Deus Ex: Mankind Divided |OT| We Asked For This

Shame to see all the bad reviews on Steam. The story doesn't hit the same notes as before but the world is the best it's ever been, second only to DX1. Maybe not even second.

Does having the cops
kill Drahomir
affect Foxiest of Hounds trophy?
Foxiest is only lost if you trigger any alarms (alarm panel, camera, etc) so it shouldn't matter. An easy way to check if you goofed up or not is to see if the alarm tutorial pops up when you trigger an alarm as it appears on your first alarm. No idea if failing a hack counts as an alarm as I always reloaded to be sure.

IF you mean pacifist and not foxiest of the hounds then I would say it doesn't ruin the trophy. There is a side quest later that results in an indirect kill or two depending on certain decisions (probably) and I still got pacifist trophy at the end of the game.

It is possible to
nonlethally take out the checkpoint without letting the police officer kill Drahomir. There is a little side path inside the checkpoint and at one point a thug will be close enough to take down from cover there
. I threw a box to draw the other one in and then just took the other two out as they were facing away from each other.

Edit: 5 hours late but maybe its still helpful.

Huh. I haven't had to hand over my papers more than once per station... weird.

Only time I had to do it more than once is if I entered the train through the 'Naturals only' side and the cop gives you some attitude about using the 'Augs' side only. Mankind divided indeed.

Man Prague is too big for its own good. I have already 10+ hours, explored everything, found every praxis kit and did every quest apart from the main one and I have already almost everything unlocked what I want (only missing electro immunity and maybe smart vision and icarus dash - that's it). The new augments are also somewhat lackluster for a stealth oriented character. I haven't tested icarus dash yet, but that seems the only one that does anything and even that is probably unnecessary once you have cloak + jump, similar to remote hacking which seems unnecessary.

I'm actually already somewhat burned out, so I'm glad I can finally move on and do the main mission for a change.

Also, the new weapon upgrade system is a bummer (again). Stun Gun and Tranq Rifle can only be upgraded to increase magazine captivity, which is totally unnecessary for both, since they already have a somewhat big magazine from the get go and you don't really need to shoot more than once anyway.

Does anyone know what the FOV is on ps4? Im really digging the game but its giving me a brutal headache its bumming me out. I might have to stop playing it. I wish all ps4 games had a FOV slider. The new Doom on ps4 has one and it makes the game comfortable for me to play.

So I always laughed at how the game relies on Adam's eyebrows for his emoting during scenes where his glasses were up (ie, 95% of the game), but has more normal expressions when his shades are retracted.

Well, after a video call to Sarif, the game forgot to reapply his sunglasses, and until reloaded a save I was greeted with this during regular conversations

That's actually kind of cool that they emoted his entire face, even though he normally wears his glasses there.

Can you still get foxiest if you load prior to setting off an alarm? I just started NG+ and screwed up on one of the locked panels in Jensen's apartment building. I don't feel like restarting, but I also want to avoid save scumming.

Did you already do it? If so, the objective is marked as checked in your mission list. Sarif is researching stuff for you and will contact you later on in the game. Also, an hour to get to the apartment, really?
Feck man that's what it is, grr, I'm an idiot, just a bit weird missions telling you to do stuff you've already done. I thought it was supposed to be another Sharif side mission, my bad, thanks for the clarification, appreciated
Lol, yep, forgot I had to take the train, I really should stop taking week breaks between gaming sessions :)

I'm actually enjoying the banter between Adam and the polices. It's like Adam is trying to tease the police most of the time.

Gotcha, makes sense. It is weird how that side mission just chills in your missions list when there's nothing you can do to continue it until he calls you back. There's a couple like that, so just make sure to confirm whether or not there are any unchecked objectives. :)

Just downloaded the latest patch for PS4, and I'm still experiencing the game breaking bug at the subway. Tomorrow's like my only day off in a while I'll actually get to meaningfully play this game, I think I'm just going to restart and go the violent route this time.

Thanks for going into so much detail. I still have the alarm notification show up when cops find me or I fail a hack so I think I'm still eligible for the achievement. Fingers crossed

Damnit, I like Adam (even if they do relatively little with his character), but I sure do miss JC.

Combed Palisades Bank for every bit of loot it had.

Interesting and fun level.

