Devil May Cry 4 SE: Vergil, Trish & Lady Playable, Release Date 18th of June

Yes! Let's bring the vampires and werewolves into the mix. I always knew that Dante would be the guy to beat Gabriel and end Dracula once and for all. Hell, by killing Dracula Dante would be able to bring down one of DMC competitions for good!

Next stop - Greece, Mount Olympus.

I would actually like a vampire character, I would also like this character to be magnitudes stronger than Dante. He's not actually a bad guy, but a character to remind the player that there is a larger world out there than just demons.

You can do other stuff too , werewolves, Dragon people, Necromancers, there is a whole bunch of of occult.

I suppose that's true. They could definitely have a particular demon rise up from the ashes, so to speak, gaining influence and power. I'd just like some sort of justification for this increase in power, where he/she could rival Dante at this point. Perhaps someone who planned for Dante, and had recon done in order to properly equip himself. The clumsy lack of preparedness seemed to be the real issue with the Order and Demons in DMC4, which is a stark contrast to Arkham in DMC3 who had slowly manipulated all of the parties.

I probably sound like a broken record, but I really think that fresh blood is needed on the antagonist side. The series can't continue to rely on Vergil. And I think that it ultimately dilutes him as a character to do so. Guest character, though? Absolutely.

In terms of power, you could probably also justify it by considering what kind of demons would have any interest in the human world. Any established ruler would feel no need to branch out beyond hell - Mundus himself only bothered with humanity because of his grudge against Sparda. Bayonetta's handling of the Madamas and Queen Sheba would probably be something similar; they're incredibly powerful demons who welcome the sacrifices made for them in other realities, but never feel the need to physically leave Inferno - giving the same justification for why the strongest denizens of hell haven't yet been seen or mentioned wouldn't be too out of place. The 'infernal civil war' plot would also give them a reason to be involved with the main story at all - normally the existence of those demons would have no bearing on the lives of the main cast, but if they're participating in a conflict which is spilling over to affect humanity, it'd provide a justification for hunting them.

We could get characters fitting those archetypes, but probably with the caveat of them also being demons. Nevan might as well have been a vampire, for example, especially if she was actually supposed to be based on a leanan sidhe.

What if sparda had a brother?

That'd be a pretty easy way to create a new villian who would be strong and would allow the devs to shed some light on sparda.

Nah, there's too many characters related to Sparda at this point. They should go with someone new, unrelated to Sparda in anyway. They don't need to so another quest for Sparda's power storyline.

The bigger theme to the devil may cry games has always been about family. To say that the Sparda family exists outside of Eva, Sparda, Vergil and Dante wouldn't be that unexpected. To be honest I'd much rather have them do something with Dante's mother / mother's side of the family. Things are getting too much Sparda this, Sparda that.
If they were to go out of the family concept, I guess the next closest thing would be friendship/love.

Yeah, I would love to see Itsuno finally circle back and re-visit what Kamiya was setting up for Eva being just as important as Sparda in the grand scheme of things. Whether or not they go along with how her spirit dwells in the Perfect Amulet (a la Viewtiful Joe-PS2) and/or make her an Umbra Witch in everything but name is up to Itsuno and his writing staff.

If nothing else, the fact that Trish is still alive and bears her appearance is a plot point that I think would be worth exploring for at least a subplot.

EDIT: Looks like this was all old info? Sorry about the false alarm, guys. I thought we only had fan translations of the Japanese site. I hadn't realized we had official translations of the Vergil page.

English Website Update! Just a translation of the JPN site updates, but still. Some confirmed info on Vergil:

DEVIL TRIGGER MODE:

Devil Trigger Stinger
The Devil Trigger version of Stinger is stronger and dishes out more hits. The Devil Trigger version of Stinger 2 will give you even more distance and hits, and deal even more damage.

Devil Trigger Lunar Phase
The Devil Trigger version of Lunar Phase has faster spins, and the finishing kick is followed by two additional rising kicks. The Devil Trigger version of Lunar Phase 2 has faster spins, more hits, and increased attack power.

CONCENTRATION GAUGE
Vergil uses a sword style based on iaido that requires a high degree of physical prowess. By increasing his concentration, Vergil can better utilize this style and perform even more powerful attacks.

The blue gauge in the upper left corner is Vergil‘s Concentration Gauge. It has three levels. The higher the level, the more powerful attacks you‘ll be able to perform.

Increasing The Gauge
Vergil can build the Concentration Gauge by landing attacks on enemies and by dodging their attacks.

