Post DMC1 Vergil won't make it into a game until at least DMC5.

He would be coming in with a re-design. He's gone through too much shit to come back as pretty boy DMC3 Vergil.

Hope they don't hit him with the ugly stick.

I like his current look since it reminds of Meier Link from Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust.

I'm sure most thought it already but at this point it's obvious his cutscenes will be Nero related.

Hehe, I was thinking and wishing too much that it is after DMC 1 so it will be officially confirmed that he came back from Hell.

Got a question. If DMC5 will be made, do you think they will bring back Vergil?

Also, are you guys able to check the Twitter link I sent? If it is not working, let me know so I can correct it.

He is such a fan favorite, i don't see why they would not bring him back if we get a proper sequel and not some spin off or reboot.

Yup, I don't think they are bringing him back for kicks with new mechanics. Same for Lady and Trish.

A multi-character future seems like the plan.

Nice. Thanks for giving me the confidence.

Dante and Vergil are both my favorite DMC characters. Actually, I like them all.

Hopefully yes, so we'll finally leave years of speculationS behind. My only concern is we won't know how the Order got the Yamato.

We need a badass time skipped white-bearded Vergil.

DMC5 Vergil should look similar to the Makoto Tsuchibayashi DMC1 Vergil, with influences from whatever redesign they give Dante. Just give him longer hair, as I just recently noticed that he has a small ponytail. It's easier to see in this fan art of it:

Compare with this.

If that's not enough, give him a cloak and a mask to make his appearance mysterious and we're green to go.

Never was Wahlgren in DMC 4 to begin with. It was Laura Napoli, who also did Kyrie. I think they just had her voice match Wahlgren to the best of her ability.

I forgot. I remember now there used to be a lot of confusion surrounding her VA.

Agreed, though I don't expect him to come back scarred or ugly or anything.

Vergil should come back looking like his pretty boy self, just aged similarly to Dante. The Sparda kids have healing factors that would make Wolverine and Deadpool feel inadequate, he shouldn't really come back with scars or anything.

If they are making DMC5 then Vergil is coming back.

Book it.

Scars would be from the Nelo Angelo armor due to the corruption. Sort of like the scars on his face in his LDK costume in DMC3.

Yeah, I'm not sure Yamato will be addressed, unfortunately, given what Gregaman said. Unless they did something really disjointed, like the first cutscene is pre-DMC3, and then the last cutscene is post-DMC1.

Also, #TeamNoScars and #TeamNoBeard

Dante's stubble makes sense in 4, but I think Vergil would stay clean-shaved. I'd be okay with impeccably groomed facial hair, but it's not my preference.

And his look as Corrupted Vergil is because he was essentially Nelo Angelo without the armor. I don't think they're necessarily bound to that look at all.

He at least needs longer hair.

That pony tail art looks dapper as fuck though.

Wouldn't be surprised if in the first DMC5 trailer they have some "stranger" with bandages on his face come up and challenge Dante/Nero just so they can cock tease the fanbase.

I'd be cool with longer hair. A short cropped ponytail could look good, and fit into his samurai motif too.

Really good.
Where does the masked Vergil come from?I think they indeed considered those DMC1 artworks because DMC3 Vergil looks really like that masked one:

Non-canon DMC manga. Might as well be a completely different character. In the manga Vergil is a crazy psycho going by the alias Gilver. He uses guns and does plenty of stuff out of character to canon Vergil. You know like knocking up some random human girl in Fortuna. That kind of out of character stuff(not that specifically though lol)

How was the DMC anime, anyway? I've been meaning to watch it.

It's not terrible. It's just too episodic for it's own good. Only two good episodes IMHO, the First Episode and the Once Upon A Time Episode. the Once Upon a Time Episode is the only one that gives you some real background to Dante as person. In fact it might be the most background we will ever get on Dante. It also is the episode the confirms his government. My personal favorite episode in the series.

The action scenes in the anime were so boring. Dante would just shoot with E&I and do two sword slashes and leave. Idk why it wasn't as over the top as the scenes in the game.

It's less the fact that it's episodic, in my opinion, and more that "nothing really happens" to keep things interesting.

I lament the fact that the whole subplot relating to
Sparda's proteges, Baul & Modeus
wasn't saved for an actual game, where it likely would've been executed better (or at least would've given us two more interesting boss fights or playable characters). Such a waste.

Looks awesome!

Indeed it does. Makoto Tsuchibayashi Vergil is impeccable. And welcome back.

Yeah that DMC1 era art for him looks pretty slick. Needs a different outfit though.

Nah, keep the suit. It makes him look like a wannabe Sparda, which is part of his character. That's probably part of why he knocked up Ms. Fortuna as well, because he wanted to be more like his daddy.

Really good.

The first image I posted was just a fan art, although there's no doubt they used Makoto Tsuchibayashi's Vergil designs as a reference.

It was poop on a stick. The plot is non-existent, there is zero character development, the action isn't very exciting or choreographed, and the original elements like the little girl, Sparda's apprentices, the demon "Abigail", etc. are all terribly dumb.

Lack of action is due to a low budget no doubt. That's one of the reasons Once Upon A Time is good. It doesn't need action it runs solely off it's plot and it works. The problem with the anime is expectations are from the source material that you'll get a whole bunch of great fights and cool shit. Instead you get to follow Dante on a few missions and get to see what his daily life is like when he's not stopping Armageddon. Because they are missions they are broken up into Episodic chunks where the focus isn't really on Dante, it's on the supporting cast of that episode, which is another problem with the series. It's not about Dante really, it's about the people around Dante. Which is another reason Once Upon A Time stands out because it IS about Dante and his past. It's plot wise more of what people wanted out of a DMC anime.

Seriously. You're given a property like Devil May Cry and you can't match the combat animation from the 2004 E3 trailer for DMC3? Instant failure.

Oh, yes. But I guess my thing is? As a guy who, like badcrumble and others, wouldn't mind at all if DMC5 was a game where you could have Dante and crew taking on smaller scale, everyday assignments/missions (where minor developments/character building could take place) in addition to the major story missions...it was such a waste that the anime didn't do much with such an opportunity to help really flesh out Dante, his world and his supporting cast.

Even compared to the DMC Radio dramas (which starred the same Japanese VA cast), it's no contest. Lady seemingly was aware that shop was called "Devil Never Cry" at one point. Dante bought out Cerberus and his "old buddy", FRIGGIN ALASTOR, one more time in a battle against a Possessed Lady. And even the entire, rather humorous episode relating to the "Strawberry Sundae Murders", where the cops named Steve and McClain interviewed Dante and the crew had a few nice tidbits that were dropped (they even referred to Lady by her birth name of "Mary Arkham").

That's the kind of stuff that should've happened in the show.

It sucks because it's boring and nothing of significance happened outside of Trish and Lady meeting for the first time. Dante wasn't even pushed to use his Devil Trigger and there were no good/important flashbacks to any character that fleshed them out.

The fact that it was so benign and inconsequential makes it so that it's easy to insert it into the DMC canon without it messing anything up.

The two things that the series gets right are the character designs and the soundtrack. The lack of compelling story, world building, character development and good action scenes (how do you not have good action scenes in a god damn DMC anime?) makes it a very dull anime.

You are better off watching Inuyasha, Trigun, Gungrave, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust or Hellsing Ultimate if you want DMC in anime form.