Yeah its crazy how many of the story mission levels are absolutely massive but if you go for the stealth + no kills (or even minimal attacks) method you end up skipping like 50%+ of it. Reminds me a bit of Hitman, but Hitman is so beautifully designed to replay levels over and over and over whereas DX:MD goes out of its way to discourage you replaying stuff. I pretty much ended up tranq'ing every single guard in every level and that was the only way I could explore each level and find everything, I don't know how someone on a stealth run could do it.

Really bummed at how the trophies are set up, I ended up with 71/75 e-books in my run and there is no way for me to go and pick up just the missing 4. I'd have to replay the entire game, make the "correct" choices that has the 4 e-books I am missing, all the while still re-picking up every e-book. Screw that, that is just TERRIBLE game design. I'll just do a blitz stealth run and call it a day, not even gonna bother with breach and Nightmare mode.

I enjoyed the game but a lot of it just never really felt right, like it was a game set in a different universe than the one from past (and future!) Deus Ex games. None of the themes in the game resonated well or seemed to be expressed that competently, and many of the supporting characters were almost as boring as Adam or just had tiny fragments of "hey wait... whats going on..." in info-links that never got anywhere in the game.

I wonder if Mafia 3 and Watchdogs 2 are going to suffer the same problems :(

So... Mission 11 spoilers.

Allison or the Bank?
I'm leaning the first, because I'm interested in
The Church of the machine God
... But I know I'll lose valuable Intel if I do that.

Decisions, decisions...

From what I understand, the main outcome of the second option
is an antidote for the orchid virus which you can use to save a character later on
. The first option gives Adam
a signal jammer to jam some kind of bomb
. I would recommend the second option
as the reward from the first option is useless if you do both objectives fast enough as well as using the antidote you got from the bank
.

This is mainly based on the outcomes and not in terms of the lore that the respective missions may explore. I chose the first option and I would have preferred to have chosen the second option. Plus, I thought the
Church of the MachineGod was a little dull. Ignoring the outcomes, VersaLife seems a little more interesting as it feels more in line with the whole Illuminati thing of the series. Purely speculation as I have no idea how interesting the vault actually is
.

Hope that helps.

Edit:
Man I'm not sure if I missed this earlier in the game but I just loaded up my save after not playing for a week, I'm still early in the game, but wherever I walk the lighting just flickers and shadows disappear. WTF? I'm on PS4 by the way

Here is a video I just uploaded for it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnaxPebsXfo
I play on PC but found this.
https://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/142234-deus-ex-mankind-divided/74232772

Beat the game tonight. Was able to
save everyone but Miller at the end because I opted to save the bomb maker instead of rob the bank.
I wish I could've
saved Miller and done the bank heist
, but that's what second playthroughs are for :)

Can someone tell me if there's a way to still
save everyone without going to get the jamming device from the bomb maker
?

Loved the game overall, but the ending was slightly abrupt. I mean, i knew it was coming, but that
recap cutscene with Eliza just telling you the outcomes was kind've lame
.

This is definitely my game of the year so far though. Even though the ending was slightly jarring, the rest of the game was top notch, especially the side quests. I can't wait for the next game!

Is it bad that in this game I am getting tired of stealth and failures pretty fast and just say fuck it and blast dudes away? I never did that in HR but I am totally okay with it in this game. Maybe because I am not enjoying it that much as I wanted.

I just tranq'd him in the head to stagger him and then followed up with a nonlethal takedown. It might've been because I hit him several times over and over again with the tranq rifle in the head at the start to see if that would work. Spoilers: It didn't.

I think you can save everyone if you rescue the delegates first and then go to Marchenko immediately helpful. If you do it faster then Marchenko won't know you saved the delegates and won't detonate the explosives prior to the fight. The 'best' ending is definitely saving Miller and then saving everyone as the jammer is not required to prevent the detonation, just a fail-safe I guess.

I'm stunned that I somehow only got 21 Breach codes and 59 eBooks, considering how exhaustingly comprehensive I thought I'd been.

What exactly is the New Game+?

I can confirm that you can take down Marchenko first (at least using the killswitch), then run and save the delegates. I tried it after finishing the game and going back to an earlier save.

You retain all your augmentations, inventory, and I THINK anything stored in the wall storage in Adam's apartment. Sadly, ebooks do not carry over. Difficulty is equal to or less than the difficulty you completed the game on, I believe. For example, I completed it on Give Me Deus Ex or whatever and I am therefore unable to do NG+ on "I didn't ask for this".

