Campaign first. I always enjoy the process of going through the story but there's also a tendency for the Campaign to be cleared to get certain things. Open up classes, fill certain gear slots, that kind of stuff.

I definitely wanna beat the campaign and unlock all the subclasses before I really focus on getting one character raid-ready.
I like the D2 PvP a lot more than I expected to as well so I will probably be killing a lot of time there.
Purchased one just now and we're already PSN friends.
Also, I was inspired by the Reddit post about purchasing Pop Tarts from Target.com and having them shipped to a food bank. Should have enough XP boosts to level three characters now.

That's a huge difference. My Titan was female, in D1, because I liked the look of it. Guess I'm doing that again.

I tried finding a good address for a Houston-based Food Bank to accept deliveries and couldn't come up with anything, so I had them shipped to a local one.

Hmm, Male Titan not big enough. I want to dwarf The Mountain.
I originally started with a female Titan in D1 and she was my main for about 6 months, but I ended up regretting it because some armor looked TOO slim on her and awkward. For example, No Backup Plans looked too small on a female Titan to me.
For me, female Hunter 100%. Warlock I am unsure which I'll go this time.
I'll be importing my D1 male Exo Titan and female Awoken Hunter at least. Maybe I'll go female Exo Warlock because female Exo's seem the most rare.

I am actually looking forward to gluttonizing my first box of Pop Tarts in years (making Wed. a cheat day) but I'll send out a few to local food banks too, specially because it looks like Irma may have us in her sights here....

Staring down the barrel of another 1000+ hours of my life is a weird feeling when you think about it.
I spent 1200+ hours in Destiny 1. I prefer seeing it in hours, there's an abstraction there. But it's also 53 days, which I can grok a whole lot more easily and wow. WOW! Like, what would my life be like if I had spent those 53 days on something productive or creative? I'd be lying if there hasn't been some anxiety about that number and I've seen it in my friends too. Several people I know are skipping D2 for that reason.
I actually took a break from video games this summer. Thinking, oh, I'd paint more. I'd work on breadbaking. I did wind up reading & watching movies more, but I didn't paint or bake really. Because I was absolutely exhausted. Lately, life's been good (2 young kids), but it's been tiring (2 young kids). Video games are a way to relax. And they're a way to spend time with friends.
Another thing is that part of me becoming a socialist recently is realizing that I am more than my productivity. And that not everything in my life has to be about efficiency and utility. It's okay to waste time. It's okay to spend time with friends and not have anything to show for it besides a good time.
So I'm back with D2, because D2 is friends. And I'm glad Bungie knows that and is putting that as a central pillar. And I'm back because Bungie continues to want Destiny to be real life compatible.
Ironically, rather than steal creative drive, Destiny has given me opportunities to be creative. To paint (1,2,3,4) and make new friends and make a goddamn 2 volume book of the grimoire. It's what spurred to learn to code in Python with my friends. And work on my writing and start a blog. Destiny has been good for me!
I'm trying to be less hard on myself (like with feeling I needed to be productive all the time) and to be more aware of my needs (friends, relaxation, solving problems in a game is easier than real life and is satisfying).
It's a processssss!
I hope everyone's gonna come back. Destiny 2 looks great. But at the end of the day, everyone's gotta do you, so in closing, some Mr. Rogers wisdom (I'm sure Dr. Drizzay would approve).

Last day of work as someone who hasn't lost their light. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank DGAF for the last couple of years. I joined NeoGAF because I saw how vibrant this community was. Sure, I don't chime in as much as I would like. But watching everyone here enjoy the game as much as I was has been a wonderful experience.

Engrams lose much of their value for the long stretch of time between light increases. Before you could at least keep them in your vault as their LL would keep increasing to the cap. This also undermines engrams on alt characters. The old system let you vault those engrams for decryption on your highest LL character.
Would be neat if engram LL was set to the highest possible LL on your account instead of just character class. This way a near useless hunter alt can be power leveled by your classy erudite Warlock main.

Doesn't it actually now enable/support this in another way?
I.e., engrams acquired on your highest level character and thus having their power set on acquisition can be given to your lower level characters with the knowledge they will be substantial upgrades for them?
So you can't use your alts to more quickly boost your main but you can much more easily use your main to boost your alts. At least in theory

It seems like one of the better options I've heard thus far. It works on a couple levels, too. It's obviously the first mission of the game, but it's also bringing back a lot of estranged DGAF members.

Any of you folks double-dipping on PS4 and PC? I'm definitely in for PC, but PS4 was my home console for D1 and I'm definitely feeling a bit burned by that 2 month wait...
I also would love to avoid buying DLCs and expansions twice in the future; definitely don't want to do that.

As a final farewell to D1, I was thinking of doing one last raid. Either Kings or WotM Hard Mode. Though I really want to do Kings, a bunch of rusty players doing the jumping seems fun.
We're thinking 9 AM EST on Saturday. Should be a good time for EU players to. It'd be 3 pm for Germany.

I've got a free copy of the PC version but PS4 is still going to be my primary. I'll use the PC version for some PvP and screwing around.
I'm trying to resist the urge to buy the PC version since I'll be playing on PS4 with some RL friends, but that PC beta was amazing so I'm struggling. If my friends have lost interest in D2 by the PC launch I'll probably go ahead and pick it up.
