Destiny |OT40| Killed by the Architects

haha yeah we were feeling good vibrations so decided to get it while the getting was good. I only have account info for one more DGAFer and he was playing Destiny at the time so your number got called. Honestly it worked out totally fine, having the optimal build isn't nearly as important as basic teamwork.

And sorry about your Yasmin (RIP raid sniper). I was a little desperate to get that light level up. On the bright side, the 1kYS is better for PvP and PvE imo so hopefully it's not too much of a bother until you get another Yasmin drop. Next week is Warpriest Challenge so that'd give you good odds to land another one. And with the new higher light gear you'll start getting all higher light drops now which is nice.

Thanks dude! It would be fun to stream if possible. I'll give it a trial run sometime to see if my internet cooperates. There have been lots of hype moments with all these virgin runs, sharing them on stream would have been cool.

You have a regular team to run Trials with, right? That's the main thing I always tell people, if possible. Helps so much to learn each other's play styles, develop the communication and synergy. Other than that it's mostly luck to match beatable teams once you hit 7-0. Then it's just about not over thinking or stressing too much, playing those last games like any other game.

My PvP comfort level has its own sine wave, especially after balance patches. My main suggestion would be: make sure your subclass and weapon loadout fit your personality. I've messed with Nightstalker, using Mida or Hawksaw, etc. But I always come back to Bladedancer with Doctrine+1kYS+Truth. I like to think and move quickly which I can't do on other subclasses. Titan speed isn't the same although Striker is my second fave. I need a sniper for long range picks when playing passively, then Doctrine for pushing aggressively to run people down and deny revives. I'd love to use TLW but it's too inconsistent for me. Anyway, just some food for thought.

Hey drizz i dont know if you still running or not. But my wife really wants to.play trials. Sje is a gaf member but never posted lol

Unfortunately im not near good enough to help her.

Blue goes up to 320.

You can't really hit a wall at 313. Any of the end game activity (CoE, Raid, IB) + nightfall will pull you closer to 335 (Make sure you have highest light level gear equipped before claiming the rewards.)

Strike specific drops will also work.

The Imago "Fakebringer" Loop.

Blues drop upto 320 at challenge of elders end screen. Plus class items. Ghosts and exotic secondaries that can drop up to 335.

If you need help running it let me know

Thanks guys! After the reset I plan to run heroic strikes/ NF and COE and that should rank me up.

In terms of running stuff, I would actually really appreciate it if someone could help me run through Cult of the worm and Machine Wrath. They are prison of elders varients that I havent played through yet. Skolas revenge was really good so I am hesitant to overlook them.

PSN is bobs_99 if people do fancy it!

People who use Twilight Garrison, what control scheme do you use? It feels awkward as heck on default for me.
I still can't believe bumper jumper isn't the default control scheme in the game. Default feels so off once you get used to having control over your air movement.

Go bumper. It'll suck (actually you will suck :p) hard for a few days but then you'll be a better player and never look back.

Last time I tried Bumper Jumper was in Halo 3. Could not get used to it. I'll give it a shot again.

Bumper Jumper really that good? Guess I will give it a try.

Bumper jumper helps a lot where you wouldn't expect it to

Vertical movement is huge in Destiny. Bumper Jumper means you can move, aim, ADS, shoot, melee and if need be grenade, *all* without ever lifting a finger.

The trade off is trivia, supering & crouching now require moving your thumb.

So, yeah, it's transformational & powerful.

It *will* take time, but if you think Destiny feels good now, it feels sooo much better, more fluid, more responsive.

Bumper jumper is basically all upside with no downside (besides the struggle while getting used to it). You'll definitely waste your super a few times and melee thin air a bunch of times by inadvertently clicking L3. But once you adjust after a few weeks you'll never go back. I didn't switch until after playing ~1500 hours on Default, so don't let the transition pains deter you.

I recommend hammering L1/LB while running around the Tower to really ingrain the new jump button's feeling. Keep your right thumb far away from the X/A button. Practice rotating the camera while in midair, e.g. jump over the purple ball while keeping it in your field of view.

edit: fwiw Twilight Garrison and shadestep both need Scuf/Elite controller paddles to take full advantage.

For sure! As for all the usual questions: Has she played much Trials before? Ever gone flawless? How many passage coins does she have? What times during the weekend does she usually play?

This week is not great for newer players due to rotating maps. But definitely next week, whenever we can find time to schedule it. We'll give it our best shot!

What's the average delay between live gameplay and a Twitch stream?

Would it be viable, considering this delay, for someone to spectate via Twitch and "coach" a team via party chat? Telling them to push or fall back or get a res etc :p

Thanks for the trip to Mercury, Drizz, X and Igor! Now I just need to practice so I can start getting there on my own.

Probably not I don't think. But the team chat of the twitch streamers would be the most valuable thing. They are talking out overall strategies etc...that would be of some value I would guess.

This sounds like a good idea.

Still need a 3rd for trials bounties.

The skill gap in this game makes it so that top players are so far removed from most of their Trials opponents that you don't learn much from their plays. They make it look too easy. You see Lumi on Frontier just hop to roof using his Bones and keep falling off / jumping back on. He Pulse Rifles a guy down, wombos the other than lands with a shotty on the third's face.

It looks super cool and you might think you just learned a new angle but really it's not something you'll easily replicate :p

I think the best learning comes from watching great but not top10 players.

^ edit: yeah definitely agree about watching very best players. Tbh I fall asleep anytime I watch Murdaro stream. Partly cause Sunsinger is boring as hell but also every game I've seen looked way too easy. It's not super relevant for most players.

Afaik Twitch delays are at least ~45 seconds. I could be pulling that out of thin air, but even 10 sec would be too much for something like this.

I know pro Halo teams have legit coaches who are generally older players. Go to the tourneys with them and help discuss strategy in real time, between matches etc.

My response wasn't about learning, it was about the OP's question on whether viewing a twitch stream live would help you 'cheat' to know what the other team was up to.