Honestly, I haven't had as strong of a desire to replay Mankind Divided as I did with Human Revolution. I think the loading screen separating Prague bothers me the most consider how often side quests require you to use the train to get to the other side. I'll be playing it on "I didn't ask for this" for the challenge and Steam cheev but that's about it for now. Maybe I'll revisit it after playing all the two DLCs.

I've been hesitant to really dig into NG+ as well, I'm kind of spent after 50 hours but also the supporting cast and narrative isn't as great.

Mission 13 question:
Any intel worth looking for in GARM? It's getting a little tedious trying to explore every nook and cranny in the facility.

It does if you use enough, I was sitting on a stockpile of nearly 200 tranq rounds and
ended up dumping about 20 into his head, which eventually took him down. The stairwell off to the left side with some laser tripwires was a great spot to hang out and hit him while he's in the center of the room. It's possible to stunlock him and turn his head into a pincushion. I was actually right at my threshold for deciding that it was taking too long and that I would just run up to do a takedown when the cutscene triggered.

So I was travelling back to Jensen's appartment and I stumble upon a dead named civilian. Felice Ullmann. Kinda curious how that happened, I haven't fucked around in Prague yet, does the game apply some sort of random incidents with confrontations between police and civilians?

Only found one myself:
In the infirmary there's a schematic of an aug (prosthetic arm?). If you pick it up it comes up in a conversation later, not sure if it does more. The infirmary is in the same room where those dudes are doing running/jumping drills over walls.

Sub Zero

Heard that you can go into a debate with

Just beat the game earlier.

After reading the horror stories about the ending, I expected much worse than this. I'm actually quite content with the ending. It's a good bridge for the next Deus Ex game.

Overall, I'm totally satisfied with MD. It's been a while since a video game rewards me greatly for exploration. You could actually miss important parts of the story if you missed some of the side quests. And the side quests are pretty easy to miss if you're not too fond of exploring. You can also make your own 'missions' by robbing some of the heavily guarded places in Prague, which you won't be doing if you're only following the main missions.

Also, I don't get the hate on microtransactions in this game. Praxis is very plentiful in this game compared to HR. I remember that I had to buy praxis kits every now and then to upgrade my augs. But in MD, I never buy a single praxis kit from the merchant, and I'm sitting at 60k credits before the point of no return. Credits is also useless in MD, I never need to buy anything because everything I need I got them for free. I have 2 slots of biocells in the last mission and I practically stealthing the whole mission by chugging out the biocells.

I was enjoying pretty much every moment of this game, until I got back from the GARM facility. I don't have any problem jumping between North and South Prague normally, but martial law makes the entire experience a huge pain in the ass and it feels like a waste of time.

Tip: get the stealth aug.

The question about the experimental augs and who installed them are answered
it was illuminati who did it in the one year he was in coma, they also planned Jensen's recruitment into TF29 and it is also mentioned in conversation that both his recruitment and the new augs are tied. The Tai Yong scientist who died carried out the experiments, you can find further confirmation in the Tai Yong vault that you can access using the key card found on the dead scientist. Why they were hoping to gain from it remains to be seen that is what Sarif meant when he said "you have to find out yourself"...not "you have to find out yourself who did it".

This was so stupid. It felt like they had to cut content towards the end of the game and decided to pad the 3rd act of the main quest with this crap.

Yeah pretty much. My guess is that they wanted to make use of all that space and level design they built for some action gameplay, which is why they littered the area with hostiles, but it did get a bit tedious. I just decided to spend a bit of time and clear some pathways, stowing the bodies in various nooks and crannies in case they ever went on patrols (they don't though) to clear up some pathways. At that point I didn't care about the running around so much as having to keep going through load screens over and over again. It wouldn't have been as bad if there were more NPC side missions to do in those areas so you could stack up a few missions to complete in one region before moving on to the next. I loved every other part of the game, but that part was a bit of a slog.

Read my post above.

Pretty sure the poster isn't referring to the mystery of the story as much as to the way the game ferried you back and forth over load zones constantly while stringing you along with only one quest at a time. This is opposed to how the quests were doled out throughout the rest of the game during which several could be completed in one zone before moving onto another batch elsewhere.

The Missing Link suffered from similar problems. It's an issue the devs themselves acknowledged in the Director's Cut so I don't know why they did the same here.
