To be fair, this is the worst case, performance mode, in which FSR 3 can't upscale low-resolution sources very well. In quality mode, it is a little more acceptable, depending on the game.

that is also only true at high resolutions.
the lower the input resolution of FSR is, the worse it looks.

4K Quality Mode is basically the only decent looking one.

So now we have something like DLSS transformer > DLSS CNN >=(?) FSR 4 > XeSS > PSSR ? To be confirmed at a later date with direct capture.

PSSR has better image quality and way less ghosting than DLSS CNN. So unless you’re playing static pokemon battles I’d say is better.







Even DLSS performance is always favored here by DF.

Glad to see the quality has been brought more in line with other upscalers like DLSS, PSSR, and XeSS. But I think the real test is going to be how it performs on different hardware, or if it's something that's only going to work well on RDNA4.

What different hardware? This is exclusive to RDNA4.

thinking about it now AMD still fucked up. If they had followed Nvidia and decided to do hardware-based upscaling from the start then all of their recent cards could run FSR4/ it wouldn't be as far behind DLSS until recently.
Now you need to buy the new AMD card in order to run FSR4. Unless the RT is good (which i doubt because they're not showing off anything related to that) it's still just pointless to buy this 9070 over a 5070 for a similar price which would still outperform in upscaling and RT (JUST when AMD catches up to Nvidia's previous best they unveil transformer... damn it)

i thought the cerny conference pretty much explained why this is happening. PSSR doesnt have a denoiser pass just yet. which mostly effects rt. the more rt a game has, the more you will see it. i dont know why people are still in denial over this. honestly, i dont know why DF played stupid all this time either. they saw the conference in person three months ago.

It has nothing to do with denoiser. Ratchet uses the same denoiser for PS5, Pro and pc version.

This is standard PSSR behavior seen in many games, even ones without any RT. While some games have more problems when RT is in play.

Only few games use ray reconstruction, rest of them use build in engine denoisers and DLSS (and most other upscalers) don't have problems like that.

Seems like Sony wasted their resources big time with pssr development. And will be even funnier if ps5pro is not comaptible with fsr4, what a disastrous console.
How? It's the only one with this tech and will be ahead when everyone else starts like how DLSS is better due to being developed for longer.

While PSSR has some areas that need improvement in terms of stability, DLSS is not without its flaws.
I hope that DLSS4, FSR4, and future PSSR versions will improve on these shortcomings and result in better image quality.

It's mostly about presets (timestamped):



D had more ghosting but better AA, C had zero ghosting but worse AA. New Preset E was better overall.

Now for like 2 months all old presets are not present in DLSS.

Ah, wasn't clear on that. It makes sense but also undermines FSR's biggest argument, that it was an open standard not locked behind any hardware.
AMD GPU Chief Architect said in an interview I posted in another thread that they will continue developing FSR 3 since it still has potential to evolve

Because people judge over results and not over words that are said anywhere but the game they're playing. We can put the guilt on Sony, they are the ones responsible for satisfying customers.

LOL! Hey, when you're right you're right. Barring any egregious limitation AMD is masking with this demo, RDNA 4 and upcoming PC GPUs in general are really putting PS5 Pro value proposition in serious question. Not at all how I expected things to shake out🤷🏿‍♂️