Losing Gauge
Getting hit by enemy attacks or running will cause the gauge to deplete. Missing attacks will also deplete the gauge, so you‘ll have to be efficient with your attacks during battle.

Concentration Gauge Level 0
This is Vergil‘s weakest strength level. Don‘t just attack carelessly; build up your gauge first.

Concentration Gauge Level 1
This is Vergil‘s standard strength level. Try not to fall below this level.

Concentration Gauge Max Level
This is Vergil‘s maximum strength level. At this level, Vergil gains a significant increase in attack range and strength. There are moves that can only be performed at this level, so you‘ll need to reach max concentration to access Vergil‘s most powerful techniques.

YAMATO:
Yamato Combo
Vergil‘s basic combo technique, which has three variations. Use the final variation to carve up the enemy with countless super-speed slashes and then deliver a final, devastating blow.

Judgement Cut
Unsheathe your sword with blinding speed and unleash a whirlwind of slashes upon your enemy.

BEOWULF:
Beowulf Combo
Beowulf Combo A ends with a double roundhouse kick, while Combo B rocks the opponent with lightning-fast kicks.

Lunar Phase
Move in on your enemies with this aggressive spin attack, which finishes with a forceful heel kick.

FORCE EDGE:
Stinger
Skewer an enemy at high speed with an attack sure to send them flying.

Round Trip
Hurl Force Edge at an enemy. It will create a whirlwind vacuum that sucks the enemy in while carving them up.

SUMMON SWORDS:
Air Trick
Mark your target with a Summoned Sword, then close the distance with high-speed movement. Use multiple Summoned Swords to travel quickly between enemies.

Spiral Swords
Create a ring of Summoned Swords around you that acts as a shield.

A lot of this we already knew. Some interesting things confirmed:
- Vergil DT Stinger will hit multiple times like Dante's
- Vergil DT Lunar Phase ends upward kicks... possibly like Rising Sun? Or a completely different added move
- Vergil Concentration is based on not whiffing attacks, dodging properly, and striking the enemy. Getting hit will decrease Concentration
- They gave Vergil a Yamato combo that ends in a flurry of slashes. Three variations of Yamato combos, probably pause combos.
- Beowulf Combo A looks like the standard DMC3 combo, while Combo B is something similar to Dante's Beehive
- Roundtrip sucks in the enemies
- Vergil can mark several enemies with Summon Swords to Air Trick between them
- Several moves will be Concentration MAX only

All this talk about Bayonetta and DMC... Say there was a crossover between the two franchises. Who'd rival who?

Dante vs Bayonetta
Trish vs Jeanne

Really the only new thing we got was from that Degenzeki thing, where Vergil get's a rain storm summoned sword move (which looks OP as fuck and is like 10x better than DMC1 version).

When you enter that site you can click the England flag on top right hand side to have everything display in English.

Yep, I don't know why I didn't see it. I checked the English side before and I don't remember the Vergil updates, even though I knew the Japanese page updated. Egg on my face.

When I think about it, UMVC3 actually gave a good idea on how the next DMC game should be. Since we already have real time weapon/style switching in DMC4. CAPCOM should take a step further and introduce real time character switching.

Imagine pulling combos with Dante and swap to Nero doing new combos to continue and again swap to Vergil.etc

I think TreIII mentioned that Sengoku Basara does this and talked about its potential implementation into a DMC.

I think it's interesting, but I'd personally rather have expanded individual characters and potential co-op rather than real time character swapping. Instead of playing a character, you'd be playing a team, which is less appealing to me in a character action game than a fighting game or musou for whatever reason.

I agree that's another route. Honestly, they could provide any justification they want and I'd be okay with it. I don't think consistency should necessarily get in the way of them introducing a compelling narrative.

Vergil confirmed to have an OTG.

I wish. I've been wanting to see them expand on the wall-bouncing from DMC4 by introducing OTGs and maybe even ceiling-bouncing. I was pretty happy when I realized DmC had OTGs.

Though I would love more wall-bouncing, ground bounce, ceiling bounce mechanics, I'm confused by what you mean. OTG literally means a connecting off-the-ground attack, so pretty much every attack in DMC is an OTG, while launchers provide additional juggling opportunities while acting as an OTG.

Maybe you mean groundbounces? Which could definitely be elaborated on. There are limited moves that provide this in DMC4, like Nero's DT Buster on certain enemies.

Groundbounce. I keep confusing the two.
