Has there ever been a company in this industry that dug themselves into an incredibly deep hole, looked around, and went, "Nah. Not deep enough"?

Your stocks are tanking? Double down on all the same stupidity that got you here in the first place. Brilliant!

At least Xbox realized it was time to call it quits and figure out how to climb out.

I mean, just fucking show up and say "yup I identify as a woman today!". Problem solved. Who's gonna argue?

Ubisoft was recently downgraded in the France market lol. Their stock is almost at their all time low back in 2011. LGBTQBBQ folks arent the main customer base. Ubisoft needs to start appealing to their main customer base like before. DEI is a death sentence.

How can you lack this much self-awareness? Just get the best people for the job...like, how is this hard?

It's a little disingenuous to think just because they're trying to be inclusive to less representative to groups through mentorship means that they want nothing to do with men at all. They're just growing the potential talent pool unless you think everyone outside men are just shit at working on games. They've had men at Ubi all the time the haters have been shitting on them anyways, so I really doubt any of that will make a difference. Either way, I'd rather judge the results of a game rather than the steps getting people into the industry to make them.

Seriously, this seems like a really ridiculous and tone deaf thing to spend resources on, at a time when the stock price is cratering, and Star Wars Outlaws is underperforming amid criticism of its uglified and de-feminized heroine.

After all this, aren't males technically being discriminated against and the under-represented gender?
I guess this doesn’t count as discrimination because it’s not a job, it pays nothing and you’re not working on an actual Ubisoft product.

But yeah if anything it seems like queer/nonbinary folks are vastly over-represented in the gaming industry.

Exposing the sinister cartel of retailers who allow companies to pay for advertising space.
Ubisoft is still stuck in 2020 when the management mantra was that diversity drives performance, boosts quality and leads to more employee satisfaction. It's all nonsense. The only thing that makes companies perform better is hiring the people best qualified for the job instead of making that decision based on sexual preference, sex or ethnicity.

What do you have to do to prove you're non-binary?
Can you just say you are and not change a thing? ha!

I'd just say i'm non-binary, and then after getting the job I'd start identifying as a straight male.

Someone needs a a dictionary. I'll help:

exclusive: restricted or limited to the person, group, or area concerned, or excluding or not admitting other things

inclusive: not excluding any of the parties or groups involved in something

How about a mentorship program for young formed students of ALL genders and races... and the acceptance is based on their proficiency in college and not what they have between their legs or what crazy gender they think they are this week ?

Microsoft should have made a similar announcement instead of 'going dark'.
Reminds me of EA making all that noise about supporting marriage equality just coincidentally at the same time they were getting shit for Mass Effect 3’s ending and won the “worst company in America” award.

This is one of the reasons western games have gone down the drain. This obcession about hiring ppl based on they gender, sexuality and race, instead of talent.
Good thing the console game scene has opened to more Asian countries.

Nobodies getting hired.

Its a mentorship program.

I have zero problem with this, and no one really should. We need more diverse voices in gaming and providing training will make the quality of work better.

If you're a male, just put your application in as a female and profit. If anyone asks, you're both. Congrats on being non-binary, ma'am.

Explain how this is different if you would be so kind.

Their own listing requires that to be eligible you must:
  • Be legally entitled to work in the country where you are applying
I get that they say its not a job, but that's a strange requirement for something that isn't a job in my opinion. And let's be real. Just getting a foot in the door to a big company can be tough. An opportunity to be mentored is quite possibly a great way to get a job afterwards.

They've been dead to me since the PS4 era. Not even talking about identity politics, every single game feels like it was designed by committee to tick a bunch of boxes on a checklist. Completely soulless, cookie-cutter MTX-riddled dreck.
Recently I’ve played Mario and Rabbids, the first one at a heavy discount and Prince of Persia, the new Metroidy one. Neither are soulless but neither will keep a company that size afloat. I’ve zero interest in far cry or ass creed so it’s easy to cut them out, just like they think it’s easy to cut people like me out. Problem for them is I can play games elsewhere they aren’t finding money from other demographics
