posts in this thread, but it might be time to take a step back for a moment. That AR is really quite good, especially once you start upgrading it. When you compare the stats to your current weapon, is your current weapon fully upgraded? This would be important to note, if so.
I have that, its pretty good.
I, too, have been rocking this AR. I received it rather early on in my light level adventures and have it completely ready to be fully upgraded, I just need the mats for the last tree. It's rate of fire is a little below the Shingens and it does kick just a little bit, but I've been using it to great effect in PvP.

Here's a video of me getting six kills in a row with it.
How many Titan Defenders use Weapons of Light? When is it the most viable and a better option compared to the other options?
I haven't unlocked it yet, but I could see it being very useful in the heroic strikes. According to the strategy guide, it gives a 25% boost to weapon damage, 35% if you also have Relentless equipped.

Am I only one who thinks it's amusing that Crucible is "competitive" multiplayer?

How something can be competitive when it has;

  • No balance of any sort between weapons, not even within weapon class
  • Super powers that grant basically god mode for duration of cast and/or use
  • From these supers few are just "Spam attack, auto aim does rest" -button smashers where all are button smasher
  • Constant lag, hit detection, player warping etc. issues thanks to P2P hosting
  • Not so good map design for most part [Bastion, Blind Watch...]

Don't get me wrong. Crucible is good fun as casual PvP brawler, but competitive that requires skill? Meh

Well.. calling something "competitive" doesn't mean that it is.

PVP is so bad that it's almost funny.

do i basically just "keep playing" after 20 and then the gear i get will have light that will do the leveling for me? is that right?

Basically, yeah. Your level beyond 20 is determined by your total Light rating, which is a stat only found on high level gear. A few pages back Hawkian posted a chart that shows what the Light breakpoints are for post-20 levels.

I share your thoughts. But keeping it from being competitive is only point 4. Netcode/P2P Hosting is really horrible. Play 30 seconds and you can tell who's hosting.

Everything else is the same for everyone, so yeah, it could be competive. Just don't get mad if you get killed from a Super/Shotgun/FusionRifle. I know it's extremely bad design if you empty 2 clips of MG Ammo into a bladedancer with his super activated, only to get decapitated right after. Or if a nova bomb hits th ground miles away from you, but you still die.

All the liar-talk from Bungie before ("At Level 20 you sure can do sth against super"... or -has nothing to do with MP, but it's my favourite "Everything you see in the distance, you can walk up to and explore"...ha..ha...) makes it feel bad to me personally. But when you get used to being killed every other minute from a super, you'll don't care anymore.

Kill trading is another cheap way out. But it's Bungie, they just can't do better.

When Xur shows up I will have enough motes of light to gamble an engram but not enough coins to purchase any weapons or armor. I just know that when I buy the engram it will be for another class.

Decisions.

People need to stop the bullshit and saying shit like people expecting a purple to become a purple are entilted and it's designed that way to stop people gearing fast.

You know what would fix that problem? Make the Purples very rare but always at least purple rather than making purples rare that almost always turn blue. It's misleading and disappinting finally finding a purple engram either via drop or PVP reward only for it to turn into a blue that is worse than what you have. It's soul crushing when that happens 10+ times in a row.

To solve it and keep your precious balance and longevity of GOAT Destiny how about just making purple drops even rarer than they are now (matching it to the rate of purple actually being a purple and not a blue) and making them always a purp at least while keeping blues as they are now. That way things would be pretty much unchanged except you'd have a lot less unhappy and disappointed people finally getting a purple engram and expecting something cool and getting fuck all.

I'm with Hawkian on this one. As in I quite like the lottery aspect of Engrams but think it was a massive mistake to tier them by rarity. They should have just called them "Engrams", not color-coded them like the items themselves and made the percentages as to what tier of rarity you might get out of them clearer to players. Additionally, an Engram obtained by a high level player should never get them a green item.

Edited original post to make my "estimate" more clearer and that it's just my observation Here is that edit;

My only basis for P2P claim is 155 Crucible matches and observing game performance [lag, hit detection...]. It's not constant and gives few good with no issues and few shit ones with obvious issues. If game uses dedicated servers then something is seriously fucked if 24/1 ADSL connection can't provide me with constantly same/good performance.

Morning guys, the more I read this thread the more I realize that Destiny is screwing me out of loot. Hate being a complainer, but just sucks seeing a game I love not treating me with love and caress.

I already have 2 purples of another class, I can't be that unlucky

or can I

I'm fine with getting Strange Coins and Motes of Light from Legendary Engrams, but the Green/Blue gear needs to go.

I also got my first actual Legendary from a Legendary Engram today, some nice new boots. I'm about 1/8 so far when it comes to getting actual Legendary gear from these Engrams.

It's essentially typically MMO PVP, there is inbalances and there is a distinct gear advantage. You also have a level advantage at play in Destiny since lowbie player in Crucible comes in with no flexibility and only basic grenade ability unlocked, while other players are all upgraded geared and have more abilities at their disposal.

Skill only matters so much, but there is definite advantages other players have, especially with gear. It's sad how the game pushes you to pvp early on when you have shit gear and no abilities unlocked almost and your going up against players fully decked out in crazy upgraded gear, and have all kinds of abilities.

IEverything else is the same for everyone, so yeah, it could be competive. .

Only the level of weapons is normalized and brought in line, all the upgrades, and weapons are not. A player with some legendary super accurate weapon has a distinct advantage over a player who has a crappy green or blue rifle with not as much accuracy. The weapons are not equal, and time invested upgrades also make the weapons different and in cases better than others. So things are not equal

Me and my friends attempted the Vault of Glass night and damn is that hard. All of us were Lvl 26+ but the weapons we had were as useful as a chocolate teapot. I highly recommend attempting the vault with Legendary or higher weapons that have been upgraded quite a bit.

Engrams are lotteries. Just stop farming and get marks the normal way.

BTW, how do you get exotic bounties? Or is that just RNG bullcrap too? :p

Appears to be. I have done quite a lot of them (no PvP bounties but nearly every PvE bounty that's come up) and just got my first one today.

You get exotic bounties after turning in regular bounties whenever RNGesus feels he's ready to bestow you with them :)

I now have a legendary chest and boots and a ton of exotic weapons. I'm also in GAF NA East 1 (as I should be since I was one of the first).

Things are going well. I should be able to do the raid by saturday when I have time.

Also, isn't it time for OT4|RNGesus died for our sins?

If you want Destiny PvP to be really competitive you have to remove every stat on armors and weapons from PvP.

Weapons will have same stat as other weapons in that kind.

The PvP will be something like .....um...... Halo !!

Anyone try the Level 28 weekly story as a Level 26?

Doable?

Also it seems you can continue past Vanguard level 3 but no vendors require 4...yet. Working on New monarchy now.
