Same thing happened to LA in the Finals last year. I feel no sympathy for Detroit. I hope they get swept :lol

i like how a piston going crazy over a foul call automatically means it wasn't a foul. take for instance late in the 3rd. ginobli drives to the hole, goes for a layup and the ball as well as ginoblis entire arm is slapped to hell and back by rasheed wallace. a foul is called. wallace goes nuts and just lays on the ground as if it weren't a foul. how is that not a foul? are you people whining about BS fouls actually watching the play, or watching the players reactions?

p.s. i still say spurs in 5

So who was laughing at me for saying the Suns were the 2nd best team in the NBA? They would have taken any team from the east, the Spurs will just do it much more eaisly.

I suspect the same!

Would purists actually prefer a defensive, low-scoring match to a fast-paced, offensive one?

Man the way the Spurs are playing now it looks they would have been spankin the Heat.... either way I'm glad to see it's the Pistons getting spanked... and the Pistons whining about the refs.... Hey has 'Sheed made another... we will not lose Game 3 decree yet? Outclassed, out talented, out scored and running out of time.

Go Spurs!

I wasn't laughing at you. I completely agree. Heck I think a healthy Sonics team would have beat the East teams too.

I gotta say though, I love how Bowen's offense consists of running to the corners behind the 3pt line and standing there for 24 seconds :lol. One of the questions at the press conference was how he has the energy on offense when he expends so much on Defense. All he does it run to the corners and sit there.

During the play by play last night I heard Al Michaels say that Manu was the 2nd-to-last player drafted in the NBA draft? That just sounds unbelievable to me. If so he must be the greatest steal of all time in sports history.

Eminem

goddamit, Griese!
yeah, that's true.

In the 1999 NBA Draft, the Spurs selected Ginobili late in the second round with the 57th overall pick, the penultimate choice in the entire draft.

steal is beyond an understatement.

jesus, that second round is beyond awful. cripes.

the first round ain't much better. The top 10 is stacked with names (Brand, Baron, Lamar, Rip...) but beyond that its all shit. Usually you will get some solid players in the mid to late 1st round, but besides Ron Artest and Kirelenko, the rest of the 1st round is garbage. Most of those guys probably aren't even in the league anymore.

the reason manu wasn't drafted earlier is because san antonio had already acquired the rights to him preceeding the draft thereby locking him up and allowing the spurs to spend their first round pick on a "gamble". tactics such as those employed by the spurs in numerous years to lock up overseas phenoms are unchecked in today's current CBA and will be looked at very closely during negotations in the next CBA.

he would have been a top 10 pick had the spurs not dipped below the radar.

Source...

I have never heard this mentioned before, you think it would at least be mentioned...

it's been mentioned, hence my mention. i'm consumed with the mj trial right now, so i'll dig through google later on to find the source.

You're wrong LS. The whole "draft rights" thing involves drafting a player, while allowing him to play elsewhere before bringing him aboard the team. Manu was drafted in '99 (or rather, his "draft rights" were secured) yet he was allowed to develop overseas before being brought over in '02-'03 for his "rookie" season. The same thing will happen next season when they bring in their 56th pick from the 2002 draft, power forward Luis Scola (who won gold with Manu last summer). Once an overseas player's draft rights have been secured, no other team is allowed to make an offer for him until the completion of his rookie contract. I think you're confusing that with him somehow being locked in as exclusively available to the Spurs in the draft. He was exclusively available to the Spurs after being drafted and before he officially joined the team, but not before being drafted, if that makes any sense.

You ARE the new Konex.

You need to ditch the Sonics and use your powers of misfortune against Michael Jordan and Tom Brady! I will send you the requisite Air Jordans and Patriots jersey. Konex only used his power for evil, you can use it for good now.

Anyone else see the article about Duncan being a gamer?

I love video games, as do many in my generation. One of those people happens to be the best basketball player on the planet, Duncan. He plays online as often as he can. He doesn't play basketball video games. He says he's a PlayStation 2 guy, because he can't bring the Xbox on the road. He loved Metal Gear Solid 1, kind of liked MGS 2 and didn't really like MGS 3. After playing an early version of the PlayStation Portable, Duncan put in a bulk order so the entire team could use the wi-fi feature and play against each other on team flights.

BREAKING NEWS: Duncan gifted the PSPs to the Pistons to take their focus off the Finals!

Duncan's spare time consists of two things: 1.) Videogames and 2.) Paint-ball. Hell, the dude even built his own paintball complex in his backyard.
