Is that supposed to be "lol console version"? cuz there are still mouse controls on the bottom.

I will, hopefully later this week. Waiting for my account to get flagged! I'll try to force some form of AA as well. I'll also see if SLI has any impact, and how well the CPU is utilized.

Wish I knew someone who worked at blizzard =[

What class do you think will be most/least popular?

Most popular - Wizard
People will want to have one simply because they consider it the sorceress of D3, which means it will be associated with being the class you want to use for item farming. Also, it looks pretty awesome so far tbh, cool spells that will undoubtedly be even more awesome with runestones.

Least popular - Witch Doctor
They don't really have the cool factor, the male WD looks like an old guy with parkinsons disease. Their gear outside of their helmets hardly looks like armor, but more like tribal clothes.
They're also the pet class, they get small grey zombie dogs, small spiders, frogs etc, they're not really impressive to look at, and you're not even the one controlling the pets to go kill monsters. Their non pet spells seem quite effective looking at beta streams, but the wizard spells are much appealing to the mass audience imo.

This is just my guess for the release of the game.

Wow, those skeletons aren't kidding with their gold coins...

Seems a lot like it was in Diablo 2 to me.

I can vouch for the statement about the wizard. Slightly overpowered in the content that is released as of yet. You decimate anything and everything. But then again this is beginning game content. The shared stash and crafting are very enjoyable, makes having alts viable.

I'm definitely most interested in the Wizard, sorc is the only class I played in D2.

Witch Doctor is the most underwhelming so far. The blowdart skill looks kinda puny and lame compared to most of the other skills and so do the frogs. Maybe they get cooler, I dunno. I'm impressed at how fun they made the Barbarian look, I remember being super bored by any barb footage from D2.

Barbarian is much more fun in d3 than it ever was in d2. Solely for the reason that a single spell or ability can hit more than one target unless it is specifically to do so. Smashing a hammer down, can hit groups... and can do so VERY HARD.

Man I really want to like the Witch Doctor. I want to be different than the rest. I believe the skills will only get cooler the further you go and the more you customize them with runes

Holy shit, this looks even worse than the press shots. (Sorry, I just saw some beta screenshots for the first time)

It's a bit like the "revolution" when LCD displays where first introduced: much worse than what we had for years.

God, I haven't been around such pessimism since I went to that hipster party last week.

Hit the lvl 13 cap on my DH and my Blacksmith has been fully upgraded 3 times now. I can craft some awesome shit, but cant use any of it due to the level cap unfortunately.

So far I have lvl 13 DH, lvl 12 Monk, lvl 9 Barb, and lvl 5 Wiz. I'll likely get the wizard and a WD to 10 before going back and maxing them all out. I'm really liking all of the classes so far, though they all definitely feel different from one another.

It does seem as of now there are some throw away skills for every class, but maybe there is some synergy between them and other abilities down the road. Either way with such a limited set of active skills, there really are some must haves in my opinion. Hopefully runestones will open this up a bit more.

btw, how many people can join a game?
Is it 4 max for party and a game?

4

Edit - Also found my first legendary - A lower level sword. It was laying on an anvil in the cemetery where I had been many times before. It was just randomly sitting there.

I want to betatest this on my laptop to see how well or bad can my laptop run it!

Blizzardguysplsendinvite! Ineedzit!

I even downloaded the menu hack to get to the character screen. So beautiful.

Anyone else have an issue where you simply cannot create a game? It just says "Network Disconnect: Your connection has been lost, etc. etc." every single time I try to start one.

:(

Blizzard forums don't seem to be much help.

That legendary is quite common in the beta. If they don't fix it for release (I assume it's so easy to find right now so that people can have a taste of what a legendary is like), people would end up farming it with sub-1 minute runs for the enchanting/crafting material you can get out of it, if nothing else.

As for skills - some runes completely change what a skill does. The DH later on is supposed to get a Smoke Screen ability that gives you invisibility for a few seconds, but one rune turns it into a poison cloud you can drop.

What I'm wondering is if there would be some skills that you just wouldn't want to rune, if they all change the effect drastically. I guess you could stick with Crimson runes which seem to be more straight power/damage focused, but again, this is the kind of detail we won't know until release unless Blizzard says something beforehand either at Blizzcon or via blog post or on the forums.

Even then, there will still be some things that Blizzard is almost guaranteed not to comment on until release, like the "secret" level that most of us know at least a little bit about now.

Well all of the runestone effects have been datamined. Here is a nice thread with them listed.

I have the invisibility skill for the DH, it's pretty cool and I'm curious to see how it's usefulness plays out.

Wait seriously? Griswold's Edge? Chilling on an Anvil? HA! God dammit, I love you Blizzard.

Yup that is the exact sword!

Yeah, it's just kinda hard to parse some of them when you ha{Script Formula *100}%ve popping up all the time.

:P

These are things we honestly don't need to know before release. It would be nice, but theres no reason to expect runes to be playable before release.

Right (Notice how I knew the name without you mentioning it :-P), but the attention to detail that Blizzard has to place on it on an anvil given its quest in Diablo 1 (i.e. Anvil of Fury) makes it pretty awesome.

Demon Hunter will end up to be most popular class' C'mon, DH even got its own pre-rendered cinematic. WD will probably be the least played, which is fine, because I plan to play him/her.

Monk got one as well. Not as cool, but still it got one of the same visual fidelity.

I disagree, I think if people play all of the classes to "check them out" I think Wizard, Barb and Monk will be the top 3.

Didn't know the sword had a history. That makes it even better!

People were wondering about the level of blood and gore in the game. I stumbled across these unlucky souls earlier tonight!

Also, does anyone know why the forums are showing the screens as blurry? I'm having to rt click>view image and then click on it to get it to show at proper resolution.

Ehhhh.... looks so damn cheesy. Looks like cartoon gore compared to most of the dungeons in DII.
Too much light in the scene there I think, makes it feel more like the "God of War" style of gore, rather than something that feels creepy. Some the other shots of the game I've seen do a much better job of conveying the latter I think.

Whats with everyone taking zoomed in screenshots anyway, looks weird for a Diablo game.

Well trust me the gore is just fine, shit explodes, splats and body parts and bodies go everywhere all driven by physics. I threw a zombie way up into the air with the barb, I thought it was going to hit the damn screen. Caught me off guard, but it was awesome!

You know, when you zoom in on these little ornament type assets, your just not going get a high poly budget, or hi res texture. They serve their purpose while playing the game, but aren't really there for a high level of scrutiny. There are neat little details like blades of grass and cobwebs that react with physics collision, but they are still just low poly, low res assets.

I like the camera's low position just for grabbin screens and looking at stuff. All I see are zoomed out screens. So I've been taking screens zoomed in for the most part and pasting them in this thread. Just goofing around really.

Diablo 3 looks underwhelming (especially zoomed in like that), but it looks like it plays great and looks better in motion. I'm sure it's developed to run on as many computers as possible rather than creating tech demo graphics. From what I've seen so far, this game can easily be ported to PS360 ;)

The graphics don't really impress me but it's standard for a blizzard game but the animations are great. All the motions just seem so fluid.
Also it's surprisingly gory, I was expecting less from all the gameplay videos/screenshots we got. There is just more light in the world so not all of the places get that DII creepy gory feel.

The Monk gameplay seemed boring from the videos I had seen, especially at lower levels. However, even from 1-5 my Monk was quite fun. Can't wait to see how it is at high levels!

I don't know why but Demonhunter is most appealing to me and I absolutely hated Assassin and Amazon in DII. Don't know what has happened. Maybe it's just a temporary thing and I go back to WD/Wizard.

I love archers in games, but the DH looks so boring to play to me. I mean really boring. The skill tree and stuff too, but I refuse to play melee ever again so Ill probably go Wizard now.

I would love going Wizard too but for some reason I have this thing that it annoys the shit out of me to play the most popular/played hero in the game. I might change it though. I don't like Melee classes at all but Monk seems interesting.
WD is also cool but I don' like how he looks >_>

DH has some cool spells. I do not like the default attacking sound though.

I've beat the beta now with the Witch Doctor and the Monk. They are my 2 favorite classes. Worst was Barb followed by Wizard with Demon Hunter being "ok".

You played DII? If yes what hero you liked the most. I'm just interested how that translates

I know it's way too early to say for sure, but which class do you think will be the dominant MF'er? I assume Wizard?

I'm not sure if MF'ing will work the same way in D3, I know loot drops specifically for you in a party.

Whatever the case, I assume I will make 2 characters to start. 1 to play with friends and whichever class has the tools to be the best MF'er.

I was going to wait for the open beta to know how may it run on my laptop, but I can't wait and will ask, if these specs will let me play the game.
I am asking even though I know it can.

OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows 7 64bit
CPU TYPE: Intel® Core™ i5 CPU M 460 @ 2.53GHz
CPU SPEED: 2.55 GHz
SYSTEM MEMORY: 4 GB
VIDEO CARD MODEL: AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5650
VIDEO CARD MEMORY: 1 GB

Haha, already have the client installed and now naively waiting for the beta invite...

Teleport has a cooldown and bossruns aren't nearly as viable anymore as they were in D2.

Interested. Why is that?

I love, and I mean love the art style, but this game really needs anti-aliasing.

You can always force it ^^
But at least it has AA option. It's just set on "Off" right now in beta.

Would have to search through the old interviews but from what I remeber/understand the mobs of an area won't be as limitied in their potential drops compared to Bosses as they were in D2. Basically your probably just as or more likely to get something good by clearing an area as you are skipping past most of the mobs in order to rush to the boss.

You are right, not best drops are for boss, random mobs have the pontential drops, so you can play all the content and not boss rush.

OK thanks.
But isn't that almost better? Now you can actually just play the level and hunt for gear rather than go straight for the boss and repeat.

Hated it too, but then WoW launched and I rolled an archer as usual, and they decided along the way to make it the most gold farmer friendly, new player friendly class in the game.

Had to deal with my class being a dime a dozen for years. I think Ill be able to handle it for D3 lol.
